Ball Security
Along with the Gibson news, the VA elections are going to be razor thin. Currently the Rs have the House and the Ds have the Senate. According to Wiki, the Ds have the edge in the Senate 20-17 with 3 tossups. If they hold their line and hit .333 on the tossups, they’ll keep control of the Senate. The Ds also have an edge in the House 49-47 with 4 undecided (including Gibson’s race). Both have one race that tilts in their direction and one that leans in their direction. The Rs have 5 likely to the Ds 1 - meaning there are more safe/solid D seats than R. It’ll be something to watch to see if resources abandon Gibson and go to the other three toss ups and the four tilt/lean races.

LadySkinsFan
I think it's stupid to do porn for pay (because that's what tips are) on a semi public website and then run for public office. It goes to a person's decision making skills. I mean, did she think that it would never come out? If nothing else, look to the efforts TFG went to so nothing was ever recorded anywhere and where is he? His goose is cooked in Florida case because a witness flipped. Going back to Nixon even. That's hubris.
ixcuincle
After reviewing the videos in question yesterday I can say 1) the webcam quality is pretty ****ty lol and 2) they really aren't that bad. If I were in her district I would vote for her. She is a good person. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/susanna-gibson-virginia-legislative-candidate-livestreamed-sex-videos-draws-support/ "Anybody who looks at this knows it's a hit job," said Amanda Linton, a 45-year-old defense contractor who donated $25 to Gibson's campaign after reading about the videos. Linton said she plans to donate another $100 to Gibson's campaign even though she can't vote for her because she lives outside her district. "It's just nobody's business. She didn't break any laws by doing this. She had sex with her husband. I mean, my God," Linton said.
Simmsy
I've had a lot of people tell me that I should run for office, it think it has more to do with myself being a light skinned black guy who "speaks well" more than anything else. Anyways, I've always wanted to run...but I've never done it...why do you think that is?... Granted, nothing like THIS is out there on myself, but I've done some ****.**** that wouldn't get me elected, not bad, but bad enough. I'm going to sit here, criticize and stay in the shadows. Now, what she did was stupid, but shouldn't disqualify her (in the public's mind) from running. She hurt no one, it was between her and her husband and its no one else's business...even though everyone else can see it. Personally, I'd use that to run AGAINST the direction Youngkin is trying to take our state in. Also, stop with the sex crime stuff, no one is falling for that and it can't be a "hit job" if you actually did the deed. Hope she wasn't talking about marriage values or some ****.

PleaseBlitz
I don't really have a problem with what she did, but I'm not a bible-thumping prude. She didn't break any laws and it was all done with her husband. Best I can come up with is "she made a bad decision" which certainly matters when you are running for office. Of course, sex is involved, so it's going to be a big deal. I think this is a purely political issue and my 2 thoughts are (1) it will take a very skilled politician to turn this to her advantage or just a wash and (2) so far her opponent is playing it exactly right, he said "“I’m sure this is a difficult time for Susanna and her family, and I’m remaining focused on my campaign.” I don't know enough about the district, but it will certainly be interesting to watch.

China
Never gonna happen. Employers want more work out of their employees. So if they can do the same work in 4 days, then with 5 days they can do even more. Or, they'll just make them work longer, so four 10-hour days instead of four 8 hour days. Larry
Yeah, Uncle Bernie's "benefits should go to the workers" seems to assume we eliminate a day's work, and keep the same pay.
The Evil Genius
The 40hr workweek concept is outdated though. Scandanavia and other parts of Europe consistently have a 32-37 hr workweek and not surprisingly have some of the happiest workforce on the planet. It's hard to fathom Americans ever letting go of the 40 hr workweek idea, but I suspect a change is coming (much like telework has become a staple, albeit for another reason). 3
dfitzo53
Yeah there is at least some movement in that area in the past couple years. It'll be interesting to see whether it has any staying power, but some companies have experimented with it and reported positive results.

The NH House has 400 seats in a state with like 1.4 million residents so each representative represents like 3500 people.

ixcuincle
all these political ads are infiltrating my football now. I haven't gotten any ads from states that I'm not eligible to vote in (used to get NC ads all the time on ACC network for Lindsay Graham or his opponent...dude I can't vote in your state why are you showing me this ad) The ad I'm most peeved about these days is the Russet Perry / Jean Segura ads. They are running for State Senate here. One them ads just popped up when I was trying to watch a podcast on my Youtube tv in my home office. Russet like pops up so cheerfully on the screen like some sort of power ranger like RUSSETT PERRY STATE SENATE and i'm like it's 8:45 am I havne't had coffee yet I'm not ready for your enthusiasm girl And that's not even the worst ad in this race. The Segura one is terrifying. They have this Russett Perry stand in who isn't her, but you can tell it tries to be her with the blond hair from the head down, they don't show her face, how is that allowed? I love fall. It's not hot anymore. But gosh do I hate fall political ads. Political ads should be illegal.
