Say hello to Waffle. 6 month old German Shepherd/labrador mix as far as I can tell. I got incredibly lucky and got him free from a family off Craigslist. They had to get rid of him cuz the wife had allergies, they got him four months previously at a shelter. He is the fastest dog I have ever seen and jumps high as a gazelle. He runs around my back yard like crazy and can play fetch/chase all day. He seems to like dogs (unlike my previous dog) and people as well. Look forward to going on many adventures with him for years to come. I hope he likes the ocean cuz we are going to the beach tomorrow!

That looks a lot like one of the dogs I walk.  She loves to chase/fetch and if I'm too slow with the door will jump like a pogo stick...boing, boing.  Funny, when we play catch on the tennis courts she always waits for the ball to hit first and then jumps up in the air to make the catch on the first hop.  Very high energy.

Congrats on a nice looking dog! It's amazing how fast they are! Dancer is a runner so I have to be careful opening the front door. At the dog park, she just meanders around when she could run to her heart's content.

Thank you 🙂 Yeah he is by my side all the time, it is hard for me to even open the front door and leave without him following me. He definitely has separation anxiety.  It is also hard getting Waffle in the car (both going and coming). He doesn't get as excited about the car as my previous dog, who went absolutely bonkers.

I've been letting him sleep in my bed, I wonder if I should put an end to that and put him in the crate tonight. I know the little guy is just going to cry all night though.

*edit* This little dude is so smart. I put his bed in my bedroom and told him, "this is where you sleep," and pointed to my bed and said, "no." He slept in his bed all night without jumping in my bed. I also had the crate nearby, he probably understood that his choices were his bed or the crate. He made a good choice!

Dancer loves the car! She gets so excited. I make her pee before we get in the car. Her first car ride was when I picked her up in Tampa for the ride home to Alexandria. She was a champ and loved it!

She's sleeping on my lap in the bed as I write. It's chilly here today and she's keeping us warm until I get up.

Good lord this dog is a handful!  I have pretty much given up on ever having a functional pair of flip flops again.  He has taken them four times already and given them a good gnaw.  I get them back and shake them in front of his face saying "no" over and over, but he either doesn't get it or doesn't care.  And man does he dig in the backyard!  Like a lot.  I realize he is probably bored and has energy to burn.  I gave him a chew bone and he proceeded to bury it in the backyard.  I paid like 15 bucks for that!  Guess he prefers chewing on my flip flops.

He does love the dog park though and playing with other dogs.  I guess I'll have to start taking him every day.

Used to have to run my border collies until I knew they'd be zonked and somewhat sore the next day.  Frisbees and longtoss, with breaks when they were winded, then tossing again.  Tug of war with a rope, fetch in the creek where they'd have to swim to get the toy.  I miss that life, but my Maltese is just as playful on a much smaller scale.  It gets me by.  Congrats man, sounds like you got a helluva dog.

I absolutely love her.

We had a Great Dane when I was growing up that was silver with black spots... she had been beaten with chains as a puppy, rescued by some hippies, and my dad brought her home...she was absolutely petrified of everyone but me.  I had bunk beds, she had the bottom one.  :ols:

I need some advice, friends...

I have a 1 year old cat named Razzle. I'm crazy about him. I spend a lot of time at work so I recently acquired a female kitten so that he could have a companion. The kitten's name is Magic. She is from the same mother as Razzle but a different litter.

So... Razzle absolutely HATES Magic. I'm well aware that these things take time and that it is not abnormal at all for a cat to be very territorial. I'm just wondering if any of you guys have been through a similar situation and may have some tips for getting Razzle to acclimate to a new arrival. It's been about 2 weeks and I have made ZERO progress. If they are in the same room, he hisses and growls at her and she freezes up in terror. I have to put her in the bedroom while I spend time with him and I have to put him out (he's an indoor/outdoor cat) while I spend time with her. She is about 8 weeks old. The previous owner has offered to take her back but I don't trust the environment that she would grow up in if she went back home. The goal is to keep her and have peace in my house.

Cat lovers! HELP!

It's gonna take a while, but I'm going through something similar.

First, they want separate litter boxes...this is very common, and I'm glad I remembered Jackson Galaxy saying that...(Google him, he's the best cat behavior specialist on the planet).

I had to introduce a new cat lately, and the boxes are the biggest issue. The hissing is settling down, Ms. Kitty knows she can't "go " where Vicki "goes".

Best of luck!

Thank you! How long has the new cat been there?

She's been a porch kitty for years, bringing her inside has brought its challenges.  But like I said, remembering things Jackson did on "My Cat From Hell" has helped.  All are eating okay, I just needed to add an extra box.
