Hard to master? wtf? ....is the safety button a problem too:silly:

Ain't much scarier than the sound of a slide racking in the dark, and it leaves the walls and neighbors safer :2cents:

I prefer the 50 cal for bears myself

Just don't come cryin to me when you shoot your vagina off. But I digress. Hell, if we're playing the "who likes bigger guns" game I prefer a hydrogen bomb for rabbit hunting and the death star for geese. NOW WHAT!

Glock G23, .40 cal or the G19 9mm. Its compact and they are great pistols. Also there is a walther P99, in either a 9mm or .40. My suggestion is to go to a store and feel them out. The Berreta is ok, too, but with my experiance they tend to jam. Its not the gun itself, it is the magazines(there are good aftermarket mags out there). Still a nice pistol. I would go with a .40, has a bit more stopping power than a 9mm and not does not kick that much more. Go to a range if possible and try different ones out, choose the most comfortable for you.

A LITTLE GUN HISTORY

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953,

about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up

and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey establish ed gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million

Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13

million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up

and exterminated.

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000

Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million

educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and

exterminated.

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because

of gun control: 56 million.

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new

law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own

government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million

dollars. The first year results are now in:

List of 7 items: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent

Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent Australia-wide, armed robberies

are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300

percent. Note, that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the

criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed

robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12

months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the

ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety

has decreased, after such monumental effort, and expense was expended in

successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience

and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians

disseminating this information. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save

lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the

law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of

this history lesson.

With guns, we are 'Citizens'.

Without them, we are 'Subjects'.

During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew

most Americans were ARMED

So I went to this party a girl was having in my building, right. I started hitting it off well with one of her friends; she was flirting like crazy with me. I noticed she had a ring on her finger so I asked her if she was engaged...she told me "no, I do this to get weird guys to leave me alone."

So as the night went on, we started downing shots...I could tell she was getting a little tipsy. I didnt want to make a scene infront of her friends, so I went to whisper to her about maybe taking a few plays off, and she got all offended. As she got her friend to escort me from the party for some odd reason, she was yelling all sorts of insults in my general direction...I couldnt believe it...I was trying to help her, and this is the thanks I get?

I recommend a Glock 33 or 26. I own a 33 for concealed carry, it's chambered for .357 Sig. I think the 26 is chambered for .40 S&W. They are both the same exact gun, just chambered for a different caliber ammo. The 33 is small enough to fit in my back pocket, but still has a firing capacity of 10 rounds (9 in the magazine, 1 in the chamber) Excellent gun, fitted with a magazine grip extender, and night sights it's hard to top. Plus it's a Glock, you could drop it in swimming pool, pull it out after 10 minutes and the gun will most likely still fire.

Don't purchase a handgun. If you feel you absolutely must, purchase a revolver.

While most gun-dork enthusiasts* will recommend a semi-auto glock or sig or s&w, etc, the fact is that is a TERRIBLE choice for the typical homeowner who does not plan on using the gun except in a case where it is really needed.

Buy a shotgun. 12 gauge pump, short barrell. Keep it loaded with buckshot. Take it to a range and learn how to operate it. Hell, 99% of the time simply ****ing the thing will make someone **** their pants. It is probably one of the most intimidating sounds ever.

Also, and perhaps more importantly, if you live in a populated area of town a blast from a shotgun has much less chance of going thru multiple walls and killing a 3 year old playing with his friends. (make no mistake, a shotgun blast at close range will seriously **** someone up though). Also a shotgun is incredibly easy to point and shoot, and incredibly simple to operate and maintain.

However, if you feel you must purchase a handgun, buy a double action revolver, probably a .38. Keep the hammer rested on an empty chamber, load the rest. If you need to shoot someone, you can pull the trigger and do it. However if you drop the gun or accidentally bang the hammer against something, there is no chance of it going off and killing someone you didn't mean to kill. Stick with a reputable brand. You get what you pay for.

*I'm one too

you think she remembers writing this?

to add on:

say she had a gun tonight...what good would have come out of the situation? I'm not saying guns should be outlawed but I mean she definitely wasn't in the right state of mind to make a good decision with a gun...

She comes out with a gun drunk and then what?

maybe guns should come with interlocks? haha :whoknows:

keeastman is a bit more levelheaded than to do that. She knows better. I'd bet that she wont end up getting a gun. She felt vulnerable, and feels a gun will make her feel less vulnerable. Not gonna happen. Dumbass drunks will be dumbass drunks whether you have a gun or not.

"you dont know me!" haha

good point. I wasn't saying Keeastman necessarily and saying you want a gun and going through the process are two different things so I agree.

fire a shotgun and hear how loud it is. now fire that shotgun in the living room when a burglar is coming in and even if it doesnt hit him he is going to **** himself and be completely deaf. this is the best idea i have heard and the EXACT reason why I owned a Winchester 1300 pistol grip pump. 7 shots and all you do is lock it to your hip, aim in that direction and pull the trigger.

I had dragonfire shells for mine. They were cool as hell and would shoot out a flame about 2 feet out the barrel. But it made it really dirty and I was constantly cleaning it.

I would suggest for learning to shoot it that you go with a "dove and quail" load. It is light in kick and cheap in cost. It will just help you get used to holding it and firing it. Then once you are ready move up to that buckshot.

I has bucket. Nooo they be stealin' my bucket!

bwaaaaaahahahaaaa!!!! :applause:

Well, well, well, that was a cute little thread. ****.

To clear a few things up: Last night, girls night gone wild watching TV shows at the house. They seem to be doing that as I get closer to moving out...

The idiot mentioned in the OP who was at the Superbowl party was beyond drunk and our friend O'Neil took care of him. It wasn't even that big of a deal, I guess it just bothered me....enough so that I felt the need to put it in a stupid drunk thread.

Now for the FACTS of the case: I WOULD NOT HAVE USED A GUN IN THAT SITUATION. Holy Crap.

I wasn't even thinking about using a gun in that case, maybe just a high kick to the face. haha!

Why I pieced 2 random thoughts together: idiot at an out of control superbowl party + notion of talking about wanting a gun at a, um, rapidly drunkenly devloving Tv show night into a frickin ES thread, I don't know.

Bottom line: I'm going to the gun range with my fiance and he will purchase me something after we've spent a lot of time at the range and I'm comfortable with something...so, like, I won't be getting anything tomorrow.

Until then, I have some stupid mace (but not for parties, haha)

Finally...Thursday nights!! Keeastman's house! Party on till we graduate suckas!
