Redskins / Giants Prediction Thread: Thursday Night GHH Chocolate Chip Cookie Edition

When: Thursday Night

Where: FedEx Field

Redskins vs Giants; what more can be said.

A divisional game with an equally struggling team [ record-wise ], with the loser securing last place in the division, even though it is still early.

The Giants come off a win at home against the Texans, a team we faced in week 1, Eli and co. played a scrappy game against them, but it was against a Texans team which even though beat the Redskins, they were without their star RB and are not really considered a power offense in any respect.

The Redskins come off a very hard fought loss against the Eagles, on the road, and some questions were answered, while others were not. Cousins came in and played much better than expected, actually played outstanding, except for a hiccup int late in the 4th, but overall a very solid performance.

The problem is with the 'Special Forces' team, which played more like another 'special' group that I feel should not be mentioned. Kai forbath missed a FG, but I can't really hate on the guy, he did make 18 in a row, its just this miss was more crucial.

The defense, well, i'm kinda on the 'ehh' side; the front played to stop McCoy and Sproles, but couldn't generate any pressure on Foles. Couple that with a few questionable calls by the refs, and it had all the ingredients for an NFCE game. Hall is lost, and an already suspect secondary will really be tested.

Look for another wild game; I'd expect alot of aerial fireworks, not the ones along the stadium rim. Cousins should have another good game, it all falls on ST play and if the defense can find ways to create pressure.

In the end, too much offense for the Giants to match,

I don't know.  The offense is ranked #2 in the NFL, the defense is ranked #4 in the NFL, and I think they are #2 in time of possession, yet the team is 1-2.  Special teams and turnovers killed them in game one and special teams and untimely defensive penalties killed them yesterday.  By all rights, they could be, and maybe should be, 3-0.

I have a bad feeling about the Redskins in a must-win, should-win game.  Over the years, they have failed miserably.  There's this culture of losing this team and organization just can't shake.  They are still a little too "Keystone Cop" for me.  Almost every week it's something ridiculous that prevents them from winning.

...in another shoulda, woulda, coulda game that will end in utter misery.  I hope I'm wrong, but I've seen this movie over and over and over again. :(

Big game in my book for the Redskins psyche.  If this is the same team we've known for over a decade they will likely lose for the following reasons:

1.  its early in the season, technically not a must win and its a divisional game

2.  they just came off of a big performance and expectations are high.

3.  its on prime time and at home

This is the type of game we've lost plenty of in recent years.  Hopefully we've overcome the losing culture and win 24-17.

I honestly think that these Thursday night games are complete and total luck. I think it comes down to whatever team wakes up on Thursday morning with more players feeling like human beings.

I agree I hate Thursday night games. It's just not good football. Hope we somehow squeak out a win.

I like our chances.  Cousins comes back to Earth a little bit but the defense carries the day with some turnovers.

So Cousins was supposed to come back down to Earth against Philly (which is a much better team than the Giants), but according to you NOW he comes back down to Earth.  LOL.

The Giants beat the Texans after Fitz throws 3 INTs, one returned all the way to the 1 yard line.  Still Fitz was able to throw for almost 300 yards and a TD...Personally I feel Cousins will do better than that.

I hope DJ is ok by this game, in the past he has murdered them.  Our pass rush must get to Eli.

Philly barely survived us in their own house and got really beat up in the process (just look at some of the hits Foles and McCoy took throughout the game). We absolutely need this game to stay in this division race, and you could tell the sense of urgency from the last two games.

I'll be curious as to how Haslett game plans with the loss of Hall.

This will be a test for him, all good DCs can make adjustments/next player up mentality to help alleviate any loss of a player.

If he can't, i'd prob guess this will be a 40+ game on both sides. Just gotta have a higher number after the 4 than the Giants.
