LD0506
Here's the thing. He actually said a lot, not "nothing" or "blah, blah, blah". We can't release Robert until after the Super Bowl. We have to release him by March 9th. He's ours until then. Scot send a message to the other 31 teams with that & adding If you want to control where he goes you better call me. So he's still ours for 42 more days, unless someone wants to offer up draft picks for him. And Scott likes draft picks. This Seriously this Scot is a master gamesman, he's working on plans years out that may never come about, but if they do he's already got a plan. This is NOT your father's Redskins FO, the gears are grindin' 24/7, even if no one hears 'em.

And on Cousins & the Franchise Tag, Scott also said this: “You’d rather get a long term deal done, but we have a lot of options we’re dealing with right now and that’s one of them,” Another option is Robert. At least through March 9th. Though no one expects him to be here after March 9th, technically he's the only QB under contract right now. Which plays to the whole meet with the coaches thing he mentioned when Robert was brought up. On if he can see a scenario with QB Robert Griffin III: "Certainly, the thing that’s good about what we have right now is that we have until March 9th, and that’s why I want to sit down with the coaches. Not just the coordinators, the position coach, but everybody individually and just get a feel for it. He is a good football player, he’s a really good person, and he’s under contract. That’s where we’re at right now."
beachboy757
I also like hearing that we plan to keep Garcon & DJax. I know some are ready to move on, but these guys are productive vets and are faces of this franchise. Restructure those contracts and hopefully a WR will fall to us in the draft to compete. ZRagone
Which means Cousins ended up 15th or worst in pro bowl voting at the QB position. Fans should definately not vote... I think part of the problem is WHEN the voting ended. It ended December 14th. Meaning the last game that had a full week for fans to mull over was the December 7th, prime time, Monday night game where the Redskins had a chance to tie up the division and basically laid a giant egg. Our other big national game? The giants game in week 3 which was one of Cousins worst. Additionally, the 1:00 game at Carolina was on for 64% of the country and was again not a great game for Kirk. None of this changes the notion that "fans should definitely not vote", but likely goes a little ways to explaining things. Both as it relates to fans AND the media vote. The narrative on Cousins didn't really start to significantly shift until the four straight wins to end the season, which primarily occurred AFTER the pro bowl voting was concluded. I think it is ridiculous that he ended up that low in the voting, but because of the way the system works I can understand why it was. All the more reason why the pro bowl, especially recently, is a bit of a joke.
Jumbo
Sounds familiar.... A~hem http://es.redskins.com/topic/398548-london-calling-martins-house-of-commons-official-offseason-twitter-thread-crumpets-and-biscuits-extra/?p=10500742 --I've been writing on my analysis that Jay and Scot quickly built a very positive professional and personal connection here since pre-season---often to crickets or to the gnashing of teeth and bunching of panties in many places where the idea that Savior Scot and Dumb Jay might be a lot more on the same page in more ways than one, was unpalatable. And I continued posting on how that steadily increased even through the setbacks. I wrote on how much alike they were in a number of key ways for such a pairing, like how their history shows shared hard-won and consistent success, similar outlooks and approaches and values in general work ethic, passion for the game and its history, and football strategy and more (not that they're twin brothers from different mothers). And the times I'd tell you this stuff on the phone this last year you seemed "open-minded" at best (and not very skippy about ole jay but many still aren't). So way to jump out there now . My biggest wish since the last couple weeks of the season is one that goes beyond that franchise QB---it's the one where we get to have that kind of "home grown" story of an organization where so many key figures are relatively fresh and beginning to build to a serious run of success. It's all pie in the sky, but even just as it is, I'd take the FO, the coaching staff, and more than a few of these current players as a cast that's likely enough to get there.
