Miami Herald: I’m done trying to understand Trump supporters. Why don’t they try to understand me?

How are depositors supposed to measure a bank’s investment strategy?  Or, if you really think about your scenario, MANY banks’ investment strategies.

I’m not exactly sure how insider trading law works, but this seems like it would be covered and they’d face serious civil and possibly criminal issues.

Again, not a securities lawyer and just spitballing here.

Good question. I thought a lot of that info was publicly accessible? Maybe not. I tend to stick with national banks and credit unions who from what I can tell are very open with their communications. But maybe I am lying to myself on that.

For this bank, I thought I had read part of the run was because they had accepted/invested a lot in crypto? And that the world of crypto has conditioned people to cash out at first failure.

Regular investors (without insider (or at the very least, very specialized)  information rely on commercial ratings agencies, who do this for a living.

So obviously ... Moody's had SVB as an "A"-rated company until FRIDAY (March 10), when they triggered a run-on the bank by downgrading the bank THIRTEEN NOTCHES in a single jump, from A1 (perfect safe "investment grade" investment, nothing conceivable to worry about) to Caa2 (these ****ers are about to default, nobody in their right mind would have any money here).

people that have not invested in this firm, but are merely using it for a service are expected to be better informed than Moody's, which has unlimited access to SVB books (including all the business-sensitive/business-confidential material).

Michael Cohen to Testify at Grand Jury as Likely Trump Indictment Looms

Michael D. Cohen, the former fixer who for years did Donald J. Trump’s dirty work, is expected to testify before a Manhattan grand jury next week, a sign that prosecutors are poised to indict the former president for his role in paying hush money to a porn star, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

The Manhattan district attorney’s office has already questioned at least seven other people before the grand jury hearing evidence about the hush money deal, according to several other people with knowledge of the inquiry, potentially making Mr. Cohen the last witness.

Once he has testified, nearly every crucial player in the hush money matter will have appeared before the grand jury — with the exception of the porn star herself, Stormy Daniels, who may not be called to testify.

It would be highly unusual for a prosecutor in a high-profile white-collar case to go through a weekslong presentation of evidence — and question nearly every relevant witness — without intending to seek an indictment.

Mr. Cohen’s testimony is the second strong indication that the district attorney, Alvin L. Bragg, will ask the grand jury to indict the former president, possibly as soon as this month. The first came when Mr. Bragg’s prosecutors informed Mr. Trump’s lawyers that if he wanted to testify before the grand jury, he could do so next week, people with knowledge of the matter said. Such offers almost always indicate an indictment is close.

I thought he'd already testified.  I guess he had just talked with prosecutors.  I'm beginning to think journalists don't know what "close" or "imminent" mean, seeing as months go by after something is declared "close" or "imminent" and nothing happens.

NYC Security Preps Underway for Possible Trump Indictment as Soon as Next Week: Sources

Local, state, and federal law enforcement and security agencies are preparing for the possibility that former President Donald J. Trump could be indicted as early as next week, according to five senior officials familiar with the discussions.

Law enforcement agencies are conducting preliminary security assessments, the officials say, and are discussing potential security plans for in and around the Manhattan Criminal Court at 100 Centre Street in case Trump is charged in connection with an alleged hush money payment to Stormy Daniels and travels to New York to face any charges.

The officials stress that the interagency conversations and planning are precautionary in nature because no charges have been filed.

The agencies involved include the NYPD, New York State Court Officers, the U.S. Secret Service, the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, and the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, officials say.

Trump will surrender to face charges if indicted, defense lawyer says

Former President Donald Trump will surrender to face criminal charges if indicted by a Manhattan grand jury, his lawyer said Friday evening.

The lawyer, Joseph Tacopina, spoke on the heels of a report by WNBC that federal, state and local law enforcement agencies are preparing security arrangements for the possibility that Trump will be indicted as early as next week.

“Will follow normal procedures if it gets to that point,” Tacopina told CNBC when asked what Trump would do if that possibility becomes reality.

I'd rather he hid like the coward that he is and then is dragged out in cuffs, but either way...

Nick Adams straddles the line between MAGA earnestness and parody. There is no way he is serious about some of the ridiculous stuff he posts. But he stirs the pot and gets a ton of eyeballs on his Tweets from both the mouth breathers and the opposition he tries to rile.

So he’s a cynical, amoral ****. Alternatively he’s as dumb as a box of hammers.

He absolutely has to be parody. Wasn't he asking why Tim Tebow wasn't starting in the NFL last year or something?
