Redskins / Falcons Prediction Thread; A Show of Hands

The 'Skins win this one in a shocker. And in even more of a shocker, it's a relatively low scoring affair. The 'Skins dominate the clock with the running game and short passing game, keeping the ball for more than 40 minutes of the game. The Defense gives up 2 big plays, but otherwise plays well. Falcons score 4 times, 2 TDs and 2 FGs. The 'Skins score 4 times, 3 TDs and 1 FG. 'Skins win 24-20. (they also miss 1 FG, and Cundiff leaves FedEx escorted by armed guards.)

The 'Skins have to win at home eventually.

I really really want to be optimistic about this game.

But I'm not. The Falcons have a very strong offense, and a fairly stout defense at that. They're easily the best team we've faced so far. My original prediction was that we'd lose by 7, but we've done worse than I expected since I made those predictions.

41-27 Falcons. I think we do get some things going, but Falcons just are too strong. We manage 5 solid drives, 3 going for TDs, but also commit a couple turnovers, and have our 1st negative turnover differential game.

I have a bad feeling about this one. Matt Ryan and the Falcons WR's are playing some seriously good football right now. And our secondary has not been great and love to give up big plays. If we can get a turnover or two to go our way we will stand a chance. I think it will be closer than what people think but i think our home losing streak continues. We lose this one.

Falcons - 34 Skins - 24

Hmmm....put me down for a 24-16 Skins win.

Looks like rain/showers in the forecast for Sunday. I'm expecting that to impact the dome team while the Skins grind it out on the ground. Hope to see Grant an active participant in the game on Sunday.

it'll be a cold day in hell before our defense holds the falcons to under 20 points

Washington is going nowhere with this defense, and DeAngelo Hall is going to get exposed like the fraud that he is.

No way we hold Atlanta under 30 points, the question will be whether the Redskins offensive line can give Griffin enough time to keep up with the Falcons.

I think we slow the game down with our NFL best running game. That's the key to this game. I predict Morris has another 100 game like around 130 yards 2 TDs. Griffin has another great game 280 yards 1 TDs 70 yards rushing 1 TDs. And we win on a Cundiff FG at the end. 34-31 I'll say.

Skins better have the ball placed inside the Falcons 10 for that FG attempt.Seriously,I look for a tight game,if the Skins can run the ball and keep Ryan off the field they have a very good shot at beating Atlanta.

1) First four games have come down to the last two minutes.

2) Atlanta is playing really good, undefeated, very potent passing attack.

3) Our defensive secondary is like a sieve.

4) Redskins have a seven game losing streak at home.

5) Falcons defense may be the highest rank defense we have faced this year.

Its the NFL and anything can happen on any given sunday.

PLUS..........we have RGIII

So I will pick the Skins 31 to the Falcons 28, in another edge of your seat finish.

Atlanta has the most potent receiving duo in the NFL right now with Jones and White. Week in and week out our secondary is exposed for the "scrub" crew that it really is and I see both of these guys scoring two TD's a piece, maybe even more. I am being very generous. Our guys cannot cover. Atlanta will score one rushing TD so I see their Offense racking up 35 before the 4th quarter. Their defense is the best we have faced this year and I think they will cover our receivers well. I think we will score 27 on them.

38-27 Atlanta.

not sure why you guys are thinking the skins are gonna score more than 20?? ... this is the most complete team we have faced. They are going to go up quick and big and that is going to spell doom for our O which has been use to playing with a lead and/or a close score. The Falcons are are going to render the O one dimensional and that equals blow out.

This thing will be in the 30's to teens and the skins will probably lose.

:(

of course ... a little bit of me died as I wrote this.

I have a strangely confident feeling about this one. We haven't put together a complete game yet, we've had some unfortunate breaks with calls/injuries etc... Falcons coming off a big home win where frankly they got a bit lucky.... their D is suspect and Cam and the zone read torched them. We're due for a home win and they're due for a loss. I think we are going to try to pound the ball against their 29th ranked run D and control the clock/TOP. If we can hold them to 24-27 points, i think we win.

Skins 33-24.

The skins have to go all out ... by that I mean, onsides kick after a score, another double pass, wildcat with Brandon, stop and goes, corner blitzes, running draws on 3rd and long.

On November 24, 1991, the Cowboys traveled to Washington to face the 11-0 Redskins, who had been steamrolling opponents by an average score of 33-13. Dallas, meanwhile was on the third leg of a three-game roadtrip, and had lost the first two contests, 26-23 to the Oilers and 22-9 to the Giants to fall to 6-5. No pressure: on the road, against an undefeated team, with the season in the balance.

Before the game, Jimmy Johnson told his team that they were going to go after the Redskins with everything in their arsenal. "When you go up against a big gorilla," he said, "you don't hit him lightly. You hit him with everything you got!" Indeed, Johnson delivered on his promise: he called a draw play on third and long (resulting in an Emmitt Smith touchdown); he went for it on multiple fourth downs (Dallas converted three of four fourth downs); he tried an onside kick early in the second quarter; and he called a Hail Mary pass on the last play of the first half. His aggressive approach sent Washington reeling, and the ‘Skins looked off-balance all afternoon.

Because of our #1 rated rushing attack and their poor rushing defense, I believe the Skins will win......the time of posession battle. But that's about it. I expect the Falcons will have one, possibly two, long TD passes, and we won't be able to slow them down. I'll say Falcons 31, Skins 23.
