  1. The ironic thing is Hudson’s college position was more similar to a buffalo nickel vs a true LB. It’s not just that he is small for a LB but he has very short arms too By coincidence, he’s the guy that Sweat has been comped to given the body type
  2. I don’t think an older vet like Kwon Alexander or Zach Cunningham would play teams but Rashaan Evans might.
  3. They must like what they saw from the other corners enough to let Dantzler go. Getting $2.7M back helps.
  4. I would be fine with any of these 4 guys. I think this DL would help with Kwon’s run D but it’s not like the Jets’ and Saints’ DLs are bad
  5. Given all the young guys we have, having a future HOF leader type who is a coach on the field will be a force multiplier. Tyler Smith attributes some of his rookie success to playing next to Peters.
  6. I would be happy with Jason Peters. I get Ray Brown circa ‘05 vibes from him. He actually has a chance to come here given the Juan Castillo connection. Doubt he wants to go through a TC though. Risner is not a fit here. Don’t think be has the athleticism EB is looking for in his guards
  7. Ehh disagree with you on Mayer at #16. Would have been pissed if that happened. Given how things went down, the one that would have been close for me is if Washington had made it to their comp pick. I wasn't a big Washington fan but, if he had fallen there, I would've been a bit pissed if they had passed on him. I didn't love the Day 3 guys either and think they would've been marginal upgrades, at best, over the guys already on the roster. However, I respect your opinion and perspective!
  8. I’m with you. I like Hudson but he is small. Not just height and weight but, more importantly, he has < 30 inch arms. Don’t think he is going to be able to shed consistently and that length is going to hurt him in coverage vs TEs
  9. What you are not accounting for is that every single OL who is projected to make the OL has position flex. That is a major difference vs last year where Norwell and Turner were purely guards (yes Turner supposedly could play center too but I don’t think he ever took an NFL snap there) and Roullier was purely a center. You now have 4 guys who can play tackle at NFL level between Leno, Wylie, Lucas and Cosmi Wylie and Gates are proven NFL starters at guard and play LG if needed. If Paul and Charles suck, I don’t know why you can’t just move Gates to LG and start Stromberg. The center depth is better with Gates, Stromberg and Larsen vs Roullier, Larsen and Schweitzer. You at least now have a young body that has not been through the ringer injurywise Again, I think they are one guy away from me being more comfortable with the line but they are definitely better off vs last year
  10. Perhaps this rule change is the impetus to do so. I am fine with one of these top spring league QBs - I keep suggesting Ta’amu because he has had a couple stints with EB in KC and was also here briefly. I also like the traits with the size, mobility and NFL arm. No one is likely picking Fromm up off a PS unless they get desperate.
  11. They may have and decided he is not a fit. Andy/EB value athletic guards for their scheme and Risner is not that. Risner is more like a rich man’s Norwell…a strong guy who doesn’t move well laterally. For all the question marks, Paul, Cosmi, Charles and Daniels are all very athletic guards I’m more interested in Jason Peters for a number of reasons and, given Castillo’s relationship with him, having coached him in Philly and Chicago, they could potentially land him. However, doubt he signs with a team until toward the end of camp
  12. They have carried 3 QBs on the roster throughout Rivera’s tenure. Carrying 2 with one on the PS would deviate from what Rivera has done. Furthermore, this is a franchise that has had the 3rd QB play in every one of Rivera’s seasons here
  13. I hear you around scheming around linebackers and I agree with you that you can play 2 LBs most of the time. However, it is a position where guys get hurt a lot and, while Jamin has stayed healthy, the other starters we have had over the years have missed time, whether it be Holcomb, Bostic or KPL. They barely got by last year with Jamin staying healthy but if both guys were to go down, they are in serious trouble. They had a bunch of issues but the LB injuries the Browns had last year were the primary reason their D was terrible. There is only so much masking you could do if you are forced to start Mayo and Hudson. On OL, there are different theories around it. I think it is Logan Paulsen whose philosophy is that you don't need studs but you need at least a legitimate starter at each spot so you don't have a weak link. I think they should sign Jason Peters or Dalton Risner for additional insurance at LG but I don't feel very worried about any other spot on the OL.
  14. I agree that Davis and Barton are both passable starters but the greater issue is that the depth behind them is the worst of any of the position groups. For OT, you at least have Lucas. For OG, you'll have either Gates or Paul for depth (if you want to debate Paul, fine, you still have a 4th. For off ball LB, you have who? Mayo? Hudson? The former made his first season opening 53 man roster last year and the second guy didn't make the team out of camp last year.
  15. Not necessarily. They did what they could this offseason within the constraints. If the goal were a proven veteran, they very likely did not have the authority to give Lamar a fully guaranteed contract and they weren't going to get Carr or Jimmy G. In the draft, they were too far back to move up for Young or Stroud. Jacoby was the best affordable option available in FA and they got that guy. I see your point potentially being in the same QB hell next year with a mid first. However, with new ownership and a new regime in place, perhaps they go do something ballsy like trade 3 1sts to move up to take Maye or trade for a veteran who may come available
  16. Yep. Just saying that, in other threads, especially prior the draft, I was seeing a lot of posts suggesting cutting Lucas to save a miniscule amount of cap space. Unless his play drops off significantly this year, I wouldn't cut Leno next year either - it is not easy to acquire a legitimate starting caliber LT.
  17. Yep. My point was that whatever Tepper may have said, this offseason felt like the first offseason Tepper was truly all in on making that big QB splash. I pointed out the passing on Watson but remember they passed on Fields for Jaycee Horn in 2021 (they could've made the trade SF did) and, in 2020, they could have traded up two picks to take Tua or one pick up to take Herbert instead of Brown.
  18. I don’t know why so many on this board want to release Leno and/or Lucas. One guy is an average LT making average LT money while being a strong locker room presence and the other guy is one of the best swing tackles in the league and has had to play a ton since coming here
  19. Sure but that seems like an isolated incident. I may be wrong but I don't think these guys have gotten into multiple fights with each other during TC like say the Bills have. If you look up and down the roster, it is filled with former team captains and professionals.
  20. They were one of the teams in the hunt for Watson last year. They had the ability to make the same trade the Browns did and apparently what it came down to was the Panthers not willing to make the type of guarantees the Browns did.
  21. We punted on drafting off ball LB depth in 2022 and 2023 despite it being reported by Keim that they were looking at prospects at the position. Wondering whether 2024 is the year we finally draft a guy in any round at our biggest position of need.
  22. He took some time to ultimately pivot his philosophy. He wouldn't have settled for washed up Cam Newton, Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield and PJ Walker if that were his philosophy from the get go. I wonder where Harris lands
