I hear ya.

So back to football, Su'a, and good news.

So, what are we going to do with all those draft picks we got for Su'a ?

Tim Settle looks like a guy who has struggled with weight and who knows what other problems.  I was a hesitant that he would be another athletically gifted fat boy who cashed a check, but dang - I'm IMPRESSED with how he has changed his body for the better in such a very short time. I'm probably viewing this through burgundy lenses but I have a great feeling this kid is going to be special. He is putting in the work.

When was the last time we had 4 young dlineman all who seem special, obviously in varying degrees? I'm so psyched about Matty, Allen, Payne and Settle.

We got Tim for Suzy. Cravens is gone. Kidll prolly never really play much again.

Biggest kicker? That hybrid position is absolutely ****ing stupid. It's a passing league so you need a centerfielding FS, you need a SS that's more coverage that hitting anymore. It's like the old days.

Safties were both coverage guys in the 80's,but because Marty brought in Bo, Marcus and ****ing Christian behind that ridiculous Chiefs line, Dan Reeves made Steve A****er the first real run defender first safety in history. Afc west was ****ing savage in the 80s.

Please elaborate on the bold. I would be interested in exactly what you are referring to.

Nothing at all I meant I don't know what obstacles he may have over come in his young life, but he sure seems to be making the most of his opportunity

I come from upstate NY...far from hillbilly...and I've spent enough time in NYC to know what a real pizza is and what a real sandwich is...

Ok Mr. Big Apple, is NY Style pizza a sandwich or a hot dog?  You do fold it in half when you eat it, so there's bread on both sides.

He might not make the team in Denver, checked in on some of their fans and they're getting frustrated with Su'a's recurring mystery thigh/knee/whatever injury.

I disagree, it's still really useful.  Ryan Shazier with the Steelers was a great player because he was so good and mobile in coverage.  If you have someone like Shazier, then you don't need a "dimebacker".  But linebackers who moved like he did are rare, so teams go with a sub package to squeeze in a "dimebacker".

Here's Football Outsiders talking about defensive efficiency versus certain types of routes.  Look at how good Pittsburgh is against routes that break into areas a linebacker can reach.

#1 against Dig routes, #2 against Curl routes, #3 against Drag routes, #11 against Post routes

On routes outside the numbers or deeper than LB's normally drop, they were #32 against Out routes, #8 against Go/Fly routes, #29 against Comeback routes, #13 against Fade routes, #25 against Seam routes

Then there are some routes that may or may not be in the Lb's area, it depends.  #5 against WR screens, and #18 against Slants.  I think the above clearly shows that the short/intermediate middle of the field was on lock down for the Steelers.  While Shazier was playing (12 games), they averaged just 5 yards per play allowed on defense, that's 9th in the NFL.  After he got hurt (4 games), they averaged 5.9 yards per play allowed, that's 32nd in the NFL.

Having a dimebacker wouldn't be as effective as a full time guy like Shazier, but guys like him don't come around often.  Having a good dimebacker would help out a defense.

What about Strombolis or Calzones ?

Aren't they basically folded pizzas ?

Good question, is NY Style pizza secretly a Calzone?

Lol not from the city, I'm 3 hours north...just went there a lot.

That's a very dumb question. You fold a NY style pizza and no...its not a sandwich...its a pizza.

No. They are an awesomeness all their own. The confusion come up with is a stromboli just a calzone without the ricotta cheese and with ham, peppers, onions, and sausage

I'd call a calzone a sandwich in a conversation like this that is purely about the loose definition of what it philosophically means to be a sandwich, but never in public.

@Alcoholic Zebra yeah, I get all of that about the position, and fully understand the usefulness of a fast LB. I wanted to draft Shazier so badly that year. I still don't think the dime backer needs to be anything more than a SS and that SSs will begin to resemble FSs more than LBers.

You take your hippy ways of trying to include everything and exit the discussion if you even come close to putting a calzone in the sandwich category. A calzone is one of the most awesome foods ever, and could never even be confused with a sandwich....I think the sun has burned your brain..seek the shade

You don't even think a taco is a sandwich. That's just racist.

A taco isnt a sandwich. Read my reason...not racist at all. I am admitting its awesomeness and it should not be lumped into a general sandwich category...stop your socialist views in The Stadium

Never!

Your extremism towards the exclusion of foods you don't recognize as sandwiches is absurd and confusing.

You are trying to cross nationalities and appropriating cultural food. This needs to stop....now stop trying to hijack my hijack by mudding up the sandwich waters

2016 Draft wasn't bad.  It's hit and miss with draft picks.  The biggest disappointment has to be Doctson imo.  He must breakout this year to make that draft ultimately successful.  I really don't think the Cravens pick was a bad gamble.  But it was a gamble and they lost.  He had obvious issues within his head and someone dropped the ball on evaluating this guy.  His head wasn't right from early signs in college for what it's worth.  They made a mistake.

Is a hot dog a sandwich then? When you think about it, it's essentially the same thing as a hamburger....only difference is how the bread is shaped.
