Is he our best player even if a healthy Wall comes back next year?

Unless Wall has found time to fix his jumper while out, we've seen the best of his game. Wall can return healthy, but his game will be diminished

this is Beal's ship. If Grunfeld lasts, he will find a way to scapegoat him as well.

Only way EG makes a good move is if he somehow traded Wall's contract and then resigned 2 days later.

From What I see I am okay with letting Portis Walk and approaching Parker about a non-max contract. I really like Parker, he is extremely efficient, and I would like to see him starting.

We should let Green and Ariza walk as well, tell Bryant to hit the gym, pray someone would take mahini's contract and hope for a top 10 pick.

I have no idea who Beal possibly was recruiting at the all star game, but this should be an interesting offseason at least

Brad is not and never will be the star that Wall is. That’s ok. But people need to stop deluding themselves that he can be the man to lead the team anywhere. He’s the C.J. McCollum to Damian Lilliard. This has been his team 2 years in a row and we are struggling to hit .500. It is what it is.

Wall’s game has always been court vision and pick and Roll mastery. Get us a big that’s not on an injury discount that can run the pick and roll. Conley is showing right now that if you have those things, a top flight pg can still run the show after a serious injury.

No, wall is inefficient. Beal is a better, shooter in every facet, way more efficient, better rebounder and doesn't turn the ball over nearly as much.

He is also younger and not in the middle of a major injury recovery.

Not sure how are you going to blame Beal being really the only star out there, in a better east, on a team that plays no defense.

What is the earliest we see Wall come back? This time next year at the earliest is my guess, I am not saying he will suck, and sure he will make the team better, but his contract will be terrible.

But if next season Beal and company maintain 5/6 seed in the east that would bring some promise if all came back in march to tune up for the playoffs

If you can’t see that Brad is better as the #2 at this point, I can’t help you. We should have kept Otto OR Oubre, traded brad to lottery team like Orlando for a top pick, and tanked the season.

You cant have your 2 guard be the #1 on the team unless he is clutch, Elite at both ends, or makes everyone else around him leagues better (Kobe / Leonard).

Johns contract is what it is, and he earned it. We can’t trade him, and even if we could, we won’t get any return other than 3 more Ian Mahinmi’s.

Beal has entered his prime and he's become one of the best SGs in the NBA, and if they distinguished between PGs and SGs on the All NBA and All Star teams, he would be second or third team All NBA and an AS starter.  But the fact that he is playing at such a great individual level and the team is still losing is a demonstration that the SG position just doesn't have the impact that it used to.  You can see the lack of holistic impact in Beal's numbers too.  To be scoring so well and still have only a 20 PER and only 6 win shares and a 2.8 VORP means the impact of that scoring just isn't making a big dent on wins and losses.

James Harden is the only SG that seems capable of powering an elite team, and I think his role and impact are fundamentally different from all of the other SGs in the NBA.  He is a lead guard in all but name and he's also the league's best scorer and he generates an extreme amount of assists in their offense--his assist rate has been between 40 and 50% the past three seasons.  That is John Wall territory, and Wall is a pass first PG.

Thus it's accurate to say that no player has more control over an NBA offense the last three years than James Harden, and despite this he's maintained ORtgs between 118-120.  That is an unbelievably good number for a shot creating guard/wing.

Point being, James Harden is a singular player at the position and there is no one else like him in the NBA, and no other SG is good enough to win with as the guy for a team because they can't come close to replicating Harden's extremely positive offensive impact.

SG has become the least impactful of the five spots because it has minimal impact on defense and rebounding and it doesn't playmake for others on offense at an equivalent rate to the PG position.  Much lesser players at the PF and C position have more of an impact on wins and losses than Beal does.  Rudy Gobert is nowhere near as good an all around player as Beal and yet he's far more impactful.  You just can't get Forward/Center level impact from SGs.  Given the fact that Wall's days of playing at an AS level are likely over, it's going to be really hard to build a winner around Beal.  The team is going to have to luck into an elite forward/center to do it.

Regardless, the team will never amount to **** with Ernie in charge.

A single star surrounded by bad teams miss the playoffs all the time, just ask Lebron James about that.  Also, when has Wall dominated without help?  In the two seasons Beal played in less than 60 games, the Wizards and John Wall missed the playoffs.

Beal played in 56 games in the 12-13 season (his rookie year). The Wizards finished 29-53 record.

Beal played in 55 games in the 15-16 season.  Wizards finished 41-41.

Those are the only two seasons Beal has missed the playoffs before this year.  Wall has been the better player in the regular season and probably half of the playoff series the two have been in together.  But Beal has improved by a wide margin, this season, over the player he was.  Its not about the numbers, his previous weakness creating his own shot and settling for bad shots, have largely vanished.  It’s a shame the current Beal and the former Wall won’t share the floor, because that could have been something.

What the wizards have always needed is another scoring star so that Wall could be the third option in the half court and score opportunistically.  Wall is a tremendous passer that puts pressure on defenses to create mismatches or open looks, but he’s never been a great hero scoring option against a set half court defense.  If Earnie had ever produced that instead of wasting a billion draft picks and a fortune in cap space on bums, the wizards would have been contenders.

Lebron took the cavs to the championship last year. That team was full of and coached by bums. He is having his first year out of the playoffs this year because he grabbed the forbidden fruit, ignored roster construction, and tried to insert himself in a new city swinging D around like he’s 26.

A single star can take a team to the playoffs in the east or west as long as he is a big man or a phenom at point. ( Anthony Davis and James Harden).

Ill rep DC basketball for as long as John is still on the roster, and that will be just about it. I have no interest in watching what they are doing right now. It’s a waste of time

Parker isn't any good, nor is he efficient.  He's a replacement level gunner forward who is the same as Mike Scott and an old Jeff Green.  He makes virtually no positive impact on the record.  Same for Portis, who is also replacement level.

This team will never be any good whatsoever with the way it acquires and uses PFs and Cs.  They have all sucked.  Even the ones who were at least mediocre before they got here, like Dwight was in Atlanta and Charlotte.  Bigs come to DC to suck.  And the issue is as much about culture and coaching as it is about lack of talent.

You are flat out ignoring math if you are going to say Parker is inefficient offensively. He has a career shooting% of 49% and 3P% over 34 %. His career TS% is 54.8% and in his short time on the Wizards his TS% has been over 60%

For us, his Per 36 averages are 18 Points / 9.6 Rebs / 4.5 Assist, 1.4 Steals, and a block on 54.6% FG%, and he will only be 24 in 5 days, definitely has not reached his ceiling yet

None of those numbers are good for a combo forward and his ORtg of 105 is average for a shot creator, below average for a shot maker.

Still pissed off about Buck getting fired.  Pissed to see that Ernie hasn't been fired yet.  Pissed to see Oubre and Otto get shipped out for virtually no return and get better for their new teams.  Pissed that Ernie's season-saving trade to get Ariza failed and that he's still going to keep his job anyway.  Pissed that the team hasn't shut Beal down in order to properly tank.

This franchise is a trainwreck and this season was an unmitigated disaster.

He's a combo forward, same as Jeff Green and Mike Scott.  He plays the vast majority of his minutes at PF, including this season, where 88% of them have been at the 4.  Good numbers for a rotation player at his position and role would be at least a 110+ ORtg, which would put him in or near the top 50 for forwards.  105 is an absolute minimum level for being rotation caliber.  101 is crap, and demonstrates his inefficiency.  He's a chucker and a turnover machine when all you want from bench forwards is someone who will catch the ball and hit jumpers and finish cuts and pick and rolls and keep the ball flowing when he doesn't have a shot.
