max21
Laviolette is a great coach, he took Nashville to success that franchise had never seen before. Even more so than when Trotz was there. I’ve been getting really bummed lately not having weekday hockey to look forward too. Can’t wait to see Lunqvist, still on the fence about the Shultz signing. It also sucks Adidas made like 6 of the Reverse Retro jerseys, I really wanted to buy one.

Cooleyfan1993
anyone know if the 2021 schedules have been announced yet? Or will that not be known until the start date and divisions are confirmed?

It will be a short season with only 56 games.
skinsmarydu
Canada Division has 7, others 8. Everything else makes sense, but how will the playoffs be handled that way?

Either we'll have the vaccine by then and things will work out, or they'll do another bubble, probably, since that was pretty effective last time. Can this new coach lead our team to the playoffs? They’re still an elite team, it does suck Hank went down he was probably going to split with Samsonov. We now have Samsonov (who was great last year but coming off a weird accident) Copley (decent backup) and Vanecek (another young Russian prospect, apparently been playing great in Hershey) Blueliners were the biggest question mark coming into this offseason. They added Justin Shultz from Pittsburgh who was a key defenseman in the back to back cup wins for them, his play has since fallen off a bit but he’s still an elite passer and I think they’re hoping he bounces back with a new club. A under the radar signing is they got Trevor Van Riemsdyk from Carolina which was a great signing imo. Other than that Lundqvist was the other main signing. Laviolette is a well known respected coach around the league, he’s known for getting the most out of his players and isn’t soft at all. He’s took Nashville to success they’ve never seen before and has been to the finals multiple times. The offense is obviously still loaded with firepower but after the bubble playoffs it was evident they needed a new coach since they looked so lackluster and Laviolette was a great hire to motivate the team. 1

Hersh
It's suck for Lundqvist but he has sucked for a few years now. Losing him should not make a difference on this team.
c slag
So with Lundquist out for this season (wishing him a speedy recovery) Do you think the Capitals sign another veteran goaltender before the season opener?

No. Lundqvist was a signing of opportunity, not of need. Samsonov will be our starter, and I'm confident in the capabilities of Vanacek and Copley as backups. 2

Springfield
So I saw the schedule and I really like it. All games against division opponents. Play two games in a row against the same team. Seems like it’ll make for some interesting hockey.
PokerPacker
Huh. So Caps signed Craig Anderson to a tryout. Guess they haven't given up on finding a veteran backup.
