  1. Dyami isnt a slot or return guy. This guy plays a different position. This is a loaded slot receiver draft so it makes me think if we do take a receiver, it will be an outside receiver who would bump Dyami out of a job
  2. You don’t mess around with left tackle. This is why I was bummed that things didn’t work out with Leno. He would have been a great bridge to a longer term solution
  3. Ultimately, like a lot of Ron’s picks, the though process here was broken. He was never going to truly get the chance to compete for the starting job year 1 with a young QB in Howell. Center is not a position you take a guy Day 2 to have him sit for a year. The position lacks that type of value. I feel bad from Stromberg that he got hurt because he would have had a shot to show what he has after Larsen went down
  4. Exactly my thought, which is why waiting until the 2nd is risky. It wouldn’t surprise me if we move both 2nds to move up to the mid 1st for Fashanu if he is there and he just might be.
  5. In 2021, Adam Peters's 49ers took Aaron Banks, the guy who played guard and earned consensus All American honors, at #48. Know who went next? "Subpar tackle" prospect Sam Cosmi. Who do you think the 9ers would've taken in a do over between the two? I think everyone has to prepare themselves for Wylie being a starter at RT for another season or at least a portion of it. I like the upside of a lot of the guys in the 2nd and 3rd round but most of these guys should probably sit a year.
  6. Another thing that may hurt Beebe is that many of the tackle prospects in the 2nd and 3rd seem to be bigger athletic types. If I were a GM, my thinking would be to see whether they work out at tackle and, if they don’t, I may view them as having the floor of a guard
  7. Although I have a preference for Maye, I see them taking Daniels. Job preservation is something FOs and coaches think about and I believe, of the two, Daniels is the safer pick from a play standpoint (I do believe Maye has the higher ceiling). If JD busts because of injury but was performing while on the field, the FO would get more leeway and the ability to take a second QB.
  8. Pretty obvious to me that they are waiting on the next wave of FA that will take place after the draft when vets get cut. You can find decent value then - we signed Leno to a 1 year $5m deal after be got cut by the Bears. Also some of the guys available now who will still be available post draft will get more desperate
  9. My realization is that to solve LT while spending the least amount of draft capital, the best way to go at this stage is trade. While I believe in the upside of a bunch of these guys, I think this class is filled with raw prospects who need to sit for a year as they clean up technique, especially in a situation like ours in which a first year starter will be playing. Bolles and Braxon Jones are a couple names I would think about.
  10. Interested to hear your thoughts on Fisher who seems well regarded but no one touches on in this thread They saved themselves by letting Simmons go instead. It’s still not like they have a lot breathing room
  11. This will be his 32 season. I think he probably has 2-3 solid years left. I would swap a 2nd for a 3rd or give up a 3rd and a Day 3 pick for him
  12. Kind of my thinking but I’m in the camp of trading for Bolles. Bust rate for tackles has been higher than we think the past few years. I’d rather pay $20M/yr for a sure thing Could then grab someone like Kiran, Fisher or Foster in the 3rd to compete with and eventually replace Wylie at RT
  13. Ask yourself this: given the types of players Peters has brought in so far, does Caleb fit from an attitude/mindset standpoint given what is known about him?
  14. With the higher picks, it makes it easier to trade for better players. Rather than spending a ton of capital to move up to move into the mid first to take someone like Fashanu, why wouldn't you give up #40 or a couple of these thirds for a proven rock solid LT like Bolles?
  15. Not to take this off the rails but another guy who can bounce back next season is BSJ. He’s always going to be handsy and he doesn’t look back for the ball enough but he impressed me in 22 and did a solid job against a lot of #1 WRs before taking a major step back in 23. He’s going to have a lot to prove this year and he has the size and length DQ looks for in his corners. If it were me, I sign a FA like a Yiadom, draft a developmental guy like Khyree Jackson and have BSJ and Forbes compete for the other starting corner spot
  16. Did Forbes really have bad film though? I haven’t heard anyone say that. Porter was also seen as a man corner with no ball skills. In retrospect, his skillset would’ve been perfect in DQ’s scheme
  17. I think it would be really prescient to try to get Jamin extended now on a sub $10M AAV deal for three years. We already know that his floor is solid weakside LB. I agree too that in DQ’s defense, his numbers could really take off. I would try to extend both Cosmi and Davis now
