  1. This was our OL’s story in 21 when they were statistically ranked top 10 as a unit- Turner was masking their overall suckiness by really leveraging quick game
  2. Unless one of the other four suffers a major injury in training camp / preseason, he is gone. Ridgeway is DQ’s guy from the Cowboys days - when they cut him early in 2022, their goal was to out him on the PS for a game before bringing him back but wr snatched him up because Ron let both Ion and Settle go and left us with Donovan Jeter
  3. I may have misheard Sikkema on Take Command but I believe he said he’s talked to folks in DC and they don’t see him stepping in Day 1 to be a starter Off topic but Sikkena’s other great observation was that Newton played 700 snaps vs Murphy who played ~400. Addresses the remark in the other thread for why his “effort” was up and down
  4. I think, if we make a move at tackle, it happens after minicamp. They probably want to see what they have in Coleman.
  5. A beef a many folks have is we didn’t walk away with two of these guys
  6. I don’t have issues with taking Coleman but I felt the same way @Going Commando did about taking Sainristil instead of one of the high ceiling LT prospects. The point I made is all those guys in the second were snatched up by good organizations (Texans, Dolphins, Chiefs and Ravens). As we ended up seeing, none of these guys would’ve been reaches at 50 because they all went within 13 picks of that pick so let’s put that narrative to rest. From a strategy standpoint, - When you are picking after the mid 1st, left tackle prospects you take have low floors. Left tackle is a very tough position to solve. Why not take two shots at it to increase your chance of hitting? - Wylie is likely here for one more year. A big reason they kept him is the net cost for keeping him was just $2M vs cutting him. If both hit, great. You found two starting tackles in this draft.
  7. Back 7 players don’t really rotate out of a game if they are great players. It speaks to Jamin’s limitations that he has not played 100% of snaps.
  8. I think a number of folks are potentially underrating the contribution Rogers can make. He is another guy who is very smart and gas superior athleticism - him getting carries in 2022 symbolizes that. He got hurt early enough last year that he should be 100% by the time camp starts. With his ex QB brain, he’s probably been taking mental reps too. I think the new coaching staff is going to be surprised learning what they have in him. With Sinnott in fold, what is interesting now are the different skillsets at play and the mixing and matching you can do in 12 personnel
  9. This LT search is starting to remind me a bit of the 2019 offseason when we brought Donald Penn in at the end of July. Perhaps it ends up taking that long to bring in a veteran who wants to avoid a chunk, if not all of training camp
  10. The first sentence is statistically an unfair statement to make. There aren't many tackles with 36+ inch arms period. If one is to succeed in the NFL at tackle with 33 inch arms, that player's technique has to be very good to excellent because the margin for error for making a technical error is lower.
  11. Definitely. If Leno or Bakhtiari get a clean bill of health, I'd add one of those guys too. Worst case, McDermott can go to the PS. The dude has sat on PSs his whole career
  12. Well, we got our post draft cut at tackle. It is Conor McDermott, longtime veteran backup JAG tackle, who got a few starts for the Patriots last year after they benched Trent Brown. He was with Bobby Johnson in Buffalo in 2019. He put up a 67 PFF grade in games played last year. He's definitely a guy worth bringing to camp if they don't like anyone else out there.
  13. I feel #100 was the perfect tradedown spot. Last pick on Day 2 - very opportune time for a team to move up and snag a guy before teams digest Day 2 and prepare for Day 3
  14. Slater is one example. I can’t name many tackles with 33 inch arms who are studs at the position in the example. Year after year, there are college tackles with short arms who the draft community pushes as tackles in the pros and, more often than not, they move inside. Alijah Vera Tucker is a great recent example of this.
  15. Yep and I was thinking about that yesterday. If you look at how things shook out, there was a clear dropoff after #76 - no more of the “this guy could’ve gone in the 2nd but fell to the 3rd” guys after Elliss. That being said, Zinter, Haynes or Goncalves would’ve been nice to have Also the 5th round pick swap mattered - we lost out on Mohamed Kamara as a result
  16. It’s not just the strength but his college tape was not good either - there is definitely a major technique gap he has to overcome too. He is a guy who probably needs to sit on practice squads for a while. Given his arm length and lack of refinement in his game, he is likely a guard and he probably needs to do it in a zone heavy scheme.
  17. Yep. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is moved before the season. If you have a sense that he is not going to fit, it may be better to cut your losses now and get a 4th or a 5th vs nothing down the road. He is only going to continue to depreciate if his poor play on tape continues. He is going to have his fans around the league who will attribute his struggles more to the coaching at this point
  18. I had heard (forget where or on what pod) that they liked Blake Fisher. It must have been a surprise to them that he was snatched up where he was.
  19. You may not be able to do both things if you are talking about giving capital away for Aiyuk. The same draft comp may preclude a trade for someone like a Bolles or Kolton Miller and, if I have to give up draft comp, I am getting the left tackle. The friendship may or may not help. To the outside eye, it seems that the Hurts-AJ Brown relationship deteriorated last season after they had been friends for years. It could also cause chemistry issues gelling with the other receivers.
  20. I think it is this guy vs Holmes for a roster spot
  21. Same. Daniels very likely does not make the team. Small and so raw
  22. They are not going to move Cosmi back. He’s an elite guard and his shorter arms hurt him a bit at tackle. In your scenario, Stromberg would never start over Wylie at guard
  23. I think Coleman was excellent value in the 3rd. Even if he becomes a guard, you are working with one with elite athleticism. Kind of like getting a longer more athletic Cosmi but in the 3rd round. If this were to happen and we retain Cosmi, you have the KC model of a fantastic interior with the question marks being on the edges
  24. Interesting nugget from Thor Nystrom on Galdi’s podcast was that Coleman played hurt last year. It could help explain why his play fell off a bit vs 2022
  25. Good news is that the 2025 draft appears to have some tackles. We need that, a premier EDGE, a CB1 and an elite offensive weapon.
