I was listening to Arrington & Dukes discuss CP's legacy with the Washington Redskins and think that it basically comes down to whether or not he should be immortalized on the Redskins Ring of Fame after his career is finished here. Thoughts?

I'd need to know all the names that are already up there which I don't off the top of my head, but I'll say no. Without knowing the exact names, I'd probably guess that all the names up there are beloved, legends, or contributed to winning Super Bowls. Neither of those two things apply.

Yes - especially if he is able to heal up and make the team next year and break Riggo's team rushing record. Riggo was great but he ran behind the Hogs for a number of years and Portis ran behind the Scumbags - err.. dirtbags - who had one great player among them, Chris Samuels. The Skins O-Line has been crap for years and he still produced yards and delivered some killer blocks, protecting the QB.

Portis has been the only offensive bright spot on this team since 2004 (except 2006 & 2009) and he has been one of the toughest RB's ever.

Save the space on the Ring.

I would think so. Perhaps not immediately, but his numbers and longevity with this team are substantial enough. Portis' downsides... not practicing, skipping offseason stuff, and his treatment of fellow coaches and players will be absorbed in history and what will be left is his achievements which include a bunch of thousand yard seasons... one really nice Riggo stretch in 2005 (put the team on his back) and incredible blocking... although that will likely be forgotten.

No, absolutely not! Any RB who received 40 carries a game would rack up those kind of stats. Other than a ton of YDS what else has he done for this team? Not a Skins legend...IMO

Um... A ton of carries? Face of the franchise from '04-'10 (and beyond?)
