My assumption is that Ted and Ernie know that Flip isn't the right coach for this team. However, this team even with a good coach, isn't ready to win. NBA coaches are only as good as their team. So right now, they can fire Flip, still pay his salary and pay the new guy on top of it. My opinion is that they are waiting for the moment, when they know this team is ready to compete. Then you get rid of Flip, and you give the new coach a credible NBA roster to work with.

I agree with this. I also think the players know this as well which is why Flip has a hard time getting through to the team. On offense we look like a collection of 5 random guys thrown together in a pick up game.

Either the players can't grasp what Flip wants them to do on offense, or they've completely tuned him out. Neither option speaks highly for anyone involved.

He is a good player. But he's not worth 8+ mil a year. In my opinion anyway.

I think he is worth about 6 million a year, so 8 million a year in the NBA isn't really too bad of an overpay...but like you pointed out, Denver would have matched that, so it doesn't matter. I'd like to see us do something to improve the team this year. hopefully we can snag someone in a 3/4 way trade this year .....decent player that a contender needs to drop for salary reasons for a protected 2nd round pick.

My young Sixers took care of business again. That's the team Dwight Howard should want to join.

76ers look good but if he becomes a free agent (unlikely) OKC is the ultimate situation for him. Salary info on the net always seems to be flawed but they seem to have a ton of team options which they can decline giving them a 30mil cap figure. Plenty of room for Howard and restricted FA Westbrook. Westbrook, Durant, and Howard would annihilate the league and ruin Stern's vision.

There is no way they'd be happy a small market team dominated when the top three markets (New York, LA, and Chicago) have 5 relevant teams. Not to mention the miami hype machine.

Said it after game 1.

Are the Wizards’ new uniforms hard to read?

By Dan Steinberg

Two different Wizards fans got in touch with me on Tuesday night, complaining that the numbers on the backs of the team’s new road uniforms were extremely hard to decipher on television, infinitely harder than the Sixers’ home whites.

Now, two is a pretty modest number of fans, but if there were two, I’m guessing there were more. And when fans other than the diehards start watching regular-season games next week, I’m guessing there will be even more.

I took these screen grabs below from Comcast SportsNet’s online highlights package. I think the fans might have a point. If nothing else, the AP image presented here pretty clearly shows that the Wizards suffered from a severe numerical size deficiency in Tuesday’s matchup.

Anyone else going tomorrow (GACOLB, got your ticket yet?)?

I was supposed to go. With someone on here. Talked about a week and a half ago:

Me: "You want me to try to find the tickets?"

Him: "Illfind some tixs then"

Fast forward to yesterday--two days before the game:

Him: "I dont think im going to the gm"

Me: "Mother****er..."

Not to mention I 1) took off work for it and 2) didn't buy some fam xmas presents because I wasn't sure how much the tix he was going to get were going to cost. I'm not going to put his name out there though.

If you--or someone else--has an extra ticket, I'm down. Just let me know.

I just traded Nidayae, NY, Rashard, and swapped first round picks with Indy for Danny Granger on 2K12. Can this please happen in real life?

I don't understand the trade value system in that game at all. Utah puts five stars on Derrick Favors and won't include him in any deal that doesn't include Wall and I can get Granger for that pupu platter?

I also just got 23 assists in a game with Wall against the Magic. Formula: dribble penetration with Wall, kick it out to Granger for catch and shoot 3. It works like 75% of the time.

I averaged 14.5 assists per game with Wall in NBA2K11. I think my best game was like 28 or 29. Just short of Scott Skiles' record (30)

Jesus. With that awful team? Who were your shooters?

Granger and Blatche are my only players who can hit an open long range jumper on a reliable basis aside from Wall himself.

Also, Turiaf is pretty money to have in the game now. He's decent on the mid range stuff and he plays good defense. We got our money's worth out of him even if he never sets foot on the court just by having him available on the 2k12 roster.

Another thing illustrated by that game is we have a lot of role player types that are specialists at one or two things: Singleton, Booker, and Seraphin on one hand. Turiaff in a similar mold (although a bit older). Vesely and McGee in another role. Blatche, Crawford, Rashard, and NY as high usage low % scorers. All of it built around one true blue star in Wall.

I'm having trouble finding minutes for some because the team is filled with role players. We need to start trying to combine some of these individual pieces together to acquire a good starter who can hold his own on both offense and defense.

Next paycheck I HAVE to buy NBA2K12. You just sold me.

Trading Blatche was the first thing I did last year. Without starting up the game and checking (haven't played in a month or two), I think I kept McGee, acquired DeRozan and Kevin Love. I believe I was hitting Love at the top of the key for easy 15 foot jumpers. He didn't really fit my team though--to slow to run with me--so I might have traded him. I don't know, I have to check. I do know my SF was a scrub. Some vet I picked up off of waivers and some rook from the D League. But I had picked up like 3 1st round picks and SF was the key position I was targeting. Couple of VERY nice prospects.

I don't know about you, but I try to make the games as realistic as possible. 12 minute quarters tend to put the games in the 120-115 point range on average, so I go 10 min quarters instead. And I play on a higher difficulty setting. My team was battling to be .500, which is exactly where I thought it should be.

OKC wouldn't have the cap space to sign both Howard and Westbrook under their current cap situation. their cap number next year w/o Westbrook will be 46 million. The total cap will be no more than 60 million. That's only 15 million, which isn't going to be enough for both players. The Thunder have already come out and said they view Westbrook as a Max player, so he will get a max deal from them.

One thing they could do to get both players is to trade perkins and Harden to make cap room for Dwight....but I doubt that happens. If Howard isn't traded and hits the free agent market, he will go to the nets via Sign and Trade...I guarantee it.

The NBA 2k games are a joke when it comes to trades. I have 2k10.....when the Wizards still had the big 3. I ended up with this team in year 2013 with all legit trades:

Wall, Knight, Henry, Richardson, Salmons, Durrant, Marion, Blatche, Noah, Griffin.

had Dwight Howard, but didn't know how to use him well, so I traded him straight up for Durrant and then turned around and traded Rudy Gay for Noah and Marion.

Got to love video game basketball

http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/wizards/former-wizards-owner-irene-pollin-wouldnt-have-a-problem-with-name-changing-back-to-bullets/2011/12/24/gIQAwJ1FGP_story.html

The one thing Leonsis has thus far refrained from doing is changing the name back to the Bullets, however, despite pleas from many fans to do just that. Those calls may get a bit louder after Abe Pollin’s widow and former Wizards’ co-owner said recently she wouldn’t object to such a change.

“I respect my husband’s wishes. I love him very much. I miss him terribly. If the fans want to change it back — hey, why not?” Irene Pollin said. “To me, it’s what do the fans want? What’s going to please them? To me, they’re the ones who support, care.”

God bless Irene. She doesn't get enough credit. And that's awesome for her to say. As I told my friend the other day, it's great to go back to the old school uni's but it's just ****ing stupid to see them and then hear the announcers call us the Wizards.

Is 2K10 is the last one you got Ryan? Because I think it got better from 2K10 to 2K11. A couple of times I got stuck with players because I thought I'd be able to flip them for another piece and got offered ****.
