  1. As much as I like Samuel and what he has done, one of the arguments for not resigning him are to let Jahan play in the slot. They need a bigger receiver on the outside to complement Terry and Jahan
  2. You’ve gotta wonder how much Ron influenced late round picks. It is a shame, for example, that Mayock gets so much flak for his draft record in Vegas when Gruden apparently took over Day 1 and 2 and then let Mayock do his thing Day 3 where he found guys like Crosby and Renfrow
  3. Haha. I was wondering that. You had a great point that Steichen was the brains of the offensive operation recently
  4. Yep. This is what we are contending with unfortunately. It would serve us well for Howell to get back to having games like the one against Philly the first go around and the second half of the Denver game. Regarding competing against the Chargers for a HC, we have everything going for us except the QB and location (except for Ben Johnson, who is from Asheville)
  5. Yep. I think both Slowik and Drew Petzig are guys who should be considered. I’m impressed by how competitive the AZ offense has been so far with Dobbs and, if Kyler plays well, his stock will go higher. With Slowik, I am curious about his personality. He worked for PFF - is he just a smart analytical dude or is he a leader too? This take doesn’t make sense. You really can’t get a guy to leave his job in the summer right before the season. He is not going to be able to bring his staff too. You would be limiting yourselves to guys outside of football
  6. Doesn’t matter. He is an older guy who is a rental. No one sees him as a no. 1 corner. He is worth somewhere between a 4th or 6th
  7. Ben Johnson is at the top of everyone’s lists. It is going to be a dogfight to get him to come here.
  8. He always had a strong leg - he’d boot the ball past the end zone on the kickoffs even before they moved the line up. His issue was always accuracy.
  9. The reason La'el has not been signed by anyone yet is because he wants a boatload of money. I'm not sure they can fit him in under the cap.
  10. You stick Lucas in and move Wylie inside. Anything else is hubris. Unfortunately, due to his deal, you are probably stuck with Wylie another year anyway so may as well see what he has at guard and, hopefully, he looks at least decent there
  11. A reason for trading picks for players is 1) getting access to players who otherwise would never make it to free agency and 2) getting guys midway through their deals and having the other team deal with the original cap hit of the signing bonus
  12. Quan does not offset Forbes is Forbes sucks but it would be nice to walk away from this draft with at least one plus starter and one average starter albeit at low value positions.
  13. I think if you can get a 2nd and a 5th for Sweat or a 2nd and a pick in 2025, I probably do it. If it comes to it, I can see Toohill as a decent starter who can get you a few sacks, play the run well and play coverage as an extra backer if needed. EDIT: The backup plan is that there are a bunch of starting caliber EDGEs in FAyou can get a for a fraction of what Sweat would demand - Epenesa, Armstrong, C. Harris, etc.
  14. I hear you. The saving grace is that Cody Mauch has apparently been pretty bad (43 PFF grade) and O'Cyrus Torrence wasn't a schematic fit. If the next regime gets to work and fixes the OL in 24 and Quan pans out to be a stud, we won't lament the pick as much as we are now. On the OL, generally, I think we are a stud tackle and an insertion of Stromberg away (with the implication of Wylie moving inside) from having at least an average OL assuming they can bring a legitimate OL coach who can teach them the basics like how to deal with stunts.
  15. Paul and Larsen are inactive on game days. Larsen because Stromberg has passed him and Paul because he lacks “position flex”
  16. I don’t worry about this with Stromberg. He can handle the mental load, he is highly intelligent. Rookie centers should be able to play guard too. Look at Jurgens and Dickerson - both guys are guards who were college centers. The issue with Stromberg playing guard is he doesn’t have the physical strength yet to play it at an NFL level
  17. I really wanted Banks with our pick the whole process (I assumed Gonzales wouldn’t be there). How nice would it be to have either guy? I am getting the sense that Quan is a guy who makes big plays. Had a sack called back in ATL, forced a fumble on teams and showed off that 40 inch vert with that PD. He should absolutely get more PT - not the right guy to take in the 2nd given need but I am intrigued. Hopefully he pays off for the next regime. I see the elite potential Given Gates’s struggles at center, Stromberg needs to show what he has sooner than later. I’d be shocked if Daniels makes the 53 next year
  18. This actually wouldn’t surprise me. It seems that in the league, teams are way more willing to give first time OCs a shot than DCs. The league is littered with retreads in DC roles, probably why Joe Barry has a job. I think the reason why is because so many HC hires are offensive guy who retain playcalling duties
  19. I believe the reason they don’t ask hard questions is probably losing Ron and his close lieutenants as sources and that type of unofficial access. However, I don’t get why some of the guys who don’t break stuff like Michael Phillips don’t ask the tough questions
  20. The most marketable players are the 1 year rentals. Lot of talk about Chase and Sweat and get why but the following guys are options to move as well for mid round value: - Fuller - Curl - Brissett - Samuel The following could bring back low round value: - Any of the three rotational DEs - maybe a 7th or swapping a 6th for our 7th - Charles - if a team has a major injury issue on the interior - Gibson You may argue to just sit and wait on the comp picks but I’d rather get picks sooner
