  1. My support of Belcher has nothing to do with twitter or anything else, my wife actually a friend of his wife so I started following him a long time ago. He's been as solid as anyone in the 185lb division and his only significant loss to Okami was questionable at best. He rolled with Palhares and ended up TKO'ing him. None of this has anything to do with twitter and OBTW, Bisping got one of the worst knockouts in UFC history! Belcher has been paying his dues for a while now, why let Boetsch, Bisping, Wiedman or Lombard jump to the front of the line?
  2. #belcher4champ is trending big time! I honestly don't see how anyone would pay to see Bisping get his ass kicked. I know he's put together some wins but he got ktfo! #belcher4champ
  3. No love for Belcher getting a shot at Silva? IMO the only person who should get a shot before Belcher is Henderson and only because, well, it's Dan Henderson. The only loss Belcher has had in the last couple years was Okami and IMO that was a bull**** decision. Give the talent his shot!!! As for the main event last night, what was up with Anderson holding onto the shorts? Everyone keeps talking about him stuffing the takedowns and having great defense, well yea, every time Chael tried to lift him Anderson was giving him a wedgie. How can the ref not see that? Only the best of the best should get title fights.
  4. Wow, what a card last night! I barely have a voice left after screaming "FINISH HIM ALAN, FINISH HIM"!!!!! Belcher going to the ground and rolling with Palhares reminds me of GSP out wrestling Hughes. Anytime a fighter goes into the other guys strength and beats him, it says a lot about that fighter. Yes I'm a Belcher homer, my wife and his wife went to school together, but every fight he goes in to it seems like he's the under dog and he keeps finding a way to win. Hell of a fight Alan. Nate will wilt against the stronger 155's in the division. I honestly though Miller would do better against Nate but I think he gave up on the clinch game too quickly and never really worked hard enough for the take down.
  5. Even though I'm a pro weed kind of guy, if your employment depends on you not using it, then you shouldn't use it. Seriously Nick? You couldn't lay off the herb for 30 days prior to the fight? However, doesn't he have a legit perscription for it?
  6. Seems like everyone giving Diaz three rounds is totally ignoring the brutal leg kicks Condit was landing. We've all seen it time and time again, just how damaging leg kicks can be, Faber/Aldo, Machida/Rampage, the list goes on and on. Nick is a tough ****, no doubt, but as a judge you can't not count the leg kicks, especially when they're landing as hard as Condits. For every punch Nick was able to land, Condit landed two kicks, not to mention the strikes/counter strikes he landed as well. Everyone who thinks he should have just went in there and let Nick use his head for a speed bag just wanted to see Nick win. That was an excellent fight overall and an oustanding gameplan executed perfectly for Condit. I think Nick's ability to take the shots he took is more of a testament to his toughness than it is a knock on Condits power, we all know it's all but impossible to hurt that hard ass head of his.
  7. Punches that don't do anything? Did you see Nicks face? Did you see how red his thigh was? LOL Again, must have watched a completely different fight, Nick didn't hurt Condit and and was out worked. And if you think those leg kicks shouldn't count, I might be crazy for thinking this because I don't know you, but I would bet you'd curl into the fetal position after just one of them. Lol...this definitely wasn't one of those fights where a fighter did more damage but lost the fight, Carlos simply outworked Nick and refused to fight his game. That equals smart, nothing more, nothing less. He never wobbled Condit the entire fight and besides the one cut under his eye, he looked a hell of a lot better than Nick did when the fight was over. Nick was acting like a *****, I'm sorry. He can't be pissed at the outcome of that fight. If he wants a backyard brawl then he needs to be pissed at Fritatta for the matchup, not at the system. He simply got outworked and out fought, grow up and take your lumps homie!
  8. Wow, sure is a lot of Condit hate on here. Come on 99 and Double, you guys are typically solid at calling a fight straight. I had it exactly like the judges, 49/46 Condit and I actually had Nick winning this fight. It's MMA fella's, you can't discount the leg kicks, kicks to the body and aggressivness. Nick stood around waiting to counter, he didn't use his jab as effectively as he usually does and Carlos did an excellent job throwing counters when Nick did connect. Not to mention the fact, when Nick seemed to get him where he wanted, Carlos simply circled out and regrouped, excellent gameplan, perfect execusion. What we have here is pretty simple, a smarter, more well rounded MMA fighter beat a brawler, plain and simple! Nick got out smarted. That being said, I hate it when idiots like Ronda Rousey make comments like that. She's on Nick's tip because he showed her some respect by training with her, but she's an MMA fighter, it should be obvious to her that Condit out fought Nick. Why in GODS name would anybody go in there an fight Nick's fight? There aren't too many guys in the UFC who are going to out brawl Nick, so why go in there and give him that? Why step into his world and let him tee off on you? You shouldn't, Carlos didn't and came out on top, kudos to Carlos. Go back and rewatch the fight Nick, I think you'll see just how successful Carlos was and how ineffective you were. I gave you one round brother, sorry for your luck. ---------- Post added February-5th-2012 at 10:10 AM ---------- I swear I didn't watch the same fight as y'all. lol...I kept hollering at Joe "Jesus, get off Nick's nuts!". Even when Carlos was obviously winning Joe was talking about how close the fight was and how it could go either way. NOT EVEN CLOSE! Lol
  9. Good place in DC to catch the fights tonight? In DC for the game and don't want to miss this card.
  10. Looked like an early stoppage to me too, sure he went limp for a second, but he recovered pretty damn quick. However, when he went to stand up, his legs were jello. That being said, Herb should have let the fight go after he stopped it and warned Dan about hitting in the back of the head.
  11. Anyone know where to stream tonights fight?
  12. Imagine if that was someone from the Diaz camp tapping and the ref not stopping it, there would have been a beatdown of epic proportions in the middle of the octagon. The ref would have been squashed!
  13. As for the half point scoring, I like it, a lot! The Wimer/Siver fight is a perfect example of how the current system doesn't work all the time. I also think the UFC should go to 5, 3 minute rounds for non title fights and 8 rounds for title fights. I also believe the main event for PPV's should always be played just like a title fight. I don't like paying $55 for a PPV and only get three rounds of action, either that or make every PPV or "UFC ###" a championship event.
  14. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=6753321 Just pulled this from ESPN, this is the fastest spinning backfist I've ever seen. WOW!
  15. I agree with this and I think that in the days of old it mattered a hell of a lot more. I mean, how many times did you see Royce Gracie get into the ring with a guy twice his size only to submit him later in the fight? That was his game, wear them down and submit them. However, in today's MMA, < that being the key word here, MMA; I think you see BJJ specialists taking less and less time to work submissions. The ref's are quick to stand you up when someone isn't working anything, fighters are a hell of a lot more well rounded at defending against sub's so you just don't see too many guys pulling guard to work a sub. Typically, the sub is the result of taking a guy down and working the sub, which takes agression and pace. The sub's you see off of guy's backs, usually the result of a takedown gone wrong. Lol I think shorter rounds would actually do great things for MMA, get in there, get to banging and see who the better fighter is, not just the guy with the best cardio who can outlast or the guy who can take you down and lay on top of you for 3 rounds. Also, make takedowns all but worthless unless something results from them. A takedown w/lay and pray = nothing IMO. Absolutely worthless unless you attempt to do something with it.
  16. I'm a fan of Forrest, I love his blue collar approach and he's a likable guy. However, the only thing he's ever wowe'd my with is toughness, but he's gotten pretty boring and IMO he can't hang with the newer, faster, well rounded MMA figthers. Forrest is a brawler and when matched up with a multi-dimensonal fighter he doesn't stand a chance. I just don't think Silva beating him is a true testament of his abilities, I honestly think him beating Dan Henderson the way he did is more of a testament than beating Forrest. At least Hendo brings more to the table then just standing there getting punched in the head.
  17. Ok, so Forrest was a top HW at the time, look at the LHW's at the time, that's all I'm saying. Not to mention he couldn't even beat Tito after Rashad beat him up. You can't tell me you honestly think Forrest was on his game in that fight, or the next fight or even looked that great against Rich Franklin.
  18. Come on, I love Forrest but he wasn't even considered a top LHW at the time. AND, when he was champion, he was fighting guys that would stand there and throw haymakers with him, that's not an elite or even legit contender at 205 at the time of their fight. You're giving Forrest WAY too much credit in order to support your assertion that Silva's jump to 205 was such an amazing feat. Honestly, GSP could probably beat Forrest @ 205 lol. As slow and predictable as he is, you honestly think it was an amazing feat? Let Silva go in there and beat someone like Rashad and I'll give him his props, but not Forrest and Irvin.
  19. Mike, right here in this thread it was posted GSP would walk in the ring at 192 the night of the fight. That's not garbage weight, the dude has like 5% body fat. Of course Silva probably walks in at just over 200 and ten pounds is a lot of weight in the fight game, but Silva isn't a strong 185lb fighter, that's why he was manhandled by Sonnen. Silva's strength is is long limbs and speed, neutralize that and you neutralize Silva. GSP is much faster than Sonnen and prepares for a fight probably better than any fighter in the game. I honestly don't understand the hatred towards the guy, the way he has evolved as a fighter during his time in the UFC is mind boggling. He outwrestled Hughes, made the prodigy BJ Penn look like a punk, stuffed Koshcek's takedowns and worked him with his jab. The dude is so well rounded it's ridiculous. Show me where Silva has evolved? Silva is such a great champion but he refused to go to ground with Maia, GSP does this with Shields and he's a punk? At least GSP carries himself with grace in the octagon, can Silva say the same? As for going up in weight, the disadvantage will always be to the smaller guy, that's a no brainer. If I were GSP I'd be apprehensive about moving up in weight as well, he's only fought at 170, why not make both fighters uncomfortable, make them both suffer a little? That's why a catch weight fight is the only way to go IMO. Because the only one giving anything up at 185 is GSP, tell me how that makes sense. Silva clowned two 205 opponents? Well, who the **** has Irvin fought to make him a legit 205lb figher? He had one great knockout in his career and is otherwise a nobody. Forrest? Again, at the time he was a one trick pony, standing there like a punching bag getting picked apart by a faster, more precise striker. That's not an outstanding feat of fighting to pull that off, Forrest is notorious for getting beat up. Silva hasn't fought a legit 205lb guy, so using that as a basis for his greatness is weak IMO. Throw GSP in there with Maia, or one of the other contendors that Silva has fought and see how GSP fairs, guarantee you he beats them. Does that make GSP the greatest?
  20. Man, lot of hate on here for GSP. Personally, I still have him above Silva in the P4P category. I don't care how boring you think his fights are and upset that he doesn't finish, but Silva went several straight fights with no finishes as well. For the record, since the Serra fight GSP has never been in trouble, Silva can't say that and IMO has fought more mediocre matchups. GSP although not the most exciting is hands down the most well rounded, best prepared and arguably one of the most pysically gifted fighters in the game. So, it was obvious to me GSP was trying to finish the fight, his overhand right wobbled Shields several times. Shields' chin is sick though, honestly if he can take a right to the chin from Dan Henderson, how do you expect GSP to put him to sleep. Sorry, you will never get GSP to put himself in harms way. He had way too much respect for Shields' ground game to take the fight to the ground. Personally, I think he could have won the fight if he would have but whatever. I rewatched the supposed punch that hurt GSP's eye and actually saw the left jab from Shields looked to be the culprit. If you watched in slow mo you've actually see Sheilds' hand open and his pinky dragged across GSP's eye and the right followed. Once the eye was scratched you can imagine how difficult it is to fight with one eye. I think you can attribute Shields' striking success to the scratched eye moreso than GSP being a bad fighter and making the leap that SIlva would automatically dominate is ridiculouse. Penn, awesome striker and GSP owned him.
  21. Pretty decent free fight night! Can't stand Johnson, think he's a punk but whatever, can't stand Hardy either. Lol...Phil Davis, looked a little uncomfortable in there early, until he got the fight where he wanted it. I think the dude could definitely be a contendor someday, but he has to round out his game. Twister? That's a sick looking move!
  22. Never said he was afraid of Fitch, quote me if I did. He'll show up, he'll fight and he has a punchers chance with anyone he steps into the ring with. That doesn't mean he'll be able to stuff Fitch for three rounds and fat doesn't make you stronger. It allows you to put more behind your punches but doesn't help you out muscle a strong wrestler. Wrestlers not only have great strength but they know how to use it neutralize their opponent. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.
