I owned a 2002 Celica that I loved and never gave me trouble. Traded that in for a 2010 Escape a few months ago and am really enjoying the Escape - my family has never had trouble with the Ford's we've owned (Explorer, Fusion) so I hope that carries over to the Escape.

I don't remember you telling me that about your dad. Cool.

And don't take this the wrong way, but I can't stand any of the Dodge cars out on the street. They just don't appeal to me at all. Dodge Rams are ok, I guess.

And why do you guys have so many damn cars? lol

The rumble of the Hemi is sweet. I love it. Just sitting at a light or hitting the ramp to get on the highway is music to my ears.

I just give them to my siblings as they get older. Some people love to have the newest phone, I would rather have the newest car.

EDIT: Partially joking. I do give my cars to my sisters and brother, but I love having my old cars too. Sometimes I feel like there is the 69 Camaro out there that has my name on it...I am waiting as my Dad is a pain in the butt to go car shopping with, but I trust his opinion when looking to make the type of investment that I think this stupid car will cost in the end. I say stupid, only because it is not a need.

I always wanted a set of cars similar to that. Something economical, something for the family, and something to quench my need for speed.

It's all you need.I always wanted one car for each purpose. My 3 were, 4 door for family, truck in case I needed it, and something sexy. The Challenger is a new toy, just got it two months ago.

I have an 04 Dodge Ram and before that I had a96 Ram. Aside from routine maintenance, I had very few problems. My 96 I traded in, at 160k miles, for my 04. I had it for 8 years and the only issues I had with it were a sticking brake caliper and a broken temp sensor. My 04 had a computer go bad, which was replaced under warranty, and had a rocker arm fall off. Other than that, both trucks were pretty rock solid and have been more reliable than anything I have owned, from 74 Pontiac Grand Prix, Toyota Celica (1973 pos), 89 Nissan truck, 85 Nissan 310 Hatchback (pedestrians walked faster), 79 Plymouth Arrow (Mitsubishi built), 81 Chevy Camaro (V-6, slow as a turd). All of those vehicles each cost me more in repairs than both my Dodges combined.

Of the four, I've owned Toyota, Chevy and Ford. The Toyota was a '75 Celica GT which was poorly taken care of by its previous owner (didn't change the oil ) so it didn't last for me but I liked it. The Ford was a '68 Ford Torino GT Convertible, fun car but it was old and needed restoring so it was a money pit. The Chevy was the only one I bought new (a '90 Beretta GTZ) and while it was quick and handled well the quality was piss-poor and it was a total piece of :pooh:. I had to put so many repairs into that car and the engine still died after 5 yrs/100K miles. I'll never buy a Chevy again.

I've also owned a Nissan Maxima and a VW Passat wagon. I've never owned a Dodge. No brand loyalty from me, probably because I don't feel any have earned it.

I am seriously considering buying a Toyota Venza for my next car.

My dad's always bought Toyota and put 250k on some of his cars.

I love my Camry.

Yeah, durability is a major factor for me, too. We got about 280k on our 95' Camry back in the day so I'm pretty fond of Toyota's. But the '99 Durango is still kicking with 375k with shockingly little maintenance. I do a good bit of hauling and its spent a lot of time on some rough roads.

I'm going with Dodge.

I had a lot of random cars when I was younger that I didn't take care of so I won't blame them not lasting on the cars. But since I have grown up, I now have a 08 Tacoma. I LOVE it. Haven't had a single problem with it. Just crossed 50K miles. But now that I have made the transition from married to single, I would like something with a little more cab space. I was looking at buying a new truck before I was transfered to Guam. I did a lot of research and a good bit of test drives. I have decided that before I leave Guam, I will sell my Taco here (they sell for high $ here). I will then order a new Ram from the Exchange and have it delivered in the states.

So I voted Toyota because thats what I have and I love it. I want a Ram but I can't positively say that I will love it after driving it for a few years. I'll bump this thread when I find out.

My last car was a Ford Escort which was a wonderful utilitarian car with almost no problems and lasted ten years. My current car is Prius which so far has been great though I wish it had better acceleration. I was close to going with the Focus, but it wasn't rated quite as well and its mpg wasn't quite as good.

I don't have brand loyalty as much as I do have quality loyalty. I'd love to buy "American" but are American cars even American anymore? Are foreign cars not made in America? It gets confusing
