Don Jr. Gets Swift Reminder After Throwing Homophobic Shade At Zelenskyy For Performing In Heels

Donald Trump Jr. once again took aim at Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy by suggesting the United States should stop backing the Ukrainian war effort because Zelenskyy once appeared in a sketch as part of a boy band who wore heels and revealing clothing.

Before entering politics, Zelenskyy was a well-known comic actor who appeared on several sketch shows on Ukrainian television. One such program showcased him and fellow actors performing as Kazaky, a once-popular boy band whose members became known for performing in high heels.

While Trump Jr.'s post appeared to capitalize at least in part on the recent right-wing frenzy against drag performers who Republicans have baselessly accused of grooming children, many were quick to remind him of his father's own history with drag and sketch comedy.

Trump Stiffed Local Cops. Now It’s Coming Back to Bite Him.

As Donald Trump’s Secret Service detail—and the size of his MAGA rallies—has ebbed and flowed, one standard operating procedure for the former president has remained constant: Whenever possible, stiff the contractors.

For all the “back the blue” merchandise one can buy at a Trump rally, finding an event where the cops actually working it had their overtime covered by the campaign is surprisingly difficult. But there’s a cost for Trump, too; the hefty bill that he tends to leave with local governments means the ex-president may have to search for even smaller, more obscure rally venues for his 2024 campaign.

In Sioux City, Iowa, for example, the former president owed more than $11,000 in unpaid reimbursements to the city police and fire departments from a rally he held there on Nov. 3, 2022. While overtime pay to cops and firemen totaled more than $10,000 on the overall tab, Trump’s Save America PAC also rented several parking lots from the city. After pressure from city officials and the local paper, the Sioux City Journal, they eventually paid up.

In Warren, Michigan, however, a city official—who requested her name be withheld—told The Daily Beast the city has yet to see any repayment from Trump for the overtime pay that cops racked up from a MAGA rally held on Oct. 1, 2022, at the Macomb Sports and Expo Center, a 2,800-seat dual arena and convention center.

In Lorain County, Ohio, Trump was joined at the county fairgrounds by Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Jim Jordan (R-OH) for a rally in June 2021. On Tuesday, local police told The Daily Beast they couldn’t find any reimbursements for any Trump rallies.

Of the 30 counties and municipalities The Daily Beast contacted to ask whether they’d been reimbursed for local cops and firemen supporting a Trump rally, just one—the city of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania—responded to confirm they got any money back.

Donald Trump Jr. Mocked For Most Head-Spinningly False Claim About His Dad Yet

Donald Trump Jr. made a claim about his father, Donald Trump, that’s wild even by his lofty standards.

“He doesn’t need their money,” Trump Jr. said on Thursday at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) when asked about his father’s appeal to the grassroots vs. the corporate interests.

Other politicians, he said, are beholden to donors “if they want that money to continue.”

Trump Jr.’s father entered politics in 2015 by claiming his wealth meant he didn’t need anyone else’s money and vowing to self-fund his campaign.

But he’s since raised hundreds of millions of dollars, including half a billion since he lost the 2020 election, according to OpenSecrets.

While Trump Jr. may have been referring specifically to big-money donors and corporate interests, the ex-president has had plenty of those on his side as well as grassroots contributors.

In 2020, Marke****ch reported that Trump raised five times more than President Joe Biden from S&P 500 CEOs, and Forbes identified 133 billionaires or billionaire spouses who contributed to Trump in that election cycle.

Some of Trump’s donors’ money ends up in his own pockets, and some has been used to pay his attorneys.

Not just Trump. For any of these rallies or events from politicians. Demand payment up front. But yeah, especially from Trump.

Yeah, I can't get how anybody doing business with a political campaign would take anything other than cash up front.

I mean, you're dealing with a corporate entity who's business plan is that they intend to be bankrupt, the week after the election.
