Rookies are in green. I'm missing 2-3 players from somewhere. Let me know if you know where :ols:

Okay, so we already know of a couple new players/underdogs, as possible man-crushes (Reyes, Patterson)

So, among the group of players on this roster that most of us have never even heard of, which one do you see, as someone who at least has people suddenly taking notice of their impressions in TC, and thinking, maybe they have a chance ?

Perhaps Tyrone Swoops in, suddenly, to grab that TE2 position (or TE3 or even 4) ?

Swoops, like Thomas, also started out at as a QB before the TE switch, so maybe that works for him too

I know we can flex DTs out to DE, but our DE depth after Chase/Montez is very weak.

Toohill is a JAG. Smith-Williams is JAG or slightly better.

these new guys, WBK and Shaka, both seem undersized, Shaka especially so.

WBK in particular is the pick I’m least sold on. Someone please tell me why I should be excited for him, I want to be an optimist so I need something on him to cling to lol

Toney is VERY small for the position I feel like, I almost thing he’d be better at LB but I hate drafting just to change someone’s position like that.. his speed is silly though

reminds me of Dadi Nicolas out of VT a few years ago

I’m also worried about LB depth if Jamin goes down, we still need more there

I’m weirdly fine with FS. I liked Reaves last year, and I think Forrest can handle FS

Looking at this chart, there will be some tough choices to be made at a few spots.

I'm pretty sure that I heard RR say in his radio interview this evening that we have 4 open spots to sign free agents (not Undrafted free agents, but vets.)  If we have 90 guys, isn't our roster full?  Did I mishear him, or do I have the roster limit wrong?

Here’s my contribution to the roster tracking/prediction thread. Key is at the bottom to explain the formatting.

Edit: I know Badet isn’t on the roster anymore... just hadn’t removed him from this image yet. By my math that’s 89 total.

Overall a decent list, but I highly doubt Kyle Allen is on the PUP. For one, his injury simply wasn't that bad. In fact, he's probably healthy now. But all one has to do to avoid the PUP is pass a physical. That's something Alex Smith and Rueben Foster and Bryce Love could all do, even if none of them were really at the level they wanted to be at.

Besides a dislocation, he did suffer a minor fracture. But in this February report, it said he was expected to be fully healthy in April.

So, even if he had a setback, he should almost certainly be totally ready for TC.

And in this February videos, he looked to be on pace for an April recovery date.

You may want to turn down the volume though, as some people may not be in agreement with the tunes that motivate Allen's rehab.

Didn't bother me, but there's bound to be people, who are bothered by the music.

Anyhow...candidate for Comeback Player of the Year, 2021 ? :)

Don’t see why not. Terry, Samuel, Brown, Humphries, Cam Sims and one other

I think it’s also contingent on whether or not McTyver makes the team as our primary KR.

I’d be pretty surprised if we didn’t. The depth is definitely there.

I dont know if we keep 4 RB's. Samuel will get enough looks out of the backfield that we wont need too.

7 WR's would be my guess.

I dont think they are done at TE. Reyes is going to be sitting for a year. Will probably add a vet or UDFA there at some point. By the way is Reyes protected because he is a foreign player?

This roster is stacked.

It’s an interesting point on RBs re: Samuel. I don’t think he will be used much as a traditional RB, even if he gets regular carries out of certain formations. So it’s possible they look at it that way (or possible they just don’t feel like a 4th RB is worth it regardless), but I’m not sure he has that much impact on who we keep at RB. Samuel doesn’t cover us at all for an injury to Gibson, for example. If Gibson goes down and all we have his McKissic and Barber, all of a sudden it becomes very clear what we are trying to do depending on which one is on the field...

100% agreed on TE. I think we need to bring in someone to be the #2 while Bates and Reyes learn the ropes. Maybe Jesse James? Mycole Pruitt? There’s a few options out there still.

As far as Reyes being protected goes... I don’t believe he’d be protected automatically as a foreign player. Even if he would have been, technically we signed him before he was assigned to any team, so I don’t think he’d qualify as being part of that program anyway.

That said, last year as part of the new practice squad rules I believe teams were able to protect 4 practice squad players each week. So assuming that is still in place for 2021 they may opt to go that route with him.

Eager to see the Barber conversion to QB!

Did you mean Allen and 4 QBs, or 3 QBs with Montez over Allen and 4 RBs?

Really curious if the plan is to keep a designated returner like Deandre Carter. It’s not something we’ve done in a while but the return game did clearly hurt us last year. And there aren’t a lot of obvious candidates for that role that would make the roster at their primary position. Possibly Humphries as a PR? Danny Johnson could stick as the KR and provide some depth at CB. That’s about it.

I think Heinecke won a spot over Allen. Montez with the high ceiling gets a year on the roster to see what he can do before they address the position next year.

I guess it's not impossible to see Montez lasting another year on the PS, but I doubt it.

Listening to Ron's interview on Bmithch and Finlay the other day I dont think Allen is going anywhere. Ron really likes him. My guess is Montez is heading to the practice squad again.

I'm curious what the practice squad rules will be this year. The size and eligibility requirements were relaxed last year for COVID. I imagine that might be scaled back a bit, particularly around veterans being eligible... but maybe not.

Traditionally, a player like Kyle Allen would have way too much time on an active roster to be eligible for the practice squad. I don't think he will anyway though, the coaching staff loves him.
