zoony
It's rating around 80% fresh on rottentomatoes. Most critics say is good old-school action with limited CGI. I can't wait to see it. file that under good
GibbsFactor
I'm pretty excited to see this movie. Ford and Spielberg spent years reigning in Lucas' story because it was so far out there. Most of the story holds true but Ford and Spielberg were able to make it more "Indy" in the long run. I'm stoked to see this movie. Ford is a great action/comedy guy and it's a shame he only got two good roles in that mold. Who am I kidding? He owns the market with Han and Jr.
Tastes Like Chicken
I'm glad they didn't let Lucas **** it up like he did 2/3 of the Star Wars prequels. I'm excited to see this flick, but I'll probably watch it during the day when the crowds aren't so thick.

TimmySmith
It would be nice if Spielberg decides to tell the audience a story, and put some effort into the dialog and plot.Hopefully it's not just 120 minutes of CGI and gross-out effects, like 99% of the crap out there today :jerk: ..... All the reviews say no story, great effects. IMO the first one was the best by a mile and all the stunts were done by humans. I guess they think that today's audiences need to see the impossible performed over and over.

zoony
. I guess they think that today's audiences need to see the impossible performed over and over. I hate that. CGI has ruined film-making imho. Directors and Producers have gotten lazy. They've forgotten how to tell a story, and how to shape characters and use dialogue. It's much easier to insert impossible effects I guess
ECU-ALUM
I keep going back & forth on whether I want to see this one. On one hand Harrison Ford is awesome as this character and hearing that fanfare coming out of Dolby Speakers is a blast. On the other hand the last time George Lucas stayed away from a film-series for a long time and then came back to it...well the results were (at best) mixed. I am waiting to see what a friend of mine says about it.
talk show host
reviews have been mostly positive. the negative reviews come from people who were out to hate the movie to begin with (because nothing can measure up to a persons memory of seeing something for the first time as a child) or people who can't get over the fact that this movie is not "historical" like the other ones. it has nothing to do with Christian history/mythology. This one is more sci-fi and some people cant get over that fact. I generally agree with Roger Ebert's opinion on movies and he gave it 3-1/2 out of 4 stars. http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080518/REVIEWS/969461084 Aint It Cool News has a TON of Indy 4 reviews, both from site regulars and from average fans who have seen the movie. Some reviews have minor spoilers, but there are always warnings before them so you know when to stop reading if you want to go see the movie not knowing much of anything. HogNose
It would be nice if Spielberg decides to tell the audience a story, and put some effort into the dialog and plot...... He generally does. Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, Munich, Jaws etc. Spielberg is one Director I have faith in. I can't wait to see 'Lincoln" when it comes out in '09. :applause:

Guest sith lord
Have you seen Casino Royale? That was a good flic. The conversation in the train was brilliant. Also I loved the rawness of the fight scenes. I think he was mainly talking about big summer blockbuster type films. The original Star Wars, Jaws, E.T, the first 2 Superman movies and the early Indiana Jones movies all had special effects but they all had good stories. In other words the special effects were secondary to the story. With todays big over the top blockbusters, it's the other way around IMO.
War Paint
I've pretty much heard nothing but bad things about this movie. I think I will pass. LOL. Everything I read is positive. Everything. I haven't heard anything negative at all. Please don't say "everything you heard" because unless you went to an anti-indy site, you couldn't possibly have heard tons of negative reviews. I've been following this movie for a long time and have read nothing but positive reviews. Stay at home while the rest of us enjoy it.

sentimental47
''Indiana Jones and the Search For the Invincible Depends'' LOL. I watched all 3 over the weekend on sci fi and USA channels. Raiders REALLY bought back that spark and why I loved it as much as I did. I'm leaning towards spending an afternoon in a multiplex with an old friend. NoCalMike
A lot of people think it is a good summer blockbuster type hit, but just not on the level of the trilogy. On AOTS, the guy said it was a very solid flick on the level of one of "THe Mummy" movies, but wasn't quite up to par with the trilogy.
ArmchairRedskin
You talking about Devin Farci from Chud, NoCal? Chud.com is full of uber geeky film school nerds who always complain about CGI. Not saying they're always wrong or anything, but those guys tend to be pretty harsh in their critiques. Devin isn't that bad, though. Anyway, we have a brand new Cinemark 16 opening up here tomorrow so I'll prolly check it out this weekend. Imma try to escape these 90 degree temps a little bit. talk show host
NOTHING can be "up to par" with the trilogy because its been established lore for two decades. Some of the cheesy things in this movie won't seem so bad in 20 years... just like some of the cheesy things in the other 3 indy movies dont seem bad now. If you can find reviews for Temple of Doom and Last Crusade when they came out, they got the same kind of negativity by people comparing them to the original. Comparing this movie to the mummy movies WREAKS of bias. its an overstatement of epic proportions. Everything I have read that seemed un-prejudiced (i.e. the review was NOT prefaced by a 2 page story on how important indiana jones was to the reviewers early childhood and comments about how they were dreading the movie all along) has been resoundingly positive. Jrew1223
I watched the movie last night (i know people) and i thought it was pretty good... It was shot really well and the cgi was awesome... you cant compare this to the old trilogy because it was a different time with differnet technology but this movie definitely isnt a studios way of screwing die hard fans out of a lot of money... it held its own in my opinion... -Jrew
