Fifty Gut
9. Carlos Rogers, cornerback, Redskins: He’s on the path to being declared a bust. We’ll give him one more year. 25. Jason Campbell, quarterback, Redskins: Campbell is on his way to becoming a solid starter, and could evolve into one of the better signal-callers in the conference. Not a bust. skinfan2k
I really want to see what Rogers does out of the Greg Williams scheme. Some say that Rogers was most comfortable in Bump and Run Coverage. I am gonna await making judgments on our young players out of the Gibbs/GW system
Loyal2Washington
Hard to argue that. Rogers was clearly a solid number two CB but you don't draft solid number 2's with a top ten pick. Factor in that Ware and Merriman were still available and it makes it that much worse. Campbell was a solid pick, as of now, with potential to be a steal at 25. Califan007 The Constipated
Rogers was playing some VERY good and much improved football last season before being injured. When your game is improving you're not "on your way" to being a bust.
Califan007 The Constipated
By the way, they have 7 of the top 10 draft picks labeled as busts, and I can't argue with any of them lol  ...only Edwards is now seen as worthy of his draft pick. DWinzit
I think Carlos will be fine once he mends, especially if they don't have him playing so far off the line. It's hard to believe they already have correctly labeled 14 as busts.

jabronijames
You know...I would say that Campbell is in risk of being declared a bust. He shows flashes of brilliance, but he's pretty inconsistent. We'll give him another year and see how he does under Zorn.

Califan007 The Constipated
I found this interesting: "14. Thomas Davis, safety/linebacker, Panters: He’s not spectacular, but he started 16 games in 2007. Not a bust." That description--"he's not spectacular, but he started 16 games in 2007"--could have easily been applied to Rogers in 2006, and last year if not for the injury. Meaning, the Panthers at the #14 pick got a guy who is good enough to start all 16 games even though he's "not spectacular", so he's not a bust. However, the Redskins at the #9 pick got a guy who is good enough to start all 16 games even though he's "not spectacular", and he's on his way to becoming a bust. Those 5 measly spots really mean that much? If so, it kinda validates what Vinny has been saying about not reaching for a certain position in the draft simply to fill a need. Because apparently Carlos Rogers at #14 is not a bust, but Carlos Rogers at #9 IS a bust (or close to one).

dez4theskins
In the beginning of the season they threw to Springs side more than Carlos side. When he went down in New England thats when the flood gates opened.

To me, a bust means you are a non-factor or out of the league entirely.

Rest of first-round How did he come to that conclusion? and Who made him the expert? He is just another writer who expresses his opinion without any true analysis. What is the criteria and information that they determine whether a guy is a great player, a good player or a bust? It is all the matter of opinion. MNel Kiper Jr., Todd McShay, and all these draft experts never get it right completely. So they write up that, for example, Carlos Rogers, Roy Williams, Tank Johnson or even Adrian Peterson is going to be this impact player, shutdown corner, or great runner, but in reality they were just dead wrong on their analysis. Also systems and schemes have a lot to do with the success of any player. Take Archeletta for example, he was a great player when he was with the Rams but ever since then he hasn't done nothing because he was exposed for his flaws. Carlos hasn't been that bad of a corner but hasn't really been utilized correctly. Gregg Williams will make the Jags worse on Defense because of his scheme. Yes, they will be in the Top 10 in Defense but they won't be as dominate as the last couple of years.

illone
Rogers' main problem has been consistency. He flashes greatness to the point where I can't call him a bust just yet. If he could just stay on the field and play every game like he played against Detroit in 07, and the Saints/Cowboys in 2006, then the Skins would have a legitimate shutdown corner for the next 5-6 years. How soon the haters forget we had the best pass defense in the NFC thanks to Taylor and Rogers, while teams were able to pick on Smoot and especially Springs in the early half of the season. People need to get off the Ware/Merriman whining too, because both of those guys are perfect fits as pass rushers in a 3-4...how they'd fare in a 4-3 is pure speculation, but somehow I doubt they'd be the same players they are today in their current schemes.
