Posting my thoughts as we go: -Chase Young is explosive. -Holcomb still does the catch and drag tackle technique -Smith-Williams isn’t off to a good start. Getting steamrolled in the run game. Mediocre at best pass rusher -Bostic struggling to tackle and overrunning everything. -Still seem to struggle in man and don’t allow the rush to get home -Zone drops are sloppy -All the backers are getting displaced at the point of attack. That’s not just a today concern. Our edges who aren’t defensive linemen don’t set the edge real well. Sweat and Young fix that a bit, obviously. But making them continually set the edge make them less dangerous. -McTyer saved a touchdown by staying hip pocket on the Jones deep ball. -St-Juste changes the man coverage dynamic instantly when he’s in. -That Phillips guy is all over the field and seems to be a fairly sure tackler. Having said that it looks like they were picking on him. -Fitz gets rid of the ball quick but is off with his accuracy. -Gibson and McLaurin are doing just fine. -Humphries is a good slot as long as he keeps his feet. -OL looks good. -Heinicke is elusive and throws real well on the move. Holds the ball longer than Fitz but has pretty on point accuracy. Lack of arm strength is definitely there, though. It’s not weak, but it’s not zippy. I think he is very Fitz like in the sense he’ll toss one to triple coverage and pray from time to time. -Dyami Brown is going to be good. Once again, told ya so -Barber is steady. Good for a few. But he lacks that burst once he sees daylight that makes him vulnerable to making the roster. -Hemmingway matched up against big ends/OLBs in pass pro is scary. -Bates is steady. He will end up being TE2. -OL depth is a bit scary at tackle. -I see NO reason Patterson shouldn’t make the roster over Barber. I also don’t see why he shouldn’t touch the ball 10 times a game. -If Seals-Jones makes the team he is literally just a guy. For those that didn't catch his first series: It was a little timid, just missing the play, minimum aggression. It was a very small sample size likely to get him use to NFL game speed.
