  1. I think Ty Lawson is a guy who we can get to man the backup PG spot on the cheap due to his off the court issues. His jump shot may have broken a bit last season as well but he's a guy who can facilitate and provide defense on the second unit
  2. It didn't seem that Boggs was as bad on him as Smith was anyway. Can anyone verify that or am I crazy?
  3. That small lineup we were rolling out in the 2nd quarter (I believe it was Wall/Jennings/Porter/Bogs/Morris) was doing pretty well. Substitute Beal for Jennings and I'd like to see more of it. If Smith is out, one of the deep rotation guys may get spot minutes. Given that McCullough hasn't even been active, I think we may see Ochefu out there for a few minutes ugh. Need to give Ian the cortisone injection for that calf
  4. I wouldn't reunite the Morris brothers - something tells me that they need to be apart from each other to get the most out of themselves on and off the court. Trading for Lou is a case of trading high - compare his shooting %s this year to the rest of his career and you see that he may be bound for a regression if he were moved out of his current situation. If we were to trade a 1st for him and the deal does not include Nicholson, I would want to get Nance, Black or someone else. The optimal thing to do at the end of the day is to dive into the current FA pool and those who will get bought out post trade deadline. You would think that guys like Mario Chalmers, Carl Landry and Dorell Wright can add more to this bench that the Sheldon McLellans and the Ochefus of the world
  5. With vet minimum or BAE, it may be worth taking a gamble on Michael Beasley. The word is that he is still a bit of a knucklehead but he's gotten better about a lot of the issues since his first stint with the Heat. He would really help our 2nd unit scoring as a stretch 4
  6. At the end of the day, it makes us more attractive for Durant to come to as well.
  7. Kings want veteran ready players who can contribute right away, which is what might tip the scales in favor of us. Beal + Gortat + #19 + another future first for Cousins & McLemore might get it done for us. What might improve our chances even more is eating Carl Landry or Jason Thompson for our TPE. Warhead - By moving Beal and Gortat, we may actually end up benefiting on another level as well. Beal is going to be due a $22M max by the time the next CBA rolls around and Gortat, although on a great deal at $12M a year, will be 35 when his contract wraps up. Cousins is at around $15M for 3 more seasons.
  8. Seems like some of the better FAs out there are 4's (Gasol, Bosh and Melo). What would clear this mess up is trading Nene for Larry Sanders, letting Gortat and Ariza walk and signing one of these 4's
  9. I'd see if we could move Webster for Jerebko. Webster is definitely the better player but Jerebko expires in 2015
  10. Ernie's ego won't allow him trading back for Kendall. Plus if I'm the Lakers, I'm keeping him over Blake and Farmar because he is lucked up for another year at a bargain basement rate
  11. Below is a trade that works in the checker: Seraphin & Rice for Farmar & Sacre & Wes Johnson Although it would suck to lose Rice, I think Farmar can make a huge difference in upping the production of our 2nd unit down the stretch. In addition, Sacre seems to be a less boneheaded version of Seraphin who is on a cheap contract for 2 more years
  12. Dude Garrett Temple is absolutely atrocious. 5.8 PER...a big part of why Beno sucks is because of how the Knicks have been using him. I don't want to hear the crap about his D...I'd rather have a guy who is somewhat capable of being a floor general. Something else to note is that Beno played very well after getting traded from the Bucks to the Magic this year. We could legitimately also play Udrih alongside wall as he did with Tyreke back in Sacramento
  13. on a much smaller scale we should be making a play for beno udrih. they probably wouldn't want maynor because of the extra year so im wondering if we could move singleton or temple for him
  14. With the UFC losing stars so quickly, they really need to find a way to bring Nick Diaz aboard. If you are Nick, who would you be willing to come back to the UFC to fight? I think Kampmann, Alves, Sanchez, Marquardt and Dan Hardy should all be options. All four fighters have names in their own right so Nick can't argue that these guys will be making their names off him. I think all these fights could co-headline a card, especially one with a weak main event like a flyweight title fight
  15. I don't think Ariza has to be traded for us to improve in other areas. I think we can move pieces like Singleton (esp if he continues to play well), Ves, Booker and 2nd rd picks for low upside but proven vets or salary dumps so that we can sign guys like Beaubois / Pierre Jackson and Camby / Kwame Brown (yes) in their stead.
  16. I really do not get the hate at all for this trade. If anything, what annoyed me is letting all those other guys go. I think at least Marshall and Brown are on guaranteed contracts and I'd take either guy over Temple. Heck, if Marshall can learn to nail the 3, the man becomes at least a serviceable backup
  17. Anyone see the Frank Shamrock documentary? Frank comes off looking like an ass but it was very well produced
  18. I wonder what they do with Uriah Hall. Dana says he "is not a fighter" and is going to think about what he needs to do with him. I think Uriah needs to take a year off from competition, go to a sports psychologist, train with a great camp and build himself back fighting on the Facebook portion of the cards. It's one fight but it has seemed to work for Wonderboy Thompson so far. If Uriah does get cut, if I am WSOF, I snatch him up and add him to my growing pool of middleweights. I'd put him on an Atlantic City card and have him fight a washed up legend like a Paulo FIlho to build his name back.
  19. It sucks because I'm a Reem fan but he probably gets cut after this. UFC is not going to pay him what they pay him currently to go fight a Pat Barry
  20. I though Rice looked solid today. He showed he can hit the 3 and the dribble drive dunk was nasty
  21. Why would Utah take on a minimum of $8M of unwanted salary for a pick outside the top 10??? The only thing that can justify taking on $8M of garbage salary is being able to get a Burke or McLemore
  22. If we were to trade Beal, I'd rather have Oladipo. Oladipo is the guy who has all the traits that a team like San Antonio or OKC would look for. I see a guy who will be one of the best perimeter defenders in the league and will be incredibly efficient offensively. McLemore has a great shot and is athletic but there are too many questions regarding his game, especially the intangibles.
  23. Yes Otto is the safe pick. However, we need a big man who can be a star next season moreso than a SF. We can get by with Martell and Trevor next season at SF and sign another guy like a Babbitt for depth. However, we know Nene will miss at least 20-30 games next season and I have a feeling a guy who has been as unhealthy as Okafor will miss a significant chunk as well. If we have the likes of Seraphin and Booker playing starter minutes, we are screwed next season. I think #3 + Vesely + Singleton + our trade exception for Milsap + #14 should get it done. Draft Schroeder and swap our 2 2nds + cash for a late first to get Withey and we should be set PG: Wall / Schroeder / Price SG: Beal / Barbosa (signed for minimum) / Martin SF: Webster / Ariza / Babbitt PF: Milsap / Nene / Booker C: Okafor / Seraphin / WIthey
  24. Yes and that is why we should leverage the #3 pick into a big man who can score and rebound and play more than 50 games. In my other post, I propose getting Milsap and #14. #14 would be prime position to get a top flight backup in this draft.
  25. I really hope we can use this draft to land Withey and a good backup PG like Larkin or Schroeder. Imagine coming out of this draft with Milsap, Schroeder and Withey. That'd be a huge win. (We would probably have to move Ariza and Vesely to Utah to make salaries match) PG: Wall / Schroeder / Price SG: Beal / Bellinelli (bi-annual exception) / Martin SF: Webster ($3M annually) / Budinger (whatever is leftover from MLE) / Singleton PF: Milsap / Nene / Booker C: Emeka / Withey / Seraphin
