Xameil
The comment wasn't directed at the writer of the commentary. It was directed at posters who held it up as some sort of unique perspective on the excesses of the media. And I don't hate racing fans. I don't always understand them and their passion for watching cars go around and around, but I don't hate them. You act like only race fans post stuff like that... You get the same bone headed posts from members of the ultra religious, ultra liberal, ultra conservative, etc. So honestly, singling out race fans....no need. Dont Taze Me Bro
I thought that was a good post Taze. I just had other stuff going on at the time. Yeah, gotta practice what I just preached about in the RT thread though.

EvilMonkeyBoy
Some real news related to this, though.http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nascar-from-the-marbles/in-aftermath-of-stewart-ward-incident--nascar-bans-drivers-from-confronting-cars-133833022.html?soc_src=mediacontentstory NASCAR bans drivers from confronting cars in aftermath of Stewart/Ward incident "During an event if a race car is involved in an on-track incident, and/or is stopped on or near the racing surface, and unable to continue, to make forward progress," Pemberton said, reading from the new rule. "Unless extenuating circumstances or conditions exist with the race car, example on fire, smoke in the ****pit, etc, the driver should take the following steps: shut off all electrical power and if the driver is uninjured, lower the window net. Do not loosen, disconnect or remove any driver personal safety equipment until directed to do so by safety personnel or a NASCAR official. After being directed to exit the race car, the driver should proceed to the ambulance or other vehicle or as otherwise directed by safety personnel or a NASCAR official." "At no time should a driver or crew member or members approach any portion of the racing surface or apron. At no time should a driver, crew member or members approach another moving vehicle. All vehicles not involved in the incident or that are able to continue afterward should slow down to a cautious speed as outlined in [NASCAR rule] 10.4: yellow flag rules." The rule is in response to the incident with Tony Stewart and Kevin Ward at Canandaigua (N.Y.) Motorsports Park Saturday night. After Ward hit the wall, he unstrapped himself from the car and walked down the track to confront Stewart. He was hit by Stewart's car and killed. "It was one of those that was obviously, everybody paid attention to and [the rule] is on the heels of that," Pemberton said.

Bubble Screen
Stewart will never be charged with anything. I've never been so sure of anything in my entire life. This is merely the DA wanting to appease the locals. Nothing more.

CurseReversed
Didn't see that one coming. Stays for about a month, tho, so no idea of the timeline. Which makes it pretty worthless information. But that won't keep people who don't know this from assuming he was high as a kite while racing. The DA is saying it was at a high enough level to impair judgment. Thats a bunch of BS. This is impossible to tell. They would have to know that it was taken hours before the race, after that impairment becomes a really grey area.

Actually you can make accurate assumptions based on concentration levels and other tests. Why do you think people get DWI's for pot? Because it can be traced to recent usage. CurseReversed
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabis_drug_testing I don't think there are any tests that can actually prove your are "high" on pot. There are levels to urine and blood tests, and they can determine very vague ideas as to how much and how recent you might have smoked. Beyond that though there is no reasonable test for "actual" impairment. The DA knows this as much as anybody I would bet. But its a distinction that wont be questioned by the average reader. ALL drivers know that in order to be permitted to drive, they must remain drug free. If Ward had levels high enough to be used to charge with DWI, that speaks volumes about the guys judgement getting behind the wheel of a racecar. People claimed all they wanted was the case to be submitted to the grand jury for charges. It was done. Now that the grand jury declined to indict, the poking begins to try to show it was in the bag for Stewart.
