I always find it interesting when police have those situations and like 45 minutes later they’re still unsure of the identity of the person they’re dealing with.

There’s lots of ways to handle situations. Being super aggressive with little to no information about what’s going on never works out well yet it seems their default method most of the time.

they’ve charged him with assault on a police officer 😆

all because the officer “attached himself to the car” whatever the **** that means. What did he handcuff himself to a handle? Where’s that on the training? 😆

seriously who the **** would do that.

cant wait for this to be dismissed because the cop was a dumbass and him to sue them for at least the grand prize earnings of the event 😆

The City of Louisville is trying to do what they can to fix this.  Imagine being the mayor or whatever and waking up to this. 😂

I hope they made the arresting officer escort him back to the golf course 😆

Doesn’t the district attorney determine what a person is charged with? I can see one cop being an asshole, but it seems weird that the da would wants to throw the book at the guy.

I think generally they do that but the officer has to put what you’re being arrested for.

im sure this is dropped. He likely isn’t the type to go after them even if he bombs the day and can clearly point to the arrest as why. But he should go after them. And his stance should simply be - I’m lucky, not everyone can have the mayor intervene immediately, an average person would just lose their job, sit in jail, and may have to plead guilty to some of this because they can’t afford to fight it. The cops need to be held accountable, this isn’t how people should be treated.

I doubt anyone will shed a tear for him. But an objective person understands this is how police treat people daily. An average person just trying to get to work… or home from work… if his skin was also a different color… this will go down as an unfortunate and funny situation for him but for many people this could be seriously life altering. And for what? A misunderstanding where half the charges are from a lunatic cop “attaching himself to the vehicle”? Show me that in the ****ing training. That cop should be fired immediately, and every arrest he ever made should be under review.

LOL... dude is leading a major tournament?

I don't care how cool, calm and collected you are.  I would bet on a bad round.

Welcome to America!  Good thing this guy wasn't a minority at least.  "POLICE KILL #1 GOLFER" -- is a bad headline.

I dunno....I put more of the blame on Scheffler for not paying more attention and following commands. That being said no one really knows the specifics of what happened.

At the end of the day nothing will happen, he's a rich white guy and he will beat the charges.

His lawyer says he was following the commands of another officer. But, it’s his lawyer so who knows how true that is.

I highly suspect the driver (Scheffler) was at fault. And the officer also overreacted and missed an easy opportunity to diffuse the situation.

He was at fault for not understanding what was going on in a confusing situation.  His lawyer says a second cop gave conflicting directions. He was 3 cars away from his turn. People do more egregious things in rush hour traffic constantly.

and half of these charges are related to the police officer “attaching himself to” a moving vehicle and then falling to the ground. Which I’ll bet every $ I have is not how he was trained. He also reported he was “dragged” by the car which witnesses gave emphatically refuted.

it’s reasonable to think scheffler did something he shouldn’t have.

the fault for this ridiculously stupid situation is entirely with a cop who seemed to behave dangerously and then lie about what happened.

and if it was a random black dude on his way to work he’d still be in jail, have a life altering situation to deal with, and we’d know nothing about it.

dude needs to be put on administrative leave and every arrest investigated. People don’t one-off act like that. That’s a character problem and I’m willing to bet he’s an exaggerated or outright made up claims about other people he’s arrested.

he was just too stupid to realize he was doing to to a famous person with a national sports media person and camera nearby.
