As far as Penn State's kicker goes, the kicker they were supposed to have, who would have contended for Big 10 1st team honors (he was also the punter) transferred to Texas in the wake of the sanctions. Though he had a reason outside of the sanctions to do so; he's from Texas and his mother was recently diagnosed with MS. This kid they have kicking now was a lightly recruited kid who wasn't expected to play this year. I fear he will now have whatever the David Carr syndrome equivalent is for kickers.

Nick Novak or sean suisham syndrome?

Aggies looking like they got a top-10 team this year.

A one score lead over a team ranked 23 (mostly on name recognition) leads you to that statement?

The Aggies marching down the field and scoring on three consecutive drives led me to that conclusion.

That said, though, I tuned back in for the 4th quarter. And, granted, I really wasn't paying much attention, but i think I respect the Gators more, now. The 2nd quarter I watched, they were getting rolled over. The game was really lopsided.

IMO, to come back from getting treated that way, on the road, in that particular stadium? Worthy of some respect, IMO.

Yeah, Gators have had great 2nd halfs to rally.

That will get the coach some cred, too. Those kind of things can really help a team. (Especially a team that disappointed, last year.)

Maybe, maybe, the Skins will manage to get a piece of that, tomorrow. :)

I was kind of surprised at how badly Miami lost.

Looks like FSU will make minced meat of the spread.

Games like FSU-Savannah State need to be outlawed. Sure, SS is getting a lot of money from FSU for playing them, but really? it's 48-0 with 8 minutes to go int he second quarter, and Savannah State has -3 total yards to FSU's 365. I don't know who should be more ashamed: FSU for wanting to play the game, or SS for accepting it.

FSU didnt have much of a choice. West Virginia left them hanging after the schedules were pretty much 99% set. I dont put all the blame on WVU, I feel like FSU could have budged a little bit on the payout in order to get a higher quality opponent but then again I dont have all the details or facts to make an educated call on that. As a fan it pisses me off that they have to play this game. Neither team wants to be here right now. Its raining and the game was stopped for a lightning delay. I went home, I wasnt gonna watch anymore of that massacre. I would have rather played WV and risked losing than deal with this BS.

I can't believe there isn't some soccer player at University Park that can kick better than this guy. At least you know going in that it'll be four down territory nearly every drive and call your plays accordingly.

Am I missing something, or is there no where to discuss the terrible injury in Tulsa yet?

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/8352006/tulane-safety-devon-walker-hospitalized-suffering-fractured-spine-broken-neck-collapsed-lung-hit

Tulane safety Devon Walker fractured his spine in a head-to-head collision with a teammate during a game in Tulsa, the team said Saturday.

Walker also suffered a broken neck and a collapsed lung in the collision.

Walker was revived on the field and a tracheotomy was performed. Walker is in the emergency and trauma center at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa.

Tulane issued a statement Saturday night on Walker's condition: "Devon Walker sustained a cervical spine fracture. He is at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa where he is in stable condition. Currently, he is in traction with a lot of swelling in his neck and he is undergoing treatment for the swelling. The current plan is for him to have surgery in the next one to two days. He is being treated by specialists. The Tulsa physicians did a great job taking care of Devon."

I said something about it a couple pages back. Seemed to go unnoticed though. Absolutely terrible injury.
I don't know. I just, it's got me a little shaken quite frankly. Football is a violent game and all but I think it could really spark discussions about Goodell's policies and all. I'm just surprised no one had started it it's own thread; it's such a horrific injury. The phrase "revived on the field" just gives me the worst feeling in my stomach. God bless that poor young man and his family watching.

Definitely man.

The initial contact really didn't look that violent. I've seen a lot more violent collisions and guys turned out just fine. Then you see the guy's lifeless body on top of the pile and your heart just sinks to the ground. I think some major praise goes to those team trainers/doctors and medical staff that got to him on the field quickly and were able to revive him. I couldn't imagine being in that situation.
