From the director of Badlands and A Thin Red Line. Pure cinematic porn. Can’t wait.

Wow small world I was just reading about him (Wiki) yesterday (If this is Franz Jagerstatter who I assume it is).

No doubt, brother. No doubt.  If for some reason you’ve never seen Badlands, I would highly recommend it. My favorite independent film of all time. Masterpiece.

Seen it.  Pops made sure I was hip as a kid.  Been 20 years, tho.  Baby-faced Sissy.

Terrence Malick is my guy.  Thin Red Line and Tree of Life hit me on emotional levels that not many movies have.

Badlands is certainly worth multiple viewings.  First movie I saw where I was like "Oh, they have movies like THAT?!"

I watched Tree of Life...at night...by myself...in the house I grew up in...while drinking liquor.  I was an emotional wreck. 🤣

Edward has come a long way since glittering in sunlight like a disco ball.  I may have to rethink my position on him as Batman, I even gave Affleck a chance.

Dude has some chops.  This also gives me a chance to plug The Rover, which is easily one of the more underrated films of the last decade.  Powerful apocalyptic **** down under.  Pattinson crushes his role.  Such and odd, vibrant character and flick.

Every parent's worst nightmare...

::Pihu trailer::

We watched this about a month ago.  It was pretty solid.  As a new parent to an 11 month old, some of the situations the writers put us in were pretty uncomfortable.  The girl was adorable and a solid little actress.

I have to say, I have no interest whatsoever in this Joker movie.  Looks like a quality production, well acted, etc.  But I dont much care about the Joker before he became Batman's nemesis.  It's the old, answering a question I didn't need answered thing for me.

Toronto International Film Festival 2019 Preview: The Films We're Most Excited About

Good morning from Toronto, where the NPR Movies team has decamped for the next seven days or so, as we attend the Toronto International Film Festival, the largest film festival in North America.

The festival runs from the 5th through the 15th of September; hundreds of feature films, documentaries and shorts from around the world will be screened. For the public, there will be gala events, red carpets and celebrities. For the press, there will be long days spent in the dark, meals consisting entirely of greasy fistfuls of popcorn, and endless scuttling from theater to theater without ever stepping out into air that hasn't been heavily conditioned.

I asked the rest of the team to tell me which films they were most looking forward to seeing at TIFF 2019. Many will be coming to theaters — and/or streaming services — in the coming months.
