In an internal report prepared by the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Inspector General and obtained by NBC News, inspectors noted during a May 7 tour of a border station in the El Paso sector that only four showers were available for 756 immigrants, more than half of the immigrants were being held outside, and immigrants inside were being kept in cells maxed out at more than five times their capacity.

A cell meant for a maximum of 35 held 155 adult males with only one toilet and sink. The cell was so crowded the men could not lie down to sleep. Temperatures in the cells reached over 80 degrees, the report said.

"With limited access to showers and clean clothing, detainees were wearing soiled clothing for days or weeks," the report said.

News of the inspector general’s report follows remarks by acting DHS Secretary Kevin McAleenan on Friday that news stories of poor conditions for children at a border station in the El Paso sector were "unsubstantiated."

Has anyone seen the question?  I haven't.  Does it ask "Citizen?  Yes or No." orr does it ask what a persons citizenship or residency status is forcing those that reply to check off some version of "illegal"?

The question is:

”Is this person a citizen of the United States?" :

• Yes, born in the United States.

• Yes, born in Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or Northern Marianas.

• Yes, born abroad of U.S. citizen parent or parents.

• Yes, U.S. citizen by naturalization (add year).

• No, not a U.S. citizen.

There is no follow up to a ‘No’ answer. What does this data give you? It merges the undocumented with legal visa holders, and permanent residents, many of whom are undergoing a change in status and becoming citizens (thereby invalidating the claim that the question is about voting rights).

Re: above article. The cruelty is by design.

“This administration’s mindset is that their primary focus is on increasing the numbers of removals, even past the point of logic,” said Pierce, the migration analyst“Past administrations acknowledged that someone might be removable, but might have a legal avenue to stay in the country, and if they do, they should be allowed to pursue it, if anything, for efficiency’s sake.”

It bears repeating that the current immigration ****show is completely a result of this administrations desire to inflict harm and pain on poor migrants rather than govern with sensible policy.

Of course it is. Every news story, say, about 50 people locked in a room drinking from a toilet, a good large chunk of the country smiles approvingly.
