Confession time. I used to love Breuer, he was eccentric, but could tell one hell of a funny story. This Maga routine of his is very recent, I just don't understand. If that is the way you feel about things, so be it, but you have to make your business and career ALL about it? I don't get why these idiots make their business, the way they earn a living, all about this as well. Do you think I want to go into a store that has a "Let's Go Brandon" sticker on it? Enjoy your new friends, Jim. You're career is over as you know it.

His career ended a long time ago. This is him trying to make a buck.

Because at this point comedians who are on the right have 2 realistic paths:

1. Be a comedian who happens to be conservative or hold conservative views. This is very possible to do, but it requires you to actually be a funny/good comedian. This is hard. Doable, but hard, and it requires making your conservative leaning jokes be actually funny, so it's not as easy as...

2. Be a "conservative comedian" whose entire schtick is telling conservative "jokes" are that so obvious, low-hanging, and usually just punching down on people you hate while having the cadence of a joke, usually without actual punchlines.

As you can see, option #2 is sooooooooo much easier. So somebody like Jim Bruer just has to go on stage and say "Look, I'm somebody that got vaccinated! Durr! (fall on floor and pretend to have siezure)" and wait for the right wing audience to laugh at how hilarious this thing they all agree with is. If you're a washed up comedian who peaked with stoner and heavy metal humor in the early 90's, which path would you rather take to try and make a few quick bucks 30 years after your peak?

I find it very funny about 15 or so years ago Conservative (what I use to consider myself, so I know of what I speak) use to **** endlessly about Jon Stewart and the "scourge" of "clapter" (aka, jokes that are meant to get applause from an agreeing audience instead of being funny) are now themselves relying entirely on this style of comedy to stay relevant and pretend they're actually hilarious and not simply lashing out at groups they hate.

This reminds me of a Patton Oswalt special where he talks about going to Vegas and killing the entire. All he did was just yell random things at this incredibly drunk crowd and they all cheered and laughed non stop. Oh Jim, we had a good run I guess. In fact, the more I look at Jim, the more I realize Dennis Miller is doing the conservative comedy thing all wrong.

I replied to this tweet and ended up getting into a days long back and forth "debate" with this lady who's a big time anti-vaxxer and conspiracy theorist (she literally writes articles for RT  :ols: ). She kept throwing out the standard conspiracy theorist nonsense, and I kept batting it down.

I continually asked her for direct evidence for her claim that COVID vaccines weren't safe or effective, and she finally threw out some links to studies. I then pointed out that they either didn't say at all what she claimed they said (by using the dastardly and underhanded tactic of literally quoting the study itself) or were "studies" from known anti-vaxxers and had precisely zero peer review.

She was getting increasingly pissed and incoherent, and finally blocked me.

he doesn't look or sound like he planned financially for his future. Even if the roles he had didn't make him millions and millions. He looks like he needs any gig possible and will say whatever they want to make those few bucks.

I actually think he is a Maga antivaxxer. Just so happens to be the only crowd that will still pay him for appearances.

Maybe. I have my doubts about some of the loudest voices who can grift off that message. Charlestown Casino doesn't want to book him anymore? Well, he needs to find an audience. What can he say that would get him an invite to CPAC? or the Diamond Memorial Fundraiser: To Benefit Silk

I don't know where you find the energy

To me this is like Cirque du Soleil, I see you doing it but I'm not even going to try

Dude, it absolutely is a waste of energy and I probably should never have taken the bait when she responded to me. Which is why I pretty much never get into social media debates. But I still occasionally slip up, and for some reason this time the idiocy was just too over the top for me to let it lie.

And I can also be a stubborn and competitive son of a **** (which I'm sure absolutely nobody on ES has ever noticed, ever) so when she dug her heels in and doubled down on the stupid, I became hellbent on cutting those heels off with a blunt and rusty machete.

The problem, and why it was still a colossal waste of time and energy, is that I know the entire thing will make precisely zero difference to her beliefs. Absolutely nothing will sway someone like that, no matter how many facts and how much evidence you throw at them. They're basically another version of creationists.

She'll convince herself that everything I said was a lie and that I'm just a "sheep who's scared of the truth" (she used pretty much every single Conspiracy Theory Bingo catchphrase when arguing with me, including that one) and then move on.

So in the end, it was pointless. Though it was still admittedly a bit satisfying seeing her get increasingly unhinged and finally block me after I slapped down the "studies" she referred me to. :ols:

Wait....so people who got vaccinated arent magnetic anymore, just convulse?

So, the four year old that lives here came up to me with a magnet on his hand and said "It sticks to me" (it didn't). My first reaction was "Who got to you!? You been reading that Q **** haven't you!? Haven't yoouuuuuu!?". Nah, he had another magnet on the otherside of his hand. He's still safe, he still believes in science, so far.

Here ya go son. From Manitoba

Yet one inconvenient statistic remains: More people died in 2022 either from COVID-19 or in association with the disease in this province than during each of the first two years of the pandemic.
