This FBI agent who called Eric Cantor because he was convinced there was a cover up to save Obama sounds like a typical Hannity zombie. Add in the psychotic shirtless picture stalking and leg humping, he would make the perfect ES Tailgate member

Class distinction. The Secret Service has to use prostitutes but the big brass can have traditional affairs.:ols:

These are hardly new human behaviors for some people at these levels, but it's a lot easier to get caught (with proof) these days. Almost ironic that the very type electronic trails and trackers that are used to prosecute the bad guys help bust our own.

I'm not sure there is a whole lot that separates her actions from that of a prostitute.

Obviously not excusing patreus actions at all. But this writer seems like a fairly straightforward whore. He is probably the bigger idiot though

Now if only the Hunt for Mistresses could spread to Congress, then things would really be perfect.

300 plus millionaires who got to power through their ego driven quest for power and an excess of charisma?

I highly doubt there is any womanizing going on in Congress

FBI's abuse of the surveillance state is the real scandal needing investigation

The Petraeus scandal is receiving intense media scrutiny obviously due to its salacious aspects, leaving one, as always, to fantasize about what a stellar press corps we would have if they devoted a tiny fraction of this energy to dissecting non-sex political scandals (this unintentionally amusing New York Times headline from this morning - "Concern Grows Over Top Military Officers' Ethics" - illustrates that point: with all the crimes committed by the US military over the last decade and long before, it's only adultery that causes "concern" over their "ethics"). Nonetheless, several of the emerging revelations are genuinely valuable, particularly those involving the conduct of the FBI and the reach of the US surveillance state.

As is now widely reported, the FBI investigation began when Jill Kelley - a Tampa socialite friendly with Petraeus (and apparently very friendly with Gen. John Allen, the four-star U.S. commander of the war in Afghanistan) - received a half-dozen or so anonymous emails that she found vaguely threatening. She then informed a friend of hers who was an FBI agent, and a major FBI investigation was then launched that set out to determine the identity of the anonymous emailer.

That is the first disturbing fact: it appears that the FBI not only devoted substantial resources, but also engaged in highly invasive surveillance, for no reason other than to do a personal favor for a friend of one of its agents, to find out who was very mildly harassing her by email. The emails Kelley received were, as the Daily Beast reports, quite banal and clearly not an event that warranted an FBI investigation:

And there's this:

Gen. John Allen also helped Jill Kelley's sister during custody battle

Both Gen. David Petraeus and Gen. John Allen intervened in the same nasty child custody battle involving Natalie Khawam, the twin sister of Jill Kelley, whose bombshell claims of being threatened by Petraeus' lover led to the top spy’s resignation last week, the Post has learned.

Allen, the four-star general top commander in Afghanistan, was revealed last night to have exchanged thousands of pages of of emails with Kelley, who went to the feds after receiving threatening emails from Paula Broadwell, the married mistress of Petraeus.

With a characteristically impassioned rant about David Petraeus's career, Michael Hastings made himself the star of Piers Morgan Tonight on Monday. Which is funny because Piers Morgan is supposed to be the star of the show. It's called Piers Morgan Tonight, after all, not Michael Hastings Tonight.

The segment is worth watching in full. Appearing alongside Gen. Mark Kimmit, a personal friend of Petraeus, and Lt. Col. Rick Francona, a retired Air Force intelligence officer, Hastings lit into Petraeus like a Rolling Stone reporter going after Gen. Stanley McCrystal. Obviously, they're talking about David Petraeus's affair and what it means, but Hastings seemed like he just wanted to talk about Petraeus. This is just the beginning of Hastings' monologue -- and yes it was a monologue contrary to the best efforts of Piers Morgan to shut him up:

Petraeus friend Jill Kelley found place hosting military parties

When Dr. Scott T. Kelley moved from the Northeast to become one of Moffitt Cancer Center's most distinct specialists, his wife, Jill, threw herself into the South Tampa social scene.

She volunteered for committees to organize galas and fashion shows benefiting the American Red Cross and the Tampa Museum of Art. But she didn't seem to find her calling in those circles.

Then she focused her efforts on helping the military.

Just miles from her Bayshore Boulevard home, representatives from scores of nations that make up the military coalition united to fight terrorism after the Sept. 11 attacks were stationed at MacDill Air Force Base.

Before long, the Kelley mansion became the place to be seen for coalition officers. Gen. David Petraeus, leader of U.S. Central Command at MacDill, marked his first celebration of the Gasparilla pirate parade on the Kelleys' lawn.

"Conspiracy number three: Either the President of the United States blackmailed the head of the CIA into backing the White House's lie. Or this theory is stupid."

"My god, this goes all the way to the top. Well, not really the top. . . . "

Agreed. Thanks for the recommendation. (I loved their title for it, too.)

Their "Moment of Zen" is pretty good, too. Grover Norquist's take on why Obama won. :)

It's Massachusetts. I might be going out on a limb, but I think the Dems seat is safe

I don't agree. Scott Brown was actually pretty popular up there, and without the coattails of a presidential election going for his opponent, he would have a very good chance of winning that seat.

Levin: Number of e-mails between Kelley and Allen ‘astounding’

The sheer volume of e-mails between ISAF Commander Gen. John Allen and Jill Kelley, the woman who initiated the FBI investigation that ended the career of CIA Director David Petraeus, is "astounding," the head of the Senate Armed Services Committee said Tuesday.

"The number of e-mails between the two is an astounding number of e-mails," Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI) told some reporters in the basement of the Capitol building Tuesday. "But if you can get over that number, then the question is, hey let the IG [inspector general] do the appropriate investigation... I'm not going to jump to any conclusions."

Levin said he had a long phone call with Defense Secretary Leon Panetta Monday evening, during which Panetta explained the circumstances regarding the administration's decision to place on hold Allen's nomination to become the next Supreme Allied Commander Europe and head of Europe Command. The Defense Department's Inspector General's office is reviewing the e-mails now.

Levin, along with several other senators, have canceled their meetings this week with Allen. The Cable spotted his presumptive successor, Gen. John Dunford, in the Capitol complex Tuesday. Dunford's confirmation hearing to be the next ISAF commander will go on as scheduled Nov. 15 and he is expected to be confirmed.

This part also struck me a little funny.

Defense officials have said there were between 20,000 and 30,000 pages of e-mails between the two. A New York Post report said that Kelley's sister Natalie Kwaham had invoked Allen and Petraeus's names in her custody battle. She also invoked in legal papers the names of Sens. John Kerry (D-MA) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI). Spokesmen for Kerry and Whitehouse both said the senators had met Kwaham through Kwaham's boyfriend Gerald Harrington, a Democratic Party fundraiser.

I know it's from the New York Post, but if it's legit, I wanna know what's going on over here.

What We Don't Know About the Petraeus Scandal: Questions for the FBI
1) Why did Jill Kelley's complaint launch an investigation in the first place?

2) Did the government get a warrant to search Paula Broadwell's email account?

3) Once the FBI established that neither Broadwell nor Petraeus had committed a crime, why did they tell Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and the White House?

Answers from the Bureau of Common Sense.

directors of CIA must be held to a different standard.

Their secrets can cost people their lives.

if the director of the CIA is rumored to be, accused of, or possibly involved in an extramarital affair, that should be all the justification needed to execute a quiet search.

The game he's involved in is toooooo dangerous, and tooooo costly to be cautious.
