When he's ripping, he's playing with power, but when he's at that level he stays at that level. All of his changes in power are with a purpose. He's consistent. Dude can play one song 100 times and have it sound the exact same 100 times straight. Doesn't let that momentum throw off his consistency. That was kinda where I was going. But like I said, that was more when I was responding under the wrong impression of your initial statement lol.. His VHS/DVD "In the Pocket" (no, it's not a porno) is on Youtube now. Learned so much from that tape as a kid. He plays the songs with a band, and then repeats the songs with just the bass player. The jams with the bass player are the funkiest grooves I've ever heard, it's a lot better than with the band. That's my gripe with Chambers. Legendary drummer, but the music he liked to play was twisted sounding fusion. Guitar all over the place, keyboard all over the place, I don't like it from a pure listening standpoint. Anyway, he plays exactly the same with the band as he does with just the bass player, down to every little detail. Extraordinary considering how intricate his playing is. Â My favorite from him was the album "Outbreak" and watching him jam with Tower of Power. His kick hat combos and fills on Outbreak were nothing short of magical. Is there something wrong with me? Â I just finished up catching all the way up from scratch, to the latest. It takes a few eps to set everything up. Then it picks up like a m'fer.
