Pft: Titans to pursue tampering charges against redskins? (merged)

Didn't they say that Haynesworth had at least 7 offers? Why wouldn't they accuse everyone else of tampering too?

Because 7 other teams didn't sit down with his agent then sign him the next day.

But it's all speculation, the titans are just whiny ****es.

Bud Adams is cheap. He could have signed Haynesworth to a new contract in 2007 OR 2008 but chose to franchise him and make him play out the tender. That rarely works out in the player staying with the team.

Adams is the same guy that prevented Steve McNair from using the Titans facilities to rehab from his knee injury because he was slated to be a free agent. And that was after all McNair had done in Tennessee to help the team win over 11 seasons.

Jeff Fisher is an excellent coach but the rest of that organization is questionable at best in terms of their own ethics.

Good luck proving tampering in a case where it took almost 5 hours of telecon for the Redskins to work out a deal with Haynesworth.

It's not like the deal was sent into the league office at 1am all completed

The Tennessee Titans believe that the Washington Redskins broke the NFL's tampering rules in their signing of Albert Haynesworth, and now the only question is whether they can prove it to Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean is reporting that the Titans are interested in pursuing the charges. That's no surprise: Reports swirled in the days before free agency opened that the Redskins and Haynesworth already had a deal in place. That would be a textbook example of a violation of tampering rules.

But can the Titans prove it? We know that Haynesworth's agent was spotted talking to Redskins owner Daniel Snyder at the NFL Scouting Combine, but that doesn't prove anything. And Haynesworth says he didn't hear anything from the Redskins until four minutes after the free agency period officially started.

Of course, last year, most people thought the evidence that the 49ers tampered with Lance Briggs was fairly flimsy. That didn't stop Goodell from ruling that the 49ers had, in fact, tampered -- and from giving the Bears one of the 49ers' draft picks.

The Titans aren't making a big deal out of this publicly, other than Titans general manager Mike Reinfeldt saying, "It's always something we can address with the league.'' You can bet Goodell will hear more than that.

One thing here is there were rumors it will be the Skins, and it would be a 100 million contract -- pretty much what happened. There were no rumors that I can recall for example about the Giants. One of the articles purported that the Bears didn't have much on the 49ers relating to Briggs/tampering but the Bears were awarded a pick anyway.

If we lose a pick hope its not this draft. Snyder isn't depicted as a warm and fuzzy type so I don't how nice the NFL is going to be to him in this case
