November 28 at 6:30pm · Wildlife concerns: The Gardner Police Department was contacted recently about concern over the possibility of a mountain lion being in the area of Celebration Park. In an effort to determine if there was a possibly dangerous animal in the area we deployed two trail cameras to check for activity in the area. We are glad to report that over the time they were up we did not see a mountain lion. We were however surprised by some of the images that the cameras did take. We have included a few of these images for your review. We now have another different concern. We are attempting to identify some of the wildlife and activity in these images. We would like to sincerely thank the persons responsible as it made our day when we pulled up what we expected to be hundreds of pictures of coyotes, foxes and raccoons. Thank you to the citizens who noticed the cameras. Your effort and sense of humor are greatly appreciated. An officer from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office was called out to assist this week after the wild beaver was spotted wandering the aisles of the bargain market in Charlotte Hall, Maryland. By the time she arrived, the buck-toothed animal had apparently made his way to the store's selection of Christmas trees for sale. But those conveniently packaged portions of what appeared to be the beaver's favorite food, much to his disappointment, weren't what they seemed. Yes, these trees were artificial. Twitter/St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Afterward, the beaver continued rummage through the holiday decorations on display for something real to snack on, evidently finding the options to be sorely lacking. There is something to be said for it, though. As unoriginal as it is, it does communicate to someone who sees a band's logo that they are a death metal band and said person may further look into the band when they may have otherwise not done so.
