The linked article came from Forbes. They listed the value of all the sports teams in the world and the Redskins came out at number 5. For the record, the NFCE is the most valuable NFL division, with the Boys tied at 3 with the Yankees, Skins 5, Giants 9, and Eagles 14.

From the article:

"Attendance at FedEx Field fell 7.5% last season, but still ranked fourth highest among NFL teams. "

that's pretty impressive, all things considered. 4th highest attendance in the league?

*note: attendance is different than seats sold.

A team that has 2 playoff wins in almost 20 years and only a few winning seasons is the #5 team - in the world.

Speaks volumes about the fans and Snyders marketing genius.

Also I have never even heard of the #2 team in the world.

You've never heard of Real Madrid?

Aren't we falling? We were number 1 or 2 a few years back weren't we? Then I think I recall seeing us at like top 3. Maybe its a different list (most valuable vs revenue generating vs club seats, etc).

yeah we were the most valuable US team until the Cowboys and Yankees built their new stadium.

Real Madrid and Manchester United, they now have a global following so you should not be suprised about these two teams being the most valuable teams in the world.

Redskins own their own stadium. Lots of team don't. Lot's of teams (like Minnesota) try to force the state/city to pay for it from taxes (poor souls).

California (left coast) is in a deficit and they are proposing building a new stadium in LA to entice other franchises to come there. Deficit spending... gotta love it.

Real Madrid is a great soccer team, hence #2 on list. They played an exhibition game with DC United at Fed Ex a few years back and the place was pretty packed

The only reason the Cowboys are worth more is they play in Jerry-World and we have Fed-Ex. If we have a similar stadium to the Cowboys the team would be worth much more.

You don't actually believe that do you?

The Cowboys have a far greater reach in fanbase than the Skins. Now the majority are nothing but bandwagon types but still.

As for them being on the list because of Jerry World, the Redskins only got up on the list because of FedEx Field and whoring Danny does with every inch of that place. In fact the Redskins are slipping. They were once upon a time the second most valuable franchise in the world.

In the end, this means nothing to us regular people. Anyone really think Eagle fans are pissed that they are 14th and we are 5th? Anyone? Their owner maybe, but normal people? Nope.

You do realize the Cowboys and Yankees jumped ahead of us once they built their new stadiums, right?

FedEx Field $250.5 million

Cowboys Stadium $1.3 billion

Yankee Stadium $1.5 billion

These numbers seem a little skewed to me. The Redskins are the most valuable NFL franchise if you compare assets vs liability ratio. Fact of the matter is the Giants and the Pukes each still have debt of over $1 billion on their new stadiums, while the Redskins owe $0 on the stadium. If you simply subtract the loan liability from the "value" of the franchise, those 2 teams plummet in the value rankings, where as we don't move.

These are the kind of articles that Pukes fans bring up to "prove" that their franchise is better.
