Our defense is much better than the Raiders’ across the board, especially with them not clearing Chandler Jones to play. Regardless, the Raiders provided the gameplan to win this, which is pull together long sustained drives against what is apparently a bad 3rd down defense and keep Russ off the field.

Both their starting guards are JAGs and were with them last year. Evan Neal also struggled last year. They could have done more to address their interior at a minimum outside of swapping Gates for JMS

What they benefitted from was a new coaching staff and catching teams by surprise for how they used Jones. Note that they got off to a hot start and then cooled off the second half of the season. They also got lucky facing the Vikings, which was a wildly lucky team.

With no outside additions, the best OL combo is Leno/Wylie/Gates/Cosmi/Lucas. You will at least have much better pass pro to work with and there aren't questions with Wylie when it comes to playing LG. The no brainer ultimate selljob thing they should be doing is trying to lure Jason Peters here. He does want to play this year. They could restructure Leno, Thomas and a couple other guys to make it happen. For those who think we have no shot, Juan Castillo has a relationship with him from their days together in Philly and helped to lure him to Chicago while he was OL coach there. Glad to be done with the AG experiment after this year. Hopefully they can go draft a true scat back
