Skins tell Gruden told he'll be back in 2015

NBC Washington's Dianna Marie Russini reports the Redskins have informed HC Jay Gruden that he'll return to coach the team in 2015.

Russini is as plugged in as it gets when it's all things Redskins. If true, it would seem the Redskins will part ways with Robert Griffin III if we're to believe reports that Gruden can't work with RGIII. Owner Dan Snyder inked Gruden to a five-year contract when he hired him, so he's not going to eat four years of money to send Gruden on his way. It'll be interesting to see where Gruden goes at quarterback. The Redskins are currently slated to pick fifth overall in the 2015 draft.

Most redundant thread title ever.

Well, at least we aren't on a quick trigger.

Not sure I like the overall "status quo" but at least we aren't a coach killer.

One thing this means, is Jay better get Griffin playing or they're both probably gone next year.  It is what it is.

I know a lot of us thinks this spells doom for Griffin the Redskin in 2015, but a new coach would mean another year of expected failures in my opinion. If this team follows a correct draft path, i.e OL i round 1, I believe Griffin can return to his 2012 form. Keep in mind people, Griffin's coming off a torn ACL, only to dislocate his ankle this season. Now I don't know what you guys saw this past week, but Griffin's speed appears to be returning slowly but surely. If we can fix this patched up OL next season, I believe we can win the NFC East again. Winning starts with consistency, so this Gruden news should definitely be taken as a positive.

That Rotoworld blurb doesn't mean much, they don't really report or try to get any of their guesses on what could happen next in a situation correct anyway.

I'm glad they aren't getting rid of Jay and I agree that RG3 stays in all likelihood. Had he not played in that Giants game and Colt started the rest of the season, I might not be as confident about that, but I think he has saved himself.

Something that wouldn't be surprise me though would be Jay taking a QB in the 3rd or 4th round...

Meh...I don't know. Never can trust them saying this at this point of the year.

But, I think he will stay, and so will Griffin.

Their futures with the Redskins are likely tied together. Gruden better put in time this offseason figuring out how to make Griffin succeed.

This will end up being the worst mistake Danny made in 20 years. Bruce needs to go Jay needs to go. I guess this means Jim Haslett will be back to.

not necessarily true.  Remember the upside to Danny interfering.  He can get rid of people that the coach might want to keep.  Like getting rid of Wuerrful when Sprrier was coach

This 'it's Gruden or RG3' media rhetoric is annoying. It's written like a foregone conclusion.

If anything, his 4th year contract number is a bargain for a backup for what he can bring to a team.

Anyway, I'm pretty confident he'll perform average to even above average in these last two division games. And, I'm fairly sure he's a lock to be here next year.

Finally, I truly believe he's the best QB we have and has chance to be special in 2015.

I still don't believe Griffin is sent packing this year. I believe they give him another offseason and a chance to compete next year in training camp.

Hell no.  He is already paid for with picks just like Jay is paid for with that 20 mil

Someone has to be losing their job after this season. If Jay is safe, Haslett will probably be the sacrifice and rightfully so. Of course something happening to Bruce, change of title or outright firing, would really be a big win.

I think the media overblows everything and I think some shady things are going on out there and reporters are either being fed BS or .. who knows. Just get rid of Haslett ... and let's roll with RG3 one more year with Gruden. Maybe Gruden can work some magic with a full off-season and RG3 is humbled. Build the OL, have some offensive consistency ... and see what 2015 brings. If nothing good from QB, then address QB in 2016.

I think it's entirely possible they are both back next year. The problem is figuring out how that's a good thing.

What we've seen this year is Gruden not knowing how to coach any improvement from Griffin, nor being able to design an offense that he could be comfortable in. While meanwhile he has put him down in public and reportedly in private.

So, I do kind of think Gruden being back means the end of Griffin in Washington. It's just how I mean that might be different from how you're looking at it.

Good. I honestly would quit supporting this team if they fired Gruden after this one year.

I have a solution for the RG3 situation... This off season, offer him a one year extension to his contract at or near his current pay. If he accepts, he will have one last chance to EARN the starting position by getting back to basics and mastering such things as how many steps to drop back on which plays and proper passing mechanics. If he gets his **** together, great. If not we can still trade him next year and at least get something back. If he doesn't take the extension offer, we have to look for trade right away. Get what we can and cut our losses.

Great mobile QBs aren't great because they can run. They are great because they can run, IN ADDITION being a great traditional QB.

I don't think your solution is legal under the current CBA.  They can extend him in the way that makes him like 16 mil that year or let him go.

I seriously distrust the local media..

I feel they get more attention and more copy when they can create controversy.

Everyone knows I'm not high on RG3, but I saw something genuine between Gruden and Robert on the sideline, which

tells me they can indeed work together to improve his field vision and pocket presence.

This team never fails to make a splash so welcome Rex Ryan as your new DC..

I think it is a good thing that Gruden will be back...This is basicly the same team as last year and Gruden didn't pick these current players..Let him put his stamp on this team before everyone crucifies Gruden..I think if they draft OL with the first two picks everyone will see this offense explode..They just have to get rid of hasslet and morris..
