New Stadium News?

Snyder is getting desperate now. The ol' deflection approach he always takes - smother negative coverage with a new story you plant - will not work. Other owners want him out.

Leaking this stadium news - Loudon, Woodbridge.....maybe Danville is next, beside the Caesars Virginia casino 🙃- creates the buzz he wants, but it doesn't change the fact that he is irreversibly radioactive. Don't discount what Petersen has said. He's not some cookoo, and if he said it, you can be sure he's not a lone ranger holding that sentiment in those Richmond chambers.

I mean, I really am curious how it has anything to do with holding in sound.

What kind of material is translucent, isn’t so outrageously expensive that it could be used for the whole exterior of a NFL stadium and holds in sound? You would also need something that holds up to severe weather. You can have sound proof glass, but that will be expensive plus the upkeep of it doesn’t seem feasible for an owner that can’t even keep the stands from collapsing in his current stadium.

I was mainly asking what the material will be if he goes that direction and how will it give our team a home field advantage? The rest of my post was tongue and cheek.

But some have said that this kind of stadium won’t be built, so I guess it doesn’t matter. However, I am interested in material for a smaller project for a studio that would be translucent and have sound proof properties. I haven’t begun my research, that’s for this fall.

I am no expert, just generally curious

The MD proposal includes not a single nickel towards the construction of a new stadium, and they are not going to change that stance. If the legislation under consideration in VA fails, Snyder will have no choice but to fund a stadium himself. He cannot. Those renderings released a few days ago don't change a thing.

This key if he going to sell. If he can't put up stadium he is done.

I don't see us actually getting a new stadium until Snyder is gone. That's the long and short of it for me.

So I have a question. Not so much directed at you. Just using your reply as spring board. So take Bezos out of the equation. Lets say Dan decides tomorrow to sell. Obviously new owner is going to want a new stadium as well. So my question is this. If a new owner comes in and goes to Maryland and VA for money for a new stadium are they immediately willing to work with the new owner or they want to wait to see what they are getting with new owner first? Im not including DC due to too many obstacles nor Bezos in this.

Well yes even with a new owner won't be a quick thing. Just in general I think a new owner with a new perspective could be good for the goal for a new stadium. Regardless of how it goes, can't see it happening for awhile yet which is a shame.

I think the who is very important here. If you happen to lure in someone with ties to the region that already does business here, that could be a little bit of a speed boost.

What was up with Rivera’s tweet earlier with the “Command Post” team headquarters concept? He said headquarters, training fields, bubble, etc. All new and state of the art in the way our facilities have never been, I assume. Was that supposed to be separate from stadium rumors, built where the current headquarters is? Or was that a tease of something that could be built next to the stadium on that huge plot of land we’ve been talking about? Or neither?

They want to build everything together in one area. No more Ashburn essentially. The training facilities, offices and stadium would all be on the same land.

Sure, but Rivera tweeting that has a purpose, it wasn’t his idea. I know Rivera is not a normal HC in terms of the scope of his involvement, but still, no HC cares about digital renderings of imaginary facilities that might or might not exist in 5 years, and they don’t care about presenting it to the fans as clear propaganda on twitter either.

So what’s the angle for the FO here, who is (failing to be) pressured by the implications of that tweet? They’re bad at it, but the FO is playing a game with the parties they think are involved in the new stadium process.

From cursory reading, it appears the funding is more of a future tax break than an up-front payment. Sadly, local and state governments give these sweetheart deals to bigger businesses all the time.

Snyder would still have to come up with the cash to build the project. The league would probably help out, as they've done elsewhere. The questions for lenders would be whether Snyder is already too leveraged and whether the profit potential is high enough.

If I were considering it, the Loudoun location would appeal because of the upscale demographic there. The stadium isn't central to the profitability here; it's the surrounding entertainment stuff that makes or breaks it financially. Woodbridge and Dumfries are both terrible in terms of accessibility and are downscale. I'd wary of committing multi billions to fund a destination project there.

Can you imagine a situation where three jurisdictions are basically playing a game of hot potato hoping not to be the one left holding the potato and winning the rights to host the new stadium?

An entertainment destination project at the Dulles quarry site would seemingly be a winner. I can imagine politicians falling all over themselves for a big moneymaker like that.

Thing is, it probably doesn't need a Commanders stadium to work, just the way National Landing doesn't.

If anything, a Snyder stadium would be a drag on the entire thing, since there is so little demonstrated demand for the team. The only reason to plop down a big useless concrete bowl into a project like that is to generate foot traffic.

If I'm a banker, I'm not seeing the numbers add up.
