China
City of Charlotte announces new name for street previously named after Confederate leader Jefferson Davis  The City of Charlotte has announced a new name for a street that was previously named after Confederate leader Jefferson Davis.  Druid Hills Way will be the new name for what was once named Jefferson Davis Street. A public unveiling of the new Druid Hills Way street signs is planned for Sept. 25.  Jefferson Davis Street was the first of nine streets to be renamed following the Charlotte City Council’s Feb. 2021 approval to adopt Legacy Commission recommendations to rename streets previously named for white supremacists as well as Confederate soldiers, slaveowners, and segregationists.  Click on the link for the full article

TradeTheBeal!
And there it is.  Very thankful for this verdict because, otherwise, roving gangs of Antifa would’ve burned Richmond to the ground and we just rebuilt the city from last years mass arson event.  Or so I’m told…   4

Captain Wiggles
Forrest Gump is a national treasure tho. Like Panburger Partner or Moon Mist or Pizza Hat or Honey Nut Scooters. He should be the one with a statue in a capitol building. The man charmed the pants off Nixon and won a ping-pong competition dammit. 2 1

JCB
I'm with Beal on that one, and I have friends who think I kick puppies for fun. But the historical revisionism in that film is vicious.

Captain Wiggles
Whoa whoa whoa whoa....... whoa. You guys are saying Forrest Gump is a dumbed down whitewashed Disneyfied version of American history?  He was an all American return specialist at the University of Alabama. (Roll Tide) I bet nerds like Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton and Abe Lincoln didn't even play football.

You guys are saying Forrest Gump is a dumbed down whitewashed Disneyfied version of American history?  I was particularly put off by the 'I was named after some dude who made a mistake and dressed up like a Ghost' part. But then I saw the context and then it became clear thats how his mother explained it to a developmentally challenged child....so it made sense.  I havent watched this movie in like a decade or more, so I think im picking up and running with too many outside opinions at this point. Need to watch it again.   EDIT: Beal is responsible for this huge tangent, not me. Ill stop now. Edited September 8, 2021 by Llevron
