Tom Cotton has always been an asshole. The idea Wyoming is full of "Real Muricans" and DC isn't so why should they be a state is classic Republican bull****. How dare y'all work in the nations capital. Go get a real job in Arkansas or Nebraska. Don't you wanna be a man's man and work as a drag line operator?

Also so what if DC consistently elects liberals. How's that any different than places like Arkansas, Mississippi, Wyoming, ect consistently electing Republicans? Oh right we have too many liberals already.

Look at all of the flyover states that have more cows than people, check out how many senators they get. I'm perfectly ok with stacking the deck in liberals favor, maybe that can be a mandate for Biden?

Right, but the thing is that allowing Republicans to frame it as stacking the deck in liberals' favor is already slanting things.

It's just giving rightful representation to a portion of American citizens who don't currently have it.

I didn't mean he should run on DC being a state so the Dems can get some more power, he should run on DC becoming a state period. The extra bonus of the senators doesn't have to be...acknowledged by him directly...

This could backfire on the Democrats. They want to do away with the 60 vote Filibuster. They are assuming they get the Whitehouse and the Senate and the House. So if President Trump wins reelection and the Republicans take back the House and Keep the Senate. The Democrats will have a hard time complaining. The Republicans can just say well we are just implementing your suggestions.

Filibuster reform gains steam with Democrats

Democrats are stepping talks about reforming or abolishing the filibuster if they win back the Senate and White House in November.

The renewed discussions are being spurred by Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), an outspoken liberal who has long championed a revamping the procedural tactic that Democrats see as a serious obstacle to passing legislation and confirming nominees.

Merkley has floated various proposals with colleagues in recent days as polls show former Vice President Joe Biden widening his lead over President Trump and Democrats increasing their odds of picking up the three Senate seats needed for majority control if Biden wins.

This is a really bad idea. It will come back to haunt them just like going nuclear to approve judges during Obama. Now we have two nut cases on the SCOTUS. Assuming that once in control you will always be in control is a very poor way to govern. If they do this they better not whine when it turns around. And it eventually will. Always does.
