If Wright is the guy I'm considerably underwhelmed.

He was hired as Houstons S&C coach a year ago and performed so well that they happily gave him the boot with several years remaining on his contract.

This reminds me of the Foerster hire only instead of his former team just wanting to get rid of him they actually fired him before we scraped him off the bottom of the barrel.

Damn it! Why couldn't we close the deal with Buddy Morris? From everything I've read and heard he would have been the perfect guy to turn our conditioning program around. There's nothing I've read on Wright that suggests he's anything more than a pedestrian hire at best.

The Texans brought in Cedric Smith as their S&C coach because of previous connections.

Nothing is wrong with Ray Wright... unfortunately he spent some seasons under their previous S&C coach who was absolutely horrible. Ray Wright has different methodologies which conflicted with the previous S&C coach... lets give this guy a chance before making the call.

Seems to me Ray Wright is the classic Vet Minimum kind of guy you would love! :ols:

But I agree with you...I am also considerably underwhelmed. Despite his previous ties to the Redskins, he spent 7 years as an assistant S&C and one years the head honcho and got canned despite no change in the coaching or front office. Clearly the Texans GM and Kubiak did not like what they saw under Wright's leadership.

Shanahan started fast but lately is taking leftovers with his last several coaching assistants. Not encouraging when the O line and strength and conditioning are clearly two places we need to improve.

From what I've read on Ray so far..this sounds like a very good hire.

What a clever and astute observation.

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar whose powers of ratiocination would leave even the mythical Sherlock Holmes in awe.

Yes indeed with Ray Wright safely secured and at the helm we can scratch off strength and conditioning as an area of concern.

Not just a good hire but as you so brilliantly put it "a very good hire". Well said indeed!
