VA native! Can't hate Amir. The guy has a good attitude and was the underdog from the start, with ZERO pro fights. Guy has a massive heart.

No one ever really gave him much of a chance - plus, he's just got that "aww shucks" attitude that sets him apart and is refreshing in the UFC. The guy has a hell of jaw on him - I haven't seen someone take as much damage as he does and keep on ticking. His fight against Gerald Harris was just brutal.

Was anyone else wondering why the hell CB Dolloway likes to lay in people's guards? If you want to ground and pound, fine, control the biceps, throw some shots, but then POSTURE UP!

Every submission from guard I can think of begins with you breaking your opponent's posture. CB does that for you.

Pretty good night for MMA if you ask me. I'm so sick of Joe Rogan though. Everytime there's a fighter he's got a man crush on he all but blows the guy the entire fight. Seriously, why didn't he just get on his knees and service Diego Sanchez? The Italian dude not only showed some serious heart and chin but he caught Diego several times. IMO the fight could have went either way and by no stretch of the imagination was Diego in complete control of that fight. I'm just so sick of Rogan, he does this **** every fight. He picks his favorites and even when they're getting their asses kicked he finds a way to stroke them.

Yeah, my fiance has wrestled against CB's team a ton and he couldn't figure out the fight either. He couldn't figure out why CB was fighting the way he was...at all. I mean, the first fight he gassed out. We figured he'd clean up his training before the next fight. But then he gets caught in an armbar again? WTF? Matt was just sitting there like WTF??? And I was laughing.

Rogan's a drunk jackass most of the time...seriously, he's drunk at most of these fights.

Did anyone else see the Diego profile at the beginning of the night? He looked like a gay matador...not that that's bad or anything...but it was hilarious!!!!

i was rooting for Sadollah, but him winning shows just how weak this crop of fighters was for the show. he has a ton of heart and some skill, but i don't see him becoming a top 10 MW in the UFC let alone the world.

You'll never see him fight at that weight again. He's LW bound, guaranteed. They all fight on TUF above their weight class.

Watching the fights now on the sunday 4pm replay. Riddle looked good. I got home very late last night and saw the Kendall Grove fight. Gonna check 'em all out now and weigh in later with my all-important analysis. ;)

Edit: I fell asleep sometime after the Spencer Fischer fight and woke in time to cut thru the fog for McFedries' demolition of Beast East.

That was awesome. When I looked at them both before the fight I would have told you it was gonna go exactly the opposite of the way it turned out. That Beast East guy was scary lookin.

Drew's deadly when he starts fast, isn't he? Marvin "the Beastman" Eastman is shaping up to be a "bottom of the top tier" type- the gate keeper. You beat him, you're in the talks. If you don't, you're a journeyman.

No one talking about Silva moving up to 205? We've discussed it on here so I guess we'll just have to see what he's got. If he moves up to 205 and gets beat is he still P4P the best in the world? I don't know about ya'll but dem boys up der at 205 got a little better chins than those guys down at 185. Not saying Silva won't still be good but I don't see him going through 205 the way he has 185. Dunno, should be interesting.

As far as the coaches for TUF8, I don't care who Nog has with him Mir is a teacher and his team will be extremely well coached. Just because you can fight doesn't mean you can teach. :2cents:

Anderson moving up to 205 to fight James Irvin is a risky move on the part of the UFC and they're only doing it to steal some viewers from the Affliction card.

Anderson should definitely win the fight but at the same time Irvin has the KO power to end a fight if he catches someone with one good punch. I don't mind seeing Anderson move to 205 but again this is just a move to steal viewers from the Affliction card which isn't going to work. I'm ordering the Affliction PPV and DVRing the UFC event...it's going to be free on Spike right?

Either way the Affliction card is just too good to pass up.

So you don't think Nog having Anderson Silva and Machida coaching with him gives his team an advantage over Mir's team?

Mir's a good fighter and a teacher and he's even a good commentator but having three of the best fighters in the world coaching you is hard to top.

205 is one hell of a challenge for the spider. He dominated 185 but here is what is waiting for him in 205:

Thiago Silva

Wanderlei Silva

Lyoto Machida

Keith Jardine

Rashad Evans

Forrest Griffin

*Quinton Jackson

That's not an easy list to battle through.

he trains with Machida, i highly doubt they would fight each other, which sucks because i would really like to see that fight

Irvin is a good test for Silva to see if he can handle power punches at 205. Outside of his power, Irvin doesn't offer much in the cage. Silva has the better technique and should be quicker. it really comes down to how Silva handles the extra weight.

Honestly, none of the 205'ers are as skilled as Anderson IMO. The main concern is whether or not he can naturally carry the weight, and still be as explosive as he is now which is one of his biggest strengths. He's so fluid that it is damn near impossible to land a good shot on him. I also think it's pretty obvious that he has a good chin as he never has been KO'd/TKO'd in his career. That being said, he's 33 years old. Cutting/Gaining weight is probably not as easy as it used to be for him. If his stamina isn't affected by the new weight, I think there's a solid chance he'll make a run for the LHW title.

i agree, his biggest obstacle in 205 will be how he carries the extra weight. there aren't many takedown specialist at 205 outside of Rampage & maybe Rashad. also 205 doesn't have many dominant bjj practioners. If Anderson can handle the extra weight and the guys leaning on him and maintain his stamina, he'll definitely be a threat for the title

No I don't think it gives them an automatic advantage. Good fighter doesn't automatically translate to good teacher, look at Rampage's guys on TUF7. Of course this may not apply to these three fighters, they very well could be great but you don't know until they start coaching. Mir is the most MMA saavy guy I've ever heard when talking about the sport. I think Frank will be an excellent coach. As for Nog, he's not champion becuase he's so dominant, he's champion because he can get hit in the head for 4.5 rounds. Hell, I guess you can say that about Mir too, huh?

Add Chuck and a few others to that list as well but either way it isn't going to be easy for him. Thing to keep in mind though is Hendo was on this list not too long ago and he dropped down and didn't fair too well with Silva. Thing is it's all relevant.

Hendo drops to 185 after figting at 205 for quite some time. When you drop it takes you and your body a while to get used to fighting at that weight. Hendo would have faired a lot better if he would have stuck to his game plan and kept Silva against the cage, remained patient and waited for his opportunity to take him down. Instead Hendo tried to bang with him, you can't bang with him and last long.

Now, Silva is moving up 20lbs which means he's carrying the extra weight that he neeeds to get used to fighting with. Silva is a big 185lb guy, he's not a big 205lb guy. Your average 205lb guy is going to be used to the weight and not as easily pushed around. Just because a guy is dominant in one weight class doesn't mean he's going to cruise through another. He's going to have to bring his A game or it's possilbe he'll get beat in his 205 debut. I too am suprised they're just throwing him in the ring with someone that could very easily KTFO, guy has balls that's for sure.

Like I said before, if he gets beat is he still the P4P best in the world? Does the guy who beat him get that honor? I don't think so, that's why I hate it when people use that term, P4P best. IMO that person doesn't exist.

You mean you don't think Bill Goldberg is the most saavy guy to talk about MMA?

Seriously though I agree, Mir is one of the better commentators out there and does a good job explaining everything to the average MMA viewer who may not know a lot about jiu jitsu and even muay thai. On the other hand though, I just don't think you can discount the experience and talent of the coaches in Nog's camp. Although, Nog does have one of the best chins in MMA (he even got hit by a truck when he was a kid!) he's still one of the most talented jiu jitsu guys in all of MMA and I think that means a lot. Same goes for Anderson's muay thai (and his jiu jitsu too).

I don't know we'll see, but if I were going on the show I'd rather be in Nog's camp.:2cents:

I remember our NO Xplode conversation so to get off topic (I'm too lazy to search for your purple wrath thread:) )

I started taking Ripped Fuel 5x to cut a little bit now that it's beach season and that **** works good man. It's not some wonder drug for cutting but it works real good with solid gym work and a good diet.

The two main things that it does good is:

a) controls your appetite

B) gives you an energy boost at the gym

It's not as intense of an energy boost as NO Xplode but it also doesn't interfere with getting to sleep like NO Xplode did and it's helped me control my diet more than anything. I don't get super hungry so I can make better food choices and maintain my energy level....also it took a few days to fully kick in so if you're still into supplements give it a try, you can get a 40ct bottle at wal mart/target for about $20

I'll give you that, they're three outstanding fighters so you can't help but learn something from them. I'd be honored just to be in the same room with them let alone learn the game from them. Big Nog and Mir is going to be one hell of a fight.

I'm looking for a good weight loss supp so I'll check the Ripped Fuel 5X out. I used to live off rip fuel before they took the Ephedrine out. Funny thing is I'm in the middle of moving and came across three bottles of ephedrine the other day. I'm so tempted to use the stuff but I have a feeling they test for the stuff in the military. Maybe not epedrine specifically but meth which has ephedrine in it. Don't want to risk that crap so I guess I'll have to stick to the non-ephedrine having stuff. Damn that stuff was good though. Thanks for the info, I'll definitely check it out.

Oh, how many are you taking and are you building up a tolerance? I know with the old stuff you'd build up a tolerance pretty quick and would have to keep upping the dosage.

You are wrong here. It will work. It won;t stop hardcore fans from getting Affliction, but it will take a lot of numbers away from them.

Remember how big Pride was with hardcore fans and they bombed on PPV.

I'm going to stream Affliction and DVR UFC.

I'm thinking that if I don't buy the next two Affliction ppvs at $40 a pop I'd have enough to buy one of their $80 premium t-shirts ( I have to laugh every time I think of a "premium" t-shirt). I'd still have to scape up some change for shipping though.
