I guess it's one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't scenarios.

One would hope, even if they have gotten wind of there contracts not being renewed come May, that they'd still be 100% professional whilst still on the payroll. And it's not as if either Allen's exactly been out of the loop on this years class being as he's come from Tampa to here with no break, and Shanahan's a football nut regardless, even in his supposed "off year" he couldn't help but keep heavily involved in the game; so I'm sure Coach Mike and Bruce will have their targets already identified.

As js pointed out over the page, it's just a simple situation of contracts running through until May that ties our hand.

Hail.

After a bad day, that perspective was needed.

Does anyone else feel like the only players who are really jacked (not that means everything, but it means something) are Orakpo, Carter, D. Thomas, and Landry? Everyone else looks skinny and weak.

No.

I guess you aren't familiar with Phillip Daniels.

USA Today: Redskins' Daniels defies age with powerlifting surge

Or DeAngelo Hall's workout routine:

But Hall's proposal was different. He wanted to take part in training camp's two daily practices, lift weights at Redskins Park and then hook up with Craig in the evenings for a boxing workout -- a 14-hour day of pain and sweat.

...

So on a half-dozen nights during camp, Craig and Hall met and slipped on boxing gloves. Craig put Hall through the same routine he'd give any of his fighters: heavy bags, mitts, speed bags, jump ropes. Thus far, Hall says he couldn't be more pleased with the results.

"I haven't missed a practice, haven't been hurt, everything has felt good," said Hall, a sixth-year veteran who says he's in the best shape of his pro career.

You also have the possibility of changing some minds and impressing the new boss. Maybe they'll discover that you are really good. From afar, looking at the talent and drafts of the 'skins you can't be very impressed with our scouts. This is Scott's chance to show his wares.

It is no different than any other contract that runs out. While you are under contract, you are expected to do your job.

Also, these guys are working for their jobs all the time, whether it is here or elsewhere. You don't keep doing your job unless you continue to be good at it.

As js pointed out over the page, it's just a simple situation of contracts running through until May that ties our hand.

Well, it also ties our hands that the job is half done and making any sort of transition at this point doesn't make much sense.

While js points out potential changes, these guys are still working to make an impression with the new powers that be. Change is never a guarantee and there is always a possibility of retention if they think you are doing a good job.

let me add to RWJ's great find here .. The Post said about Scott Campbell being there on the field which is true now the follow up to that ......the scouts contracts run through the draft, expire in May, after that they bring in the goodman boys or bill kuharic. thats why SC is on the field... Also they mention McCardell ... he worked with the Giants young guys this last offseason as a intern type

Is there any chance we actually increase the size of the scouting department so we have eyes on prospects from lesser known schools, for once?
