I'm also really beginning to think that Kirk doesn't even WANT to be here.

Agreed - in his presser Sunday, he really didn't seem to.  But it's okay, I am actually on the fence about Kirk after the meltdowns we saw in the games that really mattered (NYG, AZ Cardinals, Carolina, etc).

All I want to see is Barry gone.

If we'd be so lucky as to get Wade here, i'd be jumping for joy. The emotional boost this team would get across the board by getting a defense that works as a cohesive unit and can make plays is astronomical. It would have an effect, a positive one, on the offense, because it would take so much pressure off the offense to not feel they have to score on most every play in order to have a shot.

Hec, if getting rid of him meant we'd have to give Cousins that big contract, i'd give Kirk the keys to the Brinks truck.

Yeah I like to see Wade land here. Correct me if I'm wrong, Skins interviewed Wade for the DC job when it was available a few years ago. I was hoping to get Wade Phillips, but some how we ended up with Barry. I often wondered if Gruden did not want Phillips around, Wade was a head coach at one time, maybe Gruden didn't want to be looking over his shoulder all the time with Wade Phillips potentially waiting in the background, especially if Snyder and company were getting anxious about lack of  wins and more losses. We already have some coaches with HC experience, so I doubt it ever really was a point on the subject. If that ever was a problem, then why would you interview him in first place?

IIRC Wade didn't looked great in his interview, and there's mixed reports about him really wanting to be here. And he's 69 years old, he's borderline retiring. So I'd rather get younger here.

I'd only sign Garcon if we know for a fact Cousins is locked up. There's no doubt those 2 have chemistry together which increases his value here. He may not be 7mil on the market but he's worth more than that here.

On flip side, if we had another QB I'd be concerned if he would click with Garcon and can probably do as good or better for maybe less.

So, who do you suggest as a younger DC to replace Barry?

Well, we have something to cure Wade of old age, its called 'the Redskins cheerleaders'!!!   Better than Viagra...or so I'm told. :)

But even if he were with the team only a few years, he would find the best assistants available, and maybe one of them would move up to DC when he did leave. Anything would be better than what we have now.

It is being reported on 106.7 The Fan that Garcon won't be back. :( I am hoping it is not true.

No one is even talking contracts yet. Coaches reviews come way before player contracts.

We've been looking for a true #1 for a long time. Doctson is it.

A first round draft pick is not the same thing as a number one.  Everything he did in college is meaningless after the draft.  His draft position is meaningless after the draft.  You cannot say a player is a number one until you have seen him play in the NFL

if Garcon AND djax both leave, i feel like it will have a much bigger effect on the offense than people would be willing to believe, although we also have no idea until we see it lol

The thing is we cant control whether they leave or not. They are both free agents and you are not going to franchise either guy. If they want to move on they will.

I only want one person fired (Barry), and if we can't bring garçon and djax back I'm favoring garçon. Most of the defensive starters is be ok with them competing for a roster spot because even though they are bad starters they'd be ok back ups..

The burn it down folks are just having a wank I think...

I would love to see Gruden take over the offensive playcalling (a la Mike McCarthy), rather than having a 3 headed approach between Gruden, McVay, and Callahan.  Gruden is an offensive mastermind, and I think he'd be really good for getting our offense over the hump in the Red Zone particularly.

McVay is too cute for his own good in terms of play calling, and it really cost us - especially in this last game against the Giants.  He's also not imaginative enough to scheme up an offense that will attack a defense's weaknesses consistently enough.  He may be a great offensive coordinator one day, but I don't think he's there yet and I'm done having him coordinating our team.  We have way too much talent on that side of the ball to waste it the way we have this past season, in particular.

I agree with your point, I just think "mastermind" is a stretch... if he knew how to fix the RZ woes this year and let his OC continue to muck it up, than he is a bigger boob than I thought and be should be fired immediately. I do agree less complicated is better.

Garcon earned his salary demands with the performance this year (I think he dropped one ball on the year!). He plays with heart and passion. That said, 7.6 mill is reasonable... 9 mill or more and we have to let him walk. He was putrid his second year in DC and average last year. He was huge this season. For all the talk about our offense, we would have been. 5-6 win team without Pierre's clutch play.

Barry has to go. If Jay keeps him he is digging his own grave.

Haven't checked much into other teams positional coaches... So I haven't really got a name to throw you to :P

It will require an extensive search from my side :P But @Rattlesnake88 provided a few interesting names like Vrabel or some guy from Georgia...

How can I have forgotten our cheerleaders????

Think I'm in for some kind of punishment I believe....

Besides that our assistants coaches seems good to me on the D side no? Akey, Olivadotti, Manusky, Fewell... Seems great, 2 of them are even old DC.
