i do believe beal is an upgrade from last year and i also believe Wall will be better. That said if the wiz started last season w/ RW at coach and Nene and no cancers (young, blatche and mcgee) i think that team would have won 30 games in a shortened season. now imagine Okafor and Ariza along w/ beal and improved wall. they should be flirting w/ .500

Don't be down boys. The Wiz will make the playoffs this year.

Yes, I went there.....in September.

I wouldn't be surprised if we were the 8th seed, little surprised if we were any higher. But we should be pretty tough. If nothing else, we'll have a decent front court with depth, and if Beal is as good as advertised, we'll be pretty good.

Nene is an important part of our season no doubt. But ultimately I think this season will come down to how much the young guys develop.

Will Wittman allow the guards to dominate the ball and jack up shots or will he install an actual offense? Did John Wall realize that he's not yet an NBA star player and actually work on his game this off season? Will Wall actually try on defense? Will Beal actually produce numbers that justify his "terrific shooter" rep?

There are a lot of questions about the wizards, Nene's health is just one of them.

Always questions with every young team trying to make the transition from phase one of a total rebuild to phase two.

One thing that hadn't totally set in at the time of Blatche's amnesty was that he was the last player on the roster from before the 2010 draft. In two years and three offseasons we've undergone 100% turnover. That's pretty drastic. But good.

I'm actually looking forward to this season.

Me too. I think Beal fell into the perfect situation and will be immediately successful. I think he'll go down the second best player in the class.

There's just so much new with this team that I'm so curious to see. I liked the Nene move from the start and ditto Okafor and Ariza. I remember whole decades where we didn't have **** for bigs and now we got a plethora of quality size. Plus I'm really looking forward to my dude Vesely shutting up the haters.

I feel you GAC, I am a little excited as well. If we can get anywhere between 55-65 games from Nene' I think we easily walk in the playoffs. Can't wait to see Beal and Wall play together too.

I'm not certain we are in phase two though I'd love that to be the case. The GM, coach, and star player are all very much questionable at this point. This could either be the start of phase two or evidence that another rebuild is needed. I don't think it's a coincidence that so many contracts on this Wizards team expire at the same time, I think Ted built himself an emergency exit. This thing has two seasons to work.

I wouldn't read too much into the contracts because the vast majority of them are rookie deals and they are done according to guideline.

We're committed to Wall/Vesely/Beal/Nene for the next several years.

Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld announced today that guard John Wall will miss approximately eight weeks after being diagnosed with the early stages of a stress injury to his left patella. No surgery will be necessary, and his rehab will begin immediately.

“My teammates and I are all excited to build on the improvement we made at the end of last season, and I know they will continue to make great progress while I get through this setback,” said Wall. “I will work extremely hard to make sure I get back as soon as possible so I can re-join them and help our team continue to improve."

Wall was examined yesterday in New York by orthopedic specialist Dr. David Altchek after experiencing discomfort in his left knee and underwent an MRI that revealed the early stages of a non-traumatic stress injury.

"We're all disappointed for John after how hard he worked this summer and how excited he was to begin training camp, but we feel fortunate that we caught the injury early and that he will be able to return with the vast majority of the season still in front of us," said Grunfeld. "In the meantime, we're confident that the versatility and depth of our team will help us move forward and continue the positive momentum that we've seen over the past several months."

The Wizards begin training camp on Oct. 2 at George Mason University and open the season on Oct. 30 at Cleveland.
