NYT: My 70-Year-Old Mother Spends Too Much on Porn. What Should I Say?

My mother, who is in her early 70s and was widowed about a year ago, has been struggling to adjust to life without her husband. As her only child, I have also been struggling to find ways to be helpful. Finances have been a particular challenge for her; one concern is the cost of her cable and streaming subscriptions.

Recently, she has added subscriptions for four separate premium pornography channels, adding $160 per month to her already exorbitant cable bill. Although my mother is an avid internet user, she evidently doesn’t understand that there’s ample free pornography available online.

Should I discuss this issue with her? I’m aghast at the amount of money she’s spending unnecessarily on porn, but I’m incredibly uncomfortable with the prospect of having a conversation about it. — Name Withheld

How would you handle it?

"Mom, have you heard of pornhub?"

Just say that she's spending a lot of money on sites and she can find some on the internet that are free. Talk to her! She's 70 FFS and obviously savvy enough to find porn for $$. Suggest some sites if you know of any that are free.

Honestly, as over the top as some things are on the Internet regarding porn and all the malware that can come with it...leave her ass alone.

Complaining about a cable bill, do you have any idea how expensive a nursing home is?  Miss me with this saving money ****, that end of the Internet is not a safe place and we all know it.

My understanding is that the Mafia got back into the porn business the last couple decades. Mainly for all the credit card information. 💳

Leave your mom and her porn alone.  We all know the only reason you’re worried about this is your inheritance. And quite frankly, there is no inheritance you deserve more than the torture of dusting off old vhs tapes in order to separate your late mother’s collection of family home videos and bizarre vintage kink porn.

You had better hope your mom didn’t have one too many glasses of wine on that cruise your dad took her on for their 25th anniversary.

TISHA CAMPBELL Stumbles Across Late Dad's Porn Stash ... 'YOU NASTY A**!!!'

Tisha Campbell made a pretty hilarious discovery in cleaning out her late father's home following his death ... coming across a seemingly endless collection of porn DVDs.

Tisha's dad, Clifton Campbell, died Nov. 1, but the actress and her family were able to enjoy some comedic relief as they found the X-rated stash going through his belongings.

The "Martin" star joked she could open up her own porn store as she sifted through titles like "Gaping Black Buttholes," "White Ho's With Bros," and "Black Cobra." Of course, each DVD came complete with sexually explicit graphics on top.

Funny enough, Tisha also tells a story of how she recently told her 76-year-old dad he needed to get rid of his outdated DVD player ... and how it's now clear why he fought her to keep it. "Now we know why, you nasty a**!" she quipped.

I hope he haunts her. She deserves it.

Might be just what she is wishing for...

or as Paul Simon wrote years ago about that most human condition of loneliness

"But I get no offers
Just a come-on from the whores on 7th Avenue
I do declare, there were times when I was so lonesome
I took some comfort there, la-la-la-la-la-la-la"

My mom was in her 80s and I accidentally caught her looking at porn on the computer once lol...I thought the best course of action was to act as if I didn't give one single rat's ass if she did or not and just avoid acknowledging it. Which is actually the truth, but still wish I didn't have that experience (thankfully all she was doing was watching it). My dad, on the other hand, proudly showed me his porn tapes when he was in his late 70s lol...wish I hadn't experienced that, either.
