But I complain when it’s bad writing or recycled characters with no narrative purpose beyond fan service that ends up weakening the previously established story. I don’t see any way this Obi Wan story doesn’t make ANH worse in retrospect. the Mandalorian and Grogu were a new and interesting idea and then they decided to run them thru every single character that’s ever existed in Star Wars and of course a Skywalker had to he included in that too. Star Wars can and should be so much more but because the fan base only wants the same things shoveled down their throat, we will never get it. Hence a pointless Obi Wan series, hence Rise of Skywalker which is a pointless original trilogy highlight reel after backlash to TLJ doing something actually interesting with a popular character. The entire ST was framed around, “let’s just run the OT back to make the fans happy” and the one actual chance they took they had to immediately retcon it because people complained. there can be no nuance to these characters anymore. They have to be cookie cutter frozen in time for all of eternity, and if there is a 5 year span of a popular character we haven’t seen yet, we will damn sure have to explore at some point, especially if it’s Obi Wan or a Skywalker Just to point out, you just posted 4 paragraphs of complaints, after you said you don't complain about everything. Even the Mandalorian, you spend most of the time whining about how they included Skywalker (which canonically, chronologically, and rationally makes sense). You focus on the 5-year span--ignoring there are several new storylines, including Ahsoka, Andor, and the Acolyte. Clone Wars, Rebels, and Bad Batch were really good and well done--but you barely mention them. It's really not a big deal--just wondering why you watch something that you're continually disappointed and annoyed by...but then again, we are Commander fans, so it's probably in our DNA. Vader would definitely be flipping the galaxy upside down looking for the man who’s responsible for him being a cyborg and he is supposed to be hunting down Jedi during this timeframe. I’d also like to see Qui-Gon and Yoda as both of their appearances would make sense according to the end of Revenge of the Sith where Yoda was going to teach Obi-Wan to commune with Qui-Gon. There is a throwaway line at the end of RotS where Yoda tells Obi-Wan about training with a master on Tatooine who has come back from death and Obi-Wan says "Qui-Gon"..but what if it was Mace. This has potential to be mind-blowing. Plus, there are rumors of tying in Fallen Order. Maybe not one of the main characters, but the Haxian Brood could certainly cause trouble.
