BurgundyBooger
Have we resolved the kicking situation in Washington, or will there be open competition this offseason? What about the kick/punt returner now with Betts and ARE gone?
AngloSackSon
I could see Thomas back on kicks, and the third RB back on punts. There is no chance the kicking situation is resolved. I liked what we saw from Gano, but he is far from proven, and you'd have to think Shanahan would want to iron the position out before week one. Dan T.
Can Anthony Alridge return punts? Besides the whole holding-on-to-the-ball thing, of course. Shanahan was intrigued by the guy's quickness and speed, so I imagine he'll find a role for him somehow. PR might be that role.
styx491
I would love to see Moss back there (and in the slot as well). If that doesn't happen, then maybe Thomas/Alridge for kickoffs and then Thomas for PR. I think Gano could solidify the kicking situation.
Mr. Sinister
Who's going to kick? Have'nt you heard? We've got Onions;) As for our return man, anyone who can advance the ball at least 10 yards and not fumble will do
jobaga
I think Hunter the punter will be back, Gano will be our kicker. Returns depends on the improvement of Devin Thomas as a reciever. If DT improves at WR, I think Moss slides to the slot and takes over return duties
doctorshockalu
I hope we resign ARE for the league minimum so that he can dance around during returns and after 10 seconds of that fall forward for one yard. It's really worked in the past!
RabidFan
Moss or D Hall for PR...hell Moss moreso as we have more depth at WR and can't lose Hall....or just Trade JC to Cleveland for Cribbs and a lineman or 3rd round pick.

Cleveland wasn't going to give Cribbs or a 3rd round pick up for JC before they signed Delhomme, and they definitely aren't going to do it after signing Delhomme. As for the kicking situation, Gano kicked great last season on both FGs and kickoffs. Smith is a seasoned vet who brought stability back to the punting situation, he'll be back for sure. It would be great if Alridge could make the team and be both the kick and punt returner, so Thomas can focus solely on his receiver duties. If Alridge fails to make the team then I'd have to go with Thomas as the kick returner and Moss as the punt returner as the roster stands; however, I'm hoping if Alridge doesn't work out Shanahan brings in a guy or 2 to be the return guys. FunBunch7
I want Gano for his deep kickoffs alone...if he can be accurate from 45 yards then great...but his kickoffs in the end zone and in the corners inside the 5 were a NICE change!!!

This team can't afford an extra roster spot for a kickoff specialist. If Gano makes the final roster, it will be because he's earned all place kicking duties. NewCliche21
I don't understand how Gano didn't do anything but play perfectly last year? :whoknows: Hunter the Punter = lock. Anyone returning punts whose initials do not make a verb = fine with me. Not sure about kick returns.

SaintAubins
1. Moss is still the #1 receiver, he won;t be returning kicks. 2. Thomas will more than likely be returning the kicks, Alridge returning the punts. 3. For the love of God don't assume Alridge is garbage because he's fumbled a few times...look at most all running backs their 1st and 2nd season in the NFL...their problems were corrected....they go on to be great runners. Stop being super fans and assuming because someone makes a few mistakes, its panic time
2TheReaper1
why dont we draft jahvid best in the 2nd round and use him as a kr and situational rb using him on screens?
Conn
why dont we draft jahvid best in the 2nd round and use him as a kr and situational rb using him on screens? If we take Okung @4 or trade back, I'd love to see us take Best (if he's still there of course) if Shanahan doesn't absolutely love McCoy or someone there at #37. If we take a QB @4, then I don't think there's any way we take anything but the best lineman. What I'd love to see is a trade-back from #37 (again, only if Shanahan isn't totally in love with a prospect who's fallen there) to gain more picks in this deep draft. Diesel Hog
Draft CJ Spiller. He'll have an immediate impact on KR and PR, plus can make an excellent 3rd down back / slot receiver. Trade down, pick him up, and use extra pick on OL or LB. CJ is such an impact player, one of the few that can score every single time he touches the ball. He's just too good a talent to pass up on. SIXX99
I think Devin should take back kicks for sure. Anthony Alridge might get some action at punt returning if he can keep a handle on the ball. I really hope Hunter is back, he was pretty solid for us.
