  1. They should be able to flip Jones to a team like the Clippers. On that contract, he is easily worth a low first. As a contender, under the new CBA, that contract to value is exactly what you need
  2. KP has major injury risk. Gotta move him while he is a hot asset. Remember that we got him for nothing and the Mavs even threw in a 2nd round pick to move him.
  3. Yep. I would totally do that trade. I think Kuminga could blow up here. Kuminga can put up huge numbers here as the guy. No issues giving him an extension if he is what we think he can be. I would think about KP for Poole, Kuminga, one of Baldwin Jr or Moody and the #19 pick. They really could use a big center with size and KP would thrive there
  4. I think we should feel really lucky that Mat Ishbia was not the guy to buy this team. His first several months with the Suns feels like Dan Snyder circa 1999/2000 where the "future is now" and there is no regard for roster construction. The guy is also surrounding himself with people like Isiah Thomas, one of the worst GMs in NBA history, as advisors.
  5. He doesn't have the ceiling Coulibaly does but I would say Black has an all star ceiling with a much higher floor. It's unfair to compare him to Deni and Troy - he's a much better prospect than either of those two and I see him as a more athletic Giddey. At #8, he feels like a good mix of BBIQ, character and upside. Saying drafting him as a single is way off..it's not a swing for the fences pick either but I feel like it is a "let's hit a double or triple" type of pick.
  6. If they wanted to get rid of Davis as badly as you indicate, couldn't they have dumped him in the Beal trade? You have no idea where Dawkins rated him either. The Thompson twins are not projected to fall to #8. The guy who is projected to go to the Wiz most consistently in mocks is Anthony Black who is a PG. If they do take a SG, you can always have JD come off the bench. Take the GLeague stuff out of it. He did have 3 good games in his final 8 so he showed some signs of life. I am caveating that those games were like the equivalent of the Dallas game for the football team last year so I take them with a grain of salt but I can't take away the games he did have. I don't think Kispert really blocks JD. Kispert should be the starting SF and Deni, if they keep him, should play PF given his lack of shooting ability
  7. Not to provide excuses for Davis but he was supposedly dealing with a lot of injuries the first half of the season and he was dealing with a newborn. Look at his pre All Star game and post All Star game splits in the GLeague. He was absolutely terrible in the first half and, in the second half, he averaged 18 ppg on 49/45/75. If you try to move him now, you are getting nothing of note back from him. There is no harm giving him a lot of minutes in year 2. Either he improves and shows he is an NBA caliber player or he sucks and helps with the tank. The key for him is to show more consistency with his jump shot - to your point, because he is a below average athlete, you can't depend on him getting his points attacking the rim. He is going to have to develop a solid three point shot or at least a mid range game. I do think his defense is NBA caliber and can potentially be above average. He needs to show more on offense though They could've moved Herro for at least a couple first rounders now. If they let him serve as the primary piece here and chuck his way to 25 ppg+ a game with decent efficiency, perhaps they could've gotten more. 120M over 4 years is not bad value for him now and could be great value if he could prove he has another gear to his game. I've heard that Monty Williams absolutely loves Shamet. If they can get #31 (the first pick of the second round) for him, that is good value
  8. They desperately need a cheap big man who they think could be productive. They have nothing behind Looney
  9. Hell no. Don't need a center even if we trade Porzingis and nothing special about Lively. If Black is gone, there is going to be someone projected in the top 7 who falls to us at 8
  10. Yup. This franchise has not signed a non top 3 pick to a second contract since god knows when. That is absolutely pathetic. It all starts with talent acquisition personnel. I did see a nugget that they are hiring a new analytics guy so it looks like they are building out the mid level of the org as well.
  11. Ehh...I'd give JD this year to see what he has. I don't think the guy is a future star or anything like that given his lack of athleticism but I think he could become a productive NBA player because he is a guy with high end work ethic. Remember he went from not doing much as a freshman to the conference POY as a sophomore in a great conference. I would look at trading Deni. There is no point giving a second contract to him.
  12. Todd is absolute trash and he is not an NBA player. That was another Tommy special giving that guy 4 guaranteed years. It is a positive we get his salary, albeit small, off the books.
  13. This. Look how long it took the Sixers with the process. It has been quick for OKC because they went into it with SGA and a ton of draft assets before taking on the toxic contracts I would love for them to take chances on young productive role players in trades to see if those guys can evolve into stars. Guys like Kuminga and Terrance Mann fit that bill for me. If they can get Mann back as part of a package for CP3, that would make me happier
  14. Buckle up GC. It is going to be longer buddy. I think we are looking at 5 years. This team has no prime assets, whether they be picks or players to work with. At least OKC had SGA and all the picks from the PG and Russ trades to start from This crew will need a few years to scoop up quality assets while it tanks and serves as TARP for other teams. At least the timing of dumping salary is right. The new CBA is going to make teams more motivated than ever to move toxic contracts.
  15. **** Tommy, **** Ted and **** Beal. **** the first two guys for giving this guy a supermax, a NTC and a trade kicker to boot and not trading him when his value was at its max. Absolutely ridiculous and only bottom of the barrel franchises do this sort of thing. **** Beal for forcing his way to the Suns and dictating the overall trade (taking on CP3 instead of Ayton, who they could have flipped to another team for a return). I was never a big Beal fan even at his best. He never captured my heart as a fan the same way Gil, Caron and Wall did. There was a genuineness to those guys, for better or worse, that Beal has never had. There was also an alpha element to those guys that Beal never had. I always felt he had a fakeness to him where he was trying to have this image as a clean, community first, team first loyal player while having his wife and Quinton Mayo serve as his mouthpieces to voice his complaints through the media. There has always been a disingenuous and passive aggressive nature to him. I'm glad he's gone and that he has outed himself for who he truly is. Glad he is not going to be able to hold the franchise record for points and hopefully he is not having his jersey retired. Hopefully, he is an afterthought when discussing this pathetic franchise's history. Would a don like Pat Riley have taken this from Beal and Bartelstein? Probably not. At the same time, I see where this new FO was operating from. Once the new league year kicks in, due to the changes to the CBA, it was going to become harder to move Beal because teams a certain level over the luxury tax would have to be closer in terms of the salary match vs now. Furthermore, given his history over the past couple years, if he was pacing toward having that type of trajectory a third straight year, that may have also impacted the appetite for teams to take him on. Given the handcuffs this group was dealt with, I think what happens with KP, Kuzma and the draft are going to better indicators for how to judge this FA. Finally, something I've seen only Hollinger mention is that by making this a three team deal and moving CP3 to LAC or another team, we may be able to create a significant trade exception (Hollinger mentioned $17M). They got a $6M exception in the Rui trade, which gives them the ability to take on a bad salary close to $30M to get the party started with eating bad contracts. I wonder what they could get from teams for eating contracts like Ben Simmons's. The Nets, as one example, have a lot of first round picks coming their way.
  16. With LeBron's window closing, I don't see why LeBron for Beasley, Bamba and #17 can't happen. LeBron and CP3 are very close friends and have always wanted to play together Terance Mann + Bones Hyland + salary filler like Plumlee and Covington would be interesting
  17. Worst comes to worst and they can't get anything meaningful for him, he is a good guy to keep around. Look at what he did for the OKC team in the bubble - the guy is an excellent mentor
  18. I would love to get Simons and #3 back from Portland. Don’t think Beal is enough but maybe adding in some mix of #8, Gafford and Avdija gets it done. I’d rather hold on to #8 though. Grab Scoot or Ausar at #3 and Black at #8
  19. I know Miami is the most talked about trade partner and a package around Herro, Jovic and #18 isn’t bad but I would rather they get a package from the Warriors around Poole, Kuminga, Moody and a pick or two. I really think Kuminga has star potential and is already an efficient offensive player. I also think Poole can turn around perception of himself in DC. It is obvious something was rotten in GSW last year and, while it is always easy to blame the youngsters, it is not great organizational culture when 4 of the guys are close buddies with the coach and GM. I also think Draymond is to blame some. I also hope they can get any value for KP and Kuzma. I would also explore trading Deni. Dude has a year left on his deal and this team should not be the ones paying him $20M a year during a rebuild. I think they can get a first back for him. Lastly, the Suns are interested in Monte Morris. Please trade him for a few seconds Keep Taj Gibson and add a couple other vet minimum older guys to help steer the culture
  20. It'd be foolish to trade Chase unless someone is offering a first round pick next year. Per the reports we have gotten, the guy is looking quite explosive again. If the guy doesn't do the stutter step BS and rushes in scheme with the rest of the DL, he should put up at least his rookie year numbers. I have to think the combo of seeing Sweat having success rushing in pattern with Allen, this year being a contract year and the failure of 2021 may mean some changes to the way Chase plays this year
  21. Yep. RR has had his hands tied the past couple offseasons and that hasn’t been talked about enough.
  22. Yep, the guy from ND. It is easier to have smaller LBs when you a run a 4-3 as you are protected by 4 down linemen any given day. The king size LBs are more applicable to a 3-4. I remember all the beat guys were adamant a couple years ago that we would never draft Zaven Collins had he made it to our spot
  23. The ironic thing is Hudson’s college position was more similar to a buffalo nickel vs a true LB. It’s not just that he is small for a LB but he has very short arms too By coincidence, he’s the guy that Sweat has been comped to given the body type
