I don't know enough about how the current contracts space out but it seems like the window on the D-Line won't be open forever and it's the strongest unit on the team. Agreed. I've always favored a "best player available" approach to the draft and I feel like he fits in to that category. Is he a guard or a tackle? Do we already have enough lineman? We will figure it out. Draft guys who are a value and figure out how to grow them and fit them in. With a couple exceptions (like the QB position), I don't like trying to draft guys to fill specific holes because you end up reaching and over time, those "reaches" add up to less overall talent. I like this pick.

I hope someone smarter than me is thinking about what our future national security posture looks like from a virus response perspective. This has uncovered how easy it is to bring down the world economy. What happens if bad actors start developing viruses and threatening to use them or just letting them loose on purpose to sew chaos? I wonder if the future playbook for handling situations like this looks like "we don't negotiate with terrorists". Meaning, we build response systems (fast tracking inoculations) then decide "not to negotiate with terrorists" (i.e. we don't shut down). Otherwise, it's a similar paradigm to hostage taking. If we shut down every time there is a new virus, then there is opportunity for bad actors.

They traded Deforest Buckner a few weeks ago instead of paying him big money. This move replaces Buckner at a fraction of the cost.
